Directed by John Carney (Once, Begin Again), the coming‐of‐age film stars newcomer Ferdia Walsh‐Peelo in the lead role as schoolboy Conor Lawley, who sets up a band to impress an older girl. Little Scream says she began conceiving of Cult Following while visiting a friend in a small intentional community in northern Brazil that was on the verge of becoming a cult. “People were running around reading auras, interpreting each other’s dreams, and ‘living on light’ instead of eating—which was as compelling as it was absurd. Key Points: Toronto-based raucous rock outfit Say Yes have just announced their debut LP Real Life Trash Mag will be released via Dine Alone Records on April 29, 2016. Co-produced with Eric Ratz (Billy Talent, Big Wreck) and Billy Talent guitarist Ian D’Sa, the LP was recorded live off the floor at Vespa Studios in Toronto.

Comprised of drummer and principal songwriters Jordan Hastings, bassist Michael Zane, and guitarist/vocalist Adam Michael, the band features longtime veterans of Canada’s underground rock scene – and alumni of acts like Alexisonfire, Saint Alvia, and Jersey – who waste little time leveraging their talent and experience to gain considerable traction in a few short years. On the back of their explosive debut EP, Say Yes logged countless hours on North American highways, bringing their no-holds-barred brand of riotous rock to countless dive bars, some major festivals, and everything in between. Subsequently, much of the material comprising Real Life Trash Mag has been road tested and fan approved, and the heavy touring has been a welcome catalyst for the band’s development. “Getting closer as a band and having a better idea of what we want to be, our sound is more unified this time around,” Michael says. “These songs are more straightforward and easy to latch onto.” Lead single “Once Forward Twice Back” kicks off the festivities as any album opener should: with a sampling of everything that follows. From its pounding lead riff to its soaring and sticky chorus and sing-along-ready “whoas,” the track embodies everything there is to like about Say Yes. Lyrically, Real Life Trash Mag treads heavily in sarcasm and cynicism, pointing a dark-tinged lens at its askew antagonists to exploit everyday vices and (false) virtues. “So it basically reveals their individual deviance and leads towards their collective demise in the end,” Michael shares – all set to Say Yes’s blazing and boisterous soundtrack.

Thanks to their diverse musical collage, Say Yes have already impressed fans from a myriad of different backgrounds. “Our roots run deep in a few different scenes,” Hastings points out, putting them in equally good company alongside past tourmates like The Sheepdogs, Danko Jones, Head of the Herd, The Flatliners, and at major events like Canadian Music Week, Riot Fest, and Burlington’s Sound of Music Festival. The band is set to bring their fictitious Trash Mag friends and frenzy-inducing performances back on the road in the coming months. “We just want to be busy and get as many people amped up as we can,” comments Zane. Escondido is Nashville, TN based artists Jessica Maros and Tyler James. Their David Lynch approved sound has become the soundtrack to multiple films and TV shows including HBO's Girls and Sex Tape and led to performances on Conan and ABC's Nashville. Following tours with the likes of Lord Huron, The Lone Bellow, Said The Whale, Wild Cub and Islands, the duo recently completed their follow‐up album, Walking With A Stranger, available now.

The pair met in 2011, bonding over a shared love of spaghetti westerns and music out of Laurel Canyon and Nashville in the 70s. The band's inception marked a new chapter for both members. Maros, originally from Vancouver, BC found success as a jewelry and clothing designer, worn by the likes of Prince and Lady Antebellum making the red carpet at the Oscars and CMAs. James, a small‐town Iowa native, spent a decade on the road as a solo artist before joining Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros as keyboardist in 2010.

While Escondido’s sophomore album retains their southwest fantasia, swirling trumpet, and slow‐motion reverb, the approach has changed. “Our first record was lightning in a bottle,” says James. “This time around was a hibernation so we could dig into the arrangements and sounds.” The result is a complex landscape ranging from the aggressive noir of “Footprints” and “Heart is Black” to the love lost ballad “Try”.

Though they’ve been playing together since 2006, the members of Toronto-based pop-rock quartet Jane’s Party - Devon Richardson, Tom Ionescu, Jeff Giles, and Zach Sutton – feel like they’re just starting to gather steam.

Ready to take off after years roving Toronto’s vibrant bar scene and touring great swaths of Canada, their third full-length album, Tunnel Visions, arrives as their most confident and mature effort to date. Produced by Blue Rodeo’s Greg Keelor and recorded at his remote farm in Southern Ontario, it’s comprised of songs about being on the road, about losing loved ones, about growing up and coming to grips with life.

Even while running the gamut of emotions and themes, the bandmates never lose the buoyant, hooky songwriting or soulful harmonies they’ve honed over nearly a decade of collaboration, and their hard-won chemistry is evident in how effortless the execution comes off. With Tunnel Visions, they offer an original take on a classic sound, with compositions that feel at once familiar and fresh. Their diverse array of sounds jumps across and often fuses genres – from folk to funk to stripped-down guitar rock, with synth-pop flourishes and splashes of grunge. These are plaintive songs and gritty songs, songs that strike a tonal balance between chip-on the-shoulder tenacity and Sunday morning malaise, between small-town intimacy and big-city bravado.

