2016 Performance-Based Pay Distributions Announced
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 3/16/2017 http://www.twitter.com/NFL345 2016 PERFORMANCE-BASED PAY DISTRIBUTIONS ANNOUNCED NFL Players will receive $127.84 million in “Performance-Based Pay” for their performance during the 2016 season, the NFL announced today. The Performance-Based Pay program is a collectively- bargained benefit that compensates players based upon their playing time and salary levels. In addition to the Performance-Based Pay pool, the NFL Players Association has elected to dedicate $32 million in benefits (i.e., $1 million per club) to fund a Veteran Performance-Based Compensation Pool (the “Veteran Pool”) for players with more than one Accrued Season. In total, $159.84 million will be disbursed to players under the combined pools. Atlanta Falcons cornerback BRIAN POOLE earned the highest amount in the Performance-Based Pay program. Oakland Raiders guard GABE JACKSON earned the most in the Veteran Pool. Under the combined pools, Atlanta safety RICARDO ALLEN earned the highest amount of all NFL players. See the tables below for the top 25 bonuses in each category. Players have been paid over $1.2 billion cumulatively since the inception of the Performance-Based Pay program, which was implemented as part of the NFL’s 2002 Collective Bargaining Agreement with the NFL Players Association, and continues as part of the parties’ current agreement. The Veteran Pool is a component of the Rookie Redistribution Fund, which is a player benefit that was created under the 2011 Collective Bargaining Agreement. The NFL Players Association elected to fund the Veteran Pool for the first time this past year. -
James Lofton
THE COFFIN CORNER: Vol. 25, No. 4 (2003) James Lofton Wide receiver James Lofton was the No. 1 draft pick of the Green Bay Packers in 1978. An Academic All-America choice from Stanford, he was also an accomplished track performer and won the NCAA long jump title as a senior. Lofton's speed and "soft hands" made him an immediate deep-threat receiver from the moment he entered the pros. It was something he would remain throughout his long career with Green Bay, the Los Angeles Raiders, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Rams, and the Philadelphia Eagles. In 16 seasons, Lofton caught 764 passes for 14,004 yards - an average of 18.3 yards per catch. Nine times he recorded more than 50 catches in a season. His 14,004 career-reception yardage mark was an NFL best at the time of his retirement, while his 43 games with 100 or more yards receiving ranked third. Extremely durable, Lofton was the first NFL player to score a touchdown in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Many of his 75 touchdown receptions came on long passes when he simply outran the opposition. During his nine seasons in Green Bay, Lofton was selected to play in seven Pro Bowls. He led the Packers in receptions each year except one (1979). Five of those years he gained more than 1,000 receiving yards. He was only the fifth player in NFL history to do so, joining the likes of Lance Alworth, Steve Largent, Don Maynard, and Art Powell. In 1987, Lofton was traded to the Raiders, and two years later joined the Bills. -

PRO FOOTBALL HALL of FAME TEACHER ACTIVITY GUIDE 2020-2021 Edition
PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME TEACHER ACTIVITY GUIDE 2020-2021 EDITIOn Quarterback Joe Namath - Hall of fame class of 1985 nEW YORK JETS Team History The history of the New York franchise in the American Football League is the story of two distinct organizations, the Titans and the Jets. Interlocking the two in continuity is the player personnel which went with the franchise in the ownership change from Harry Wismer to a five-man group headed by David “Sonny” Werblin in February 1963. The three-year reign of Wismer, who was granted a charter AFL franchise in 1959, was fraught with controversy. The on-the-field happenings of the Titans were often overlooked, even in victory, as Wismer moved from feud to feud with the thoughtlessness of one playing Russian roulette with all chambers loaded. In spite of it all, the Titans had reasonable success on the field but they were a box office disaster. Werblin’s group purchased the bankrupt franchise for $1,000,000, changed the team name to Jets and hired Weeb Ewbank as head coach. In 1964, the Jets moved from the antiquated Polo Grounds to newly- constructed Shea Stadium, where the Jets set an AFL attendance mark of 45,665 in the season opener against the Denver Broncos. Ewbank, who had enjoyed championship success with the Baltimore Colts in the 1950s, patiently began a building program that received a major transfusion on January 2, 1965 when Werblin signed Alabama quarterback Joe Namath to a rumored $400,000 contract. The signing of the highly-regarded Namath proved to be a major factor in the eventual end of the AFL-NFL pro football war of the 1960s. -

1967 APBA PRO FOOTBALL SET ROSTER the Following Players Comprise the 1967 Season APBA Pro Football Player Card Set
1967 APBA PRO FOOTBALL SET ROSTER The following players comprise the 1967 season APBA Pro Football Player Card Set. The regular starters at each position are listed first and should be used most frequently. Realistic use of the players below will generate statistical results remarkably similar to those from real life. IMPORTANT: When a Red "K" appears in the R-column as the result on any kind of running play from scrimmage or on any return, roll the dice again, refer to the K-column, and use the number there for the result. When a player has a "K" in his R-column, he can never be used for kicking or punting. If the symbol "F-K" or "F-P" appears on a players card, it means that you use the K or P column when he recovers a fumble. Players in bold are starters. If there is a difference between the player's card and the roster sheet, always use the card information. The number in ()s after the player name is the number of cards that the player has in this set. See below for a more detailed explanation of new symbols on the cards. The Professional Football Researchers Association The AFL’s First Super Team Pro Football Insiders Debate Whether the AFL Champion San Diego Chargers Could Have Beaten the Bears in a 1963 Super Bowl By Ed Gruver It's an impossible question, but one that continues to intrigue until January 12, 1969, when Joe Namath quarterbacked the members of the 1963 AFL champion San Diego Chargers. upstart New York Jets to a stunning 16-7 victory over the heavily- favored Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III, that the AFL earned its If the Super Bowl had started with the 1963 season instead of first championship game win over the NFL.
