2 THEOVISION INTERNATIONAL MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER

journey of a thousand miles, indeed, begins with a single step and I’m glad God gave me Athe vision 30 years ago to take the bold step to start Theovision International. For those who are not aware of the meaning of the name Theovision, it simply means “God’s vision”. THEO is the Greek word for God which is combined with the English word VISION – hence THEOVISION – God’s vision.

When God started with me on this journey, it was not difficult to respond because He had shown me an unploughed field. I didn’t count the cost. If I had, I would have given up along the way because of the enormous challenges I encountered. God’s call is still alive in me now as it was 30 years ago. This was His clear Word to me, “My people need to hear my Word in a form they can best receive; go and make it available to them.” This vision of the audio Bible in indigenous languages has been flourishing and it keeps touching the hearts of many throughout Africa. I’m overjoyed to see that Theovision has become a source of joy, hope, and comfort for many people.

I pray you will feel the same urgency that we at Theovision feel every day about the need to reach out to the many who have not yet heard God’s Word.

I thank all of our Partners and Donors who have supported the ministry since its inception. Many lives have been blessed because of your support. It is our prayer that the good Lord restores and refreshes you in every area of your life. I PRAY YOU WILL FEEL THE SAME URGENCY THAT WE Would you make this your vision too? Then join us AT THEOVISION FEEL EVERY touch Africa with audio Scriptures in the mother tongue whiles we wait for the return of our soon DAY ABOUT THE NEED TO coming King! REACH OUT TO THE MANY WHO HAVE NOT YET HEARD GOD’S WORD. Theodore M. Asare

After successfully recording these languages, there arose an increased demand for the audio Bible in other languages across Africa.

This feat would not have been accomplished without the partnership of organizations such as Hosanna/Faith Comes By Hearing (FCBH), GILLBT, The Bible Societies and Wycliffe Bible Translators. With the high demand for audio Bible recording in Africa, a recording centre was established in Kenya, East Africa in 2003 and another one in Nigeria in 2004.

Theovision’s ultimate goal is to produce audio Scriptures in every indigenous language that is spoken in Africa. Behind the miracle of each “Oral Bible” is a hardworking team of recording technicians with many years of experience in digital sound recording. Since the recordings began, blending in and working with natives from different cultural and religious backgrounds has won the organization many friends that extend past the borders of Ghana.

The recording of the audio Bibles hasn’t come without challenges, some of which have been life- threatening. In spite of this, the recording teams are still passionate to ensure that every language has an audio Bible.

The recording equipment that was used has improved over the years from reel-to-reel machines to laptop computers. These improvements have saved time, cost and labour and made it possible to get the recordings out faster to the people who are hungry for God’s Word.

Here are some of the excitement shared on the Theovision App:

30TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL 9 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND HEALTHCARE

id you know that close to six million people in Ghana depend Don surface water for their daily water needs which makes them prone to water-related diseases? Millions of people die from curable diseases because of lack of healthcare. According to Ghana Water and Sanitation Agency (GWSA), out of about 19,000 cases reported in Ghana, 5,100 children under the age of 5 die each year from diarrhoea.

Theovision came face to face with some of these challenges in the communities where Bible Listening Groups had been established. As a result, the Community Development and Healthcare arm was birthed in 2008 to attend to the dire physical needs of people we minister to since our organization believes in a holistic approach to ministry.

Eleven years down the line, our organization has provided free healthcare to over 23,000 people throughout Ghana. Apart from the free medical care, many communities have also benefited from clean drinking water and public places of convenience. Through these social interventions, many communities have opened up to the Bible Listening program. As a result, we are

12 THEOVISION INTERNATIONAL 30TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL 13 NEW LIFE OPPORTUNITY SKILLS

14 THEOVISION INTERNATIONAL overty has remained a strong factor that underpins all societal ills. PIn Ghana, many people in some communities live in abject poverty. A number of young people have dropped out of school because their parents cannot afford the cost of education. Such young ones are left on their own to fight for their survival, and as a result, usually, relinquish their decent standards and follow dangerous paths.

To help curb the problem, Theovision’s New Life Opportunity Program was started to train selected young women in sewing and bead-making at no cost in order to empower them to make a living for themselves. Over the past four years, a total of 80 females and two males have benefited from this training.

s a media organization, radio was a golden opportunity Ain the spread of the Word of God for Theovision International. The Bible Listening programs that were being broadcast on existing local radio stations had a tremendous impact on the listeners. Thus, when the opportunity came in 2010 for Theovision to own radio stations, it was a dream come true. Theovision makes use of this radio network namely Radio Gaakii (Faith) 88.1 in Saboba, ; Nkonim (Victory) FM 93.7 in Asamankese, the Eastern Region and

18 THEOVISION INTERNATIONAL Nkwa (Life) FM 88.3 in Assin Fosu, Central Region to preach the Gospel, educate, inform, entertain and transform lives.