The production, too, is polished to a sheen, with input from outside voices entering the picture for the first time. Lead single “Coming on Strong” is co-produced by The Darcys and features legendary singer/songwriter Jim Cuddy on backing vocals. The album, mixed by Chris Stringer and mastered by Joao Carvalho, showcases a sound that’s more layered and sonically rich than anything the band has created thus far. This is a long way from the Jane’s Party that recorded and self-produced their debut album in a garage in Toronto’s Jane and Finch neighborhood.

Two years in the making, Tunnel Visions speaks of a band that’s found itself, and of one of Toronto’s best-kept secrets stepping out of the shadows.

Born in England and raised in Toronto, Michelle Willis is a 30‐year old singer/songwriter and keyboard player who comes from a family of “Lets sing that James Taylor song again” kind of people at the holidays. She spent most of her upbringing singing in church choirs and “stealing Carole King and Ray Charles records.” Since graduating from the Humber College jazz program, Michelle stayed busy as a sidewoman keyboard player and backing vocalist for a number of bands and songwriters in Toronto, while also performing her own original music in the Toronto area. Michelle has shared the stage and studio with artists such as the Zac Brown Band, Snarky Puppy, Iggy & The Stooges, Parachute Club and Nikki Yanofsky to name a few.

In 2015, Michelle wrote and recorded See Us Through, her debut solo album, set for release globally on May 13 on GroundUP/Universal Music Classics. The first single is the song, “It’ll Rain Today.” Michelle describes the song here: “`It’ll Rain Today' was inspired by people in my family who struggle with depression, and the daily battle they have to fight just to make it through a day. Even without depression, there are certainly times for everyone when the stress or pain or reality comes from all sides, and it seems impossible to process. I think it’s also a song for the people who surround us in times like that, who are doing everything they can to love but so often feel helpless. It affects us all and this song is meant to show and give love and some kind of support in a way that only music can."

We are excited to bring you four new additions to our global Back To Black vinyl range reissuing highlights from the critically acclaimed Steve Earle back catalogue on 180‐gram heavyweight vinyl, due for release 6th May 2016. The four albums represent key catalogue pillars in the illustrious career of the U.S Hard Rock & Country hero.

The product suite includes the Billboard Country chart topping debut Guitar Town which title track saw Earle nominated for two Grammy awards in 1987 (Best Male Country Vocalist and Best Country Song) as well as follow up Exit 0 which, recorded with backing band The Dukes, saw a similar stylistic direction to the debut & resulted in more Grammy nominations and airplay success with key album cut ‘Nowhere Road’.

With 1988’s Copperhead Road, the injection of a fierce arena‐sized guitar sound saw an unabashed Hard Rock stylistic shift that spawned critical and commercial acclaim on a global scale ‐ the defining title track remaining a timeless foot‐stomping rock staple.

Calgary singer songwriter Michael Bernard Fitzgerald (MBF) has been a fixture on the music scene since he released his debut LP “Love” in 2009. He’s been on the road ever since, touring throughout North America (US and Canada) with the likes of; Joel Plaskett, Stars, The Wallflowers, Elliott Brood, Steve Winwood, Third Eye Blind, Toad The West Sprocket, Bobby Long, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Lights and many more. Michael has officially showcased at NXNE, SXSW, ATAA, CMW COCA, WCMA(nominated), and Sunset Sessions Radio Expo in the US (both Las Vegas and Carlsbad, California). His second full‐length, “Yes” was released in 2013 and the two independent records have racked up close to 9000 copies sold.

MBF’s accolades include Calgary’s Avenue Magazine’s “40 Under 40” in 2013. Also in 2013, Michael was nominated by Sirius XM Canada in “Best New Artist” category. Michael’s live studio performance at Sirius studios in Toronto is still being played on the station “Iceberg.”

In support of the release of Michael’s 2016 album “I Wanna Make It With You,” the first single off the album has been delivered to radio starting in Dec of 2015. To date, March 16, 2016, the song is #25 on the Alt Radio charts and is gaining momentum. “I Wanna Make It With You” has been added by The Peak in Vancouver, X in Calgary, Sirius XM’s The Verge, 88.5 The Drive in Ottawa, The Bridge in Lethbridge, 106.7 The Drive in Red Deer, Live 105 in Halifax. The song has received spotlight spins on The Zone in Victoria, The Edge in Toronto, Sonic in Edmonton, 88.7 in Detroit, and 93.5 in Laguna Beach, we expect adds in some these markets shortly. This single will continue to be worked at radio until late May/June by Mike Rice for RPM.

