Coachforce Badminton Development Officers Report 18Th August 2017 CoachForce Badminton Development Officers Report 18th August 2017 School / Club Visits / Kiwisport /Coaching Tarryn continuing with the last of the sessions at Tauranga Intermediate and has also been doing sessions with Yr 7 & 8 classes at Te Puna School, ACG School and Papamoa College. Have received email interest from Pyes Pa School, Matapihi School and Whakarewarewa School. Welcome Bay School has booked in for sessions in 2018 already. I have now completed the sessions with Ben Hurley (PR Teacher/Sport Coordinator) at ACG School and a group of yr 11 students and their Cambridge assessment requirements. I have over the last week been at Tauranga Boys College working with 5 of the PE teachers and their Yr 11 classes. In total I will be having 3 classes for 5 x 1 hour sessions and 2 of the classes for 2 x 1 hour sessions. I will also be assisting the teachers with the NCEA assessments of the boys. The BOP Yr 7 & 8 qualifying tournaments were held in CBOP on Wednesday, 2nd August (9 teams in total from Kaitao Intermediate, JPC and 7th Day Adventist) and in WBOP on Friday, 4th August (25 teams in total from Otumoetai Int, Tauranga Int, Bethlehem College, Te Puna School, Papamoa College, Waihi College & Katikati College). There were only 2 teams that showed interest in entering in the EBOP competition (from Awakeri School) so this tournament did not go ahead. We invited the teams to compete at either the CBOP or WBOP events but they also had Science Fair on that week so declined. Yr 7 & 8 BOP Finals are being held on Wednesday, 23rd August. A few teams who qualified for the finals will not be attending due to other school commitments on that day (Te Puna and Kaitao). I have invited Awakeri to come through but have not heard back from them yet. Finals for Junior Secondary School champs were held at QEYC Hall on Thursday, 10th August. We had 27 teams competing with the results as follows: Division One Girls Division One Boys 1st Bethlehem 1st Bethlehem 1 2nd Otumoetai College 2nd Bethlehem 1 3rd Taupo Nui A Tia 3rd Tauranga Boys A 4th Western Heights H.S 4th John Paul College 5th Whakatane Gold 5th Te Puke 6th Whakatane Black Division Two Girls Division Two Boys 1st Taupo Nui a Tia 2 1st Bethlehem College A 2nd Te Wharekura o Ruatoki 2nd Bethlehem College B 3rd Tauranga Girls College Yellow 3rd Whakatane H.S 4th Edgecumbe College 4th Tauhara College 5th Tauranga Girls College Orange 5th Te Wharekura o Ruatoki 6th Te Puke 6th Edgecumbe College 1 7th Whakatane Pink 7th Edgecumbe College 1 8th Whakatane Yellow 8th Taupo Nui a Tia Finals for Senior Secondary School Champs are being held at held at QEYC Hall on Thursday, 17th August. Admin/Funding/Fundraising In the process of completing the Audit requirements for Southern Trust for the Palmerston North Trip. Have been working on organisation for Aims Games (food, coffee, hall and setup requirements with QEYC etc). Steady progress with accounts and payments coming in from juniors for the Palmerston North trip and good progress with player fees and a very old/outstanding debt has been cleared fully. A couple of meeting with Stephanie Kelly (new Place and Spaces strategy manager for Sport BOP) regarding TCC land and hall plans. Organised the trip to the Skycity Badminton International – feedback about this trip has been fantastic!! Kiwisport – Kickstart grant application submitted for $2,000 for new school rackets Agreement / Payment schedule received for Kiwisport Major Funds for 2018 year. Attended CoachForce team meeting – working on Coaching Passport I still have invoicing to do/send to the schools who participated in the Yr 7 & 8 tournament. Tournaments/Events AIMS Games Entries have been confirmed at 178 players. We have players coming from Cook Islands and Tonga again this year. Am in the process of loading all the information into Tournament Software. BOP Interclub Fantastic entries for the 2017 BOP Interclub – total of 25 teams – and increase of 6 teams from 2016!!! First round has been completed with the second round being held at Rotorua Badminton Hall on Sunday, 24th September. North Island & BOP under 15 Champs Pretty good entries for the North Island /BOP under 15 Championships that was held on 12/13 August 2017 at the QEYC Hall in Tauranga.