In addition to the propagation of the Gospel, the programs aired for the past nine years on these radio stations have helped to solve social and developmental problems in communities within their catchment areas. A case in point is a program aired on Radio Gaaki to address child labour, child marriage and female genital mutilation which is having an incredible impact on the lives of the people.

AUDIO AND VIDEO

n the early 1990s, Theovision began to produce video and audio programs Iin local languages for Churches and Christian organizations in Ghana. We have grown since then to become a world-class entity that translates and contextualizes educative materials as well as record audio in all languages. Through this means, we are able to secure some funds to promote the Gospel.

We also cover and produce video and audio contents for conferences and other Christian events. Our audio and video studios are well equipped to produce quality contents such as lip synchronization, voice dubbing, motion graphics and animation among others among others, in both Vernacular and English.

30TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL 19 FUNDRAISING

he success of Theovision International lies in the overwhelming prayer and Tfinancial support from local Partners towards our course. For over a decade now, our organization has been raising funds locally to support our work. Our team of dedicated staff who have been assigned to solicit for funds have been knocking on the doors of individuals, Churches and organizations to raise support for the Bible Listening and other programs we undertake.

Partners have responded by sponsoring missionaries on the field, paying for the cost of Audio Bibles and supporting various social and health relief projects. In recent times, some Partners have sponsored the setting up of Bible Listening programs in selected unreached and unengaged areas in Ghana.

One event Theovision organized, as part of its 30th Anniversary Celebration, is the “REACH Campaign” to raise funds for new Bible Listening Groups. Today, with the support of our cherished partners, we are reaching thousands of people in many rural Ghanaian communities.

20 THEOVISION INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN MINISTRY

hen Bible Listening Groups are established Win the various communities, many children would be present to participate in the listening. Unfortunately, the organization through monitoring these listening groups noticed that children, although were active attendees, were not comfortable enough to participate in adult conversations around the Bible.

In the year 2014, the Children Ministry was created to enable children in rural communities to experience God as they had the opportunity to now interact with the various scriptures they heard through the Audio Bible. Today, the Children’s Ministry has been established in many rural communities, school and churches to allow Children have a deeper encounter with God and experience their own transformation.

“LET THE LITTLE CHILDREN COME TO ME, AND DO NOT HINDER THEM, FOR THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN BELONGS TO SUCH AS THESE” - MATTHEW 19:14

30TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL 21 TRAINING NATIONALS

n line with Theovision’s vision to help Christians effectively communicate the Gospel through Imedia, a training program began in 1995 to equip up-and-coming professionals with skills in modern media. Also, the organization has since 2013 partnered with Moody Radio (Chicago-USA) to provide intensive hands-on training for over 2,000 African media professionals.

It was through this initiative that the Christian Broadcasters’ Network (CBNET) was birthed in Accra, Ghana.

Many Churches, Christian organizations and individuals have benefited from the training modules in Television Production, Video and Audio Technology, Journalism, Graphic Designing, Social Media, Church Sound Systems, Leadership, Church Planting and Counselling.

y name is Penny. I came from East India to Kenya in 2010 to minister in Ayan village in East Pokot, MBaringo County. In Ayan there were no churches. With the help of the African Gospel Church, we planted seven churches. However, we only had two pastors who unfortunately were semi-literate. This situation really troubled us because we knew that having a church without preachers was going to be difficult.

It was at this time that God brought Theovision International to start a Bible Listening program in the community. On Sundays, we would listen to and discuss the Pokot audio Bible and encourage each other. It gave me great joy when even children participated in the discussions.

Sometimes I would take the audio Bible to the men’s “socializing places” and play it whiles they would be taking the local brew. Many of them have now become receptive to the Gospel and have surrendered their lives to Christ. Great things are happening because the Word of God is powerful. Glory to God!

26 THEOVISION INTERNATIONAL LOOKING BEYOND

he great commission to go and make disciples of all nations still stands. Whereas there are Tstill people who have not acknowledged Jesus as Lord, this commission is as relevant and as urgent today as when Jesus first gave it.

As Theovision celebrates 30 years of spreading the Word of God through recording and promoting the use of audio Bibles in over 400 languages, there is the tendency to be complacent, but the harvest is still plentiful. Our prayer for the next 30 years and beyond is that we will reach the unreached with the Word of God, the Lord being our help.