Regarding PR, Tiffany Astle for penelopePR has been working this album from January 2016‐June 2016. Michael, and some of the members of his band, have already held private, “hotel room” performances in key cities for press and other industry tastemakers. These cities Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, and Halifax. Michael is set to revisit Ontario for key radio station visits at Indie 88 in Toronto, and alternative radio in Kingston and Ottawa from March 28‐March 30 2016. Also, in support of the album release, Michael has performed on breakfast/morning TV in Calgary (release day), Vancouver, Edmonton, and Toronto.

According to Michael regarding his new album: "I Wanna Make It With You" is a record born in longing. Best put, it is music to get a speeding ticket to. An honest and reflective lyric over a bed of driving drums, electric guitars, bass, strings and voices.”

Michael played to a sold out show on Jan 30, 2016 to celebrate the completion of the album at The Jack Singer Concert Hall in Calgary. Joined by his band, 150 choir members, an orchestra and conductor, and stationary cyclers Michael played to a crowd of over 1500 people. And, in support of the album release on Mar 11, 2016, Michael played a secret hometown show at one of MBF’s favorite spots in Calgary called The Ship and Anchor. With a lineup wrapped around the block, the venue was at capacity for Michael’s performance. On Mar 14 2016, Michael was invited to headline the “Listening to Our City” fundraiser for MusiCounts, Canada’s music education charity associated with CARAS and the JUNO Awards.

Regarding touring, Michael is booked by Lindsey Myers and Scott Clayton for CAA. Plan is to embark on tour Canadian tour and play key festival dates that have been booked throughout the summer (Full tour is being booked now, will be announced soon.)

Indeed, The National’s debut was a portent. The group took form around five displaced Ohioans living in New York – two sets of brothers and one best friend. Formed in Brooklyn in 1999, the band’s line-up has remained consistent to this day with vocalist Matt Berninger fronting two pairs of brothers: Aaron (guitar, bass, piano) and Bryce Dessner (guitar), and Scott (bass, guitar) and Bryan Devendorf (drums).

Recording sessions for The National’s second album, Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers, took the band to seven different studios, from Williambsurg to suburban Connecticut. They worked with Nick Lloyd as well as co-producers Peter Katis (fresh off his work on Interpol’s Turn On The Bright Lights) and Paul Heck, a long time A&R man who had worked on projects like Red Hot & Riot and Luaka Bop’s 2001 Shuggie Otis reissues. Padma Newsome, of the alt-classical quartet Clogs, contributed string arrangements on a number of tracks. Katis also adds some dazzling keyboard underpinnings.

While their debut album was recorded before the band had performed live, Sad Songs is a record packed with the energy and dynamics only a stage-savvy and road-weary group can attain. It was a great leap forward for the band, an omnibus of rock songwriting that is by turns upbeat and downcast, electric and acoustic, raging and atmospheric.

The National’s sophomore album, Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers (2003), found the band emerging onto a larger stage. Uncut called it “a genuine treasure” and named it an album of the year; it was hailed by Rolling Stone and the indie media; and Magnet, La Liberation (Paris), and the Chicago Tribune were only a few of the publications to tap it for their year-end lists.

In France, the band had become such a sensation that renowned DJ Bernard Lenoir invited them to perform on his Black Sessions – following US buzz bands like The Rapture and Interpol. A track from that session, “Murder me Rachel” occupies the warm-blooded heart of Cherry Tree, a 7-song collection that delves the depths and brought their tension-wire rock to new heights. Mirror is the first ECM New Series album from Estonian composer Tonu Korvitz (born 1969), who emphasizes his links to his homelands music at several levels.

The album begins with a fantasy on a song by Veljo Tormis. Like the older composer, Korvitz has been influenced by folk song and archaic musical tradition, which find their echo in the refined and texturally-rich spectrum of his own, labyrinthine pieces. His music is well served here by the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir under Tonu Kaljustes assured direction and by soloist Anja Lechner. Lechners cello is foregrounded in Peegeldused Tasaset Maast (2013), Laul (2012, rev. 2013) and the albums largest piece Seitsme Linnu Seitse Und (2009, rev. 2012), a collaboration with the poet Maarja Kangro, which is both choral suite and cello concerto.

In these seven dreams of seven birds the choir sings in Estonian and English and the cello conjures both birdsong and swooping flight. Tasase Maa Laul (Plainland Song), a fresh arrangement of a Tormis melody has Kadri Voorand as vocal soloist, supported by strings and by Tonu Korvitz on kannel, the Estonian psaltery.

This 23 CD box set bears witness to Mehta’s work in the recording studio for Decca between May 1965 (Bruckner’s Ninth Symphony with the Wiener Philharmoniker) and July 1980 (Tchaikovsky’s Capriccio italien with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra). The bulk of the recordings date from the 1970s, and the period of white‐hot inspiration when Mehta achieved and consolidated his international reputation.
