Invitation of Student Artists to the 26th Summer , ,

In August, 2011 when the 26th Summer Universiade is held in Shenzhen, China, the Universiade Athlete Village will be the living home to nearly 20,000 athletes from around the world. It has already been a practice to organize cultural programs in the Village in accordance with the tenet of FISU (International University Sports Federation) and the experiences of previous Universiade games. (For information about 26th Summer Universiade and FISU, please visit www.sz2011.org, and www. fisu.net) The Executive Office of the Organizing Committee for the 26th Summer Universiade, Shenzhen now invites world-wide university student artists to provide artistic performances in the Village. 1. Applicant Qualifications 1) The applicant must be a student officially registered with a university. 2) The applicant must have rich and creative experiences in artistic performances. 2. The theme of the performances: build a platform of communication and friendship for world-wide university students. 3. The Programs mainly reflect three cultures: 1) University culture, which is to show the dynamics and vigor of university students; 2) Shenzhen’s creative culture, which is to fully reflect Shenzhen as a city of creativeness and innovation; 3) Chinese traditional culture with Shenzhen’s culture as a focus. 4. Venue and performance information 1) Flag-raising square: 3,000 square meters; open-air venue with no seats; mainly used for large-scale cultural performances; the time for performance generally controlled in 120 minutes; program forms and art styles not limited, e.g., large-scale singing and dancing performances, band performances, magic shows, acrobatics, fashion shows, cheerleading dance, martial arts, mask ball, interactive games, and other varieties of square activities. Date: night time from August 13th to August 22nd, 2011. 2) Indoor Hall: 1,000 square meters; 900 seats; mainly used for the performance and display of indoor cultural activities; the time for performance generally controlled in 90 minutes; program forms and art styles: symphonic concerts, indoor music performances, drama, avant-garde film exhibitions, lectures, and other theater activities. Date: night time from August 13th to August 22nd, 2011. 3) Cultural Interactive Area: a roofed semi-enclosed space of 1,000 square meters; program forms and art styles: interactive cultural activities, such as traditional cultural shows, fashion shows, interactive games, andoriginalcreative product market. Date: full day from August 6th to August 25th, 2011. 5. Arrangement We will provide proper sites, boarding and lodging. Student artists are required to bring their costumes, makeup, props and musical instruments, etc. The number of the people in a performance shall be less than 20 persons. As the performances are purely no-profit, we only cover the actual costs for the artists. Please detail the costs in the attached form. 6.
