Overview

The V6 Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) portfolio delivers a single, open, and scalable SOA platform that spans the complete business enterprise. It natively delivers the engineering, manufacturing, and simulation applications needed to enable users to remotely create and collaborate online.

Global collaborative innovation

V6 gives anyone who has a stake in the product the ability to participate in its life cycle. It offers unparalleled breadth of collaboration because it embraces the product's creators and its ecosystem, such as people in procurement or marketing inside or outside the enterprise, as well as consumers. Because it uses the universal language of 3D, everybody can participate in a product's life cycle.

IBM Asia Pacific Software Announcement IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 1 AP09-0201 V6 enables viral collaboration. Online communities can form in an ad-hoc fashion, allowing people to connect, exchange views, chat, and act on-the-fly in 3D.

With global collaborative innovation, companies can maximize their intellectual assets to drive the best innovative practices.

Lifelike experience

V6 allows the virtual product to mirror real life. Products look realistic (through rendering) and behave as they would in real life because the model contains the physics.

Additionally, the V6 interface is intuitive. Any user can easily search for information, communicate, collaborate, and experience products online in 3D.

A single PLM platform for intellectual property management

The sheer volume of intellectual property (IP) necessitates strong IP management capabilities across a product's life cycle. The V6 PLM platform delivers a federated view and access to all relevant knowledge, whether the information is in the PLM system, another enterprise application, or from an unstructured data source. This harnesses the collective intelligence of the extended enterprise. V6 merges the various ENOVIA collaboration capabilities, including those of prior versions of MatrixOne, VPLM, and SmarTeam, into a single ENOVIA collaboration solution.

Online creation and collaboration

Product authoring and collaboration are enabled for real-time, concurrent work across multiple remote locations over the Web. For example, a designer with CATIA on a laptop working from home can log in and directly edit a model residing on a server in the office. Online collaboration also applies to the various views of product definition:

• Requirements view • Functional view • Logical view • Physical view

Online creation and collaboration are also critical to any company seeking to implement a global engineering and manufacturing strategy.

Ready-to-use PLM business processes

V6 covers PLM processes across a wide range of industries and unifies engineering processes and all enterprise business processes. V6 industry accelerators capture the value within each industry and provide industry-specific PLM product development best practices and capabilities. As a result, deployments are faster and deliver a return on investment sooner.

Lower cost of ownership

Having a single database for all applications dramatically reduces the cost of ownership and spurs efficient collaboration. From a CATIA perspective, design methodologies remain similar to those employed in CATIA V5, minimizing retraining costs. In addition, embracing SOA standards allows easy integration with existing systems and modeling of business processes without requiring programming skills, supporting an adaptable business model.

V6R2010 enhancements

V6R2010 focuses on accessibility, simplicity, and readiness to make it easier than ever to benefit from PLM 2.0. In particular, direct modeling, expert realistic simulation technology for designers, and the ability to model and simulate the dynamic behavior of systems debut in V6R2010.

IBM Asia Pacific Software Announcement IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 2 AP09-0201 V6R2010 delivers important product enhancements across the full V6 portfolio - CATIA, DELMIA, , ENOVIA, and - in line with each of the core values critical to enabling PLM 2.0:

Global collaborative innovation -- expands PLM to include business users, as well as consumers, in a product's life cycle, using the universal language of 3D and the power of online communities.

• Customers now have the ability to use their own applications to feature tailored, 3D lifelike experiences. With 3DVIA Composer Player Pro (PYP), customers can now build customized user experiences leveraging interactive 3D documentation, such as Web-based or on-board service guides. • Advances in program management allow a user to coordinate and simultaneously manage multiple changes within highly complex products. These advances ensure accurate execution of changes, global tracking, and complete traceability at the program level. • Non-traditional PLM business users can further leverage their 3D content stored in ENOVIA by navigating and filtering 3D assembly data using the power of 3DLive to produce and update interactive documentation.

Lifelike experience -- Advanced product innovation requires that a 3D product be experienced as it looks and behaves in real life, and that it has an intuitive interface that mimics real life.

• CATIA Live Shape, the revolutionary direct editing modeler, allows users to quickly create design concepts and modify existing designs, including those from other CAD tools, using direct 3D intuitive manipulation with contextual balloons. Collaboration with CAD specialists is simplified by the seamless integration with feature-based modeling. • High-end, real-time rendering capabilities are delivered for all CATIA users. • Significant technical illustration enhancements include the ShadowCaster color vectorization engine, which automates the creation of contour lines and shadows that a technical illustrator would normally draw by hand. In addition, industry- standard S1000D and WebCGM formats are now supported.

A single PLM platform for intellectual property management -- Harnessing a company's collective intelligence, a key aspect of PLM 2.0, requires a single platform that can federate all product-related knowledge no matter where it resides, not just within the engineering and manufacturing realms, but all the way from idea to product experience.

• The introduction of SIMULIA products on the V6 platform with DesignSight Structure allows designers to run robust realistic simulations with the same finite element analysis (FEA) technology used by expert analysts. The product suite is engineered for the design community and does not require extensive simulation expertise. • IP security applications help users in globalized industries limit their exposure to IP loss and to large fines by managing and enforcing export control compliance (for example, international traffic in arms regulations (ITAR) for the aero and defense industries) and internal company policies.

Online collaboration and creation -- Collaborative online creation offers authoring using real-time Web technology, and brings product requirements together with functional, logical, and physical (RFLP) definitions of the product.

• Two major advances have been made in systems engineering, the multidisciplinary design methodology that integrates RFLP product definitions: – Systems architects can easily model - using technology and library components - and simulate the dynamic behavior of multi-disciplinary systems. This represents a major step forward for systems engineering, allowing for systems simulation in the 3D digital mockup in operation. – A tailored environment allows electrical designers to easily define their 2D logical architectures, including wire harness and nets, connectors and ports, and so on.

IBM Asia Pacific Software Announcement IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 3 AP09-0201 • Extensions to the V6 kinematic and structural analysis capabilities allow users to match current V5 functions. • Within the Digital Manufacturing domain, users can develop and associate multiple resource layouts to a process plan. This enables users to make better decisions on which scenario or facility is best in terms of cost, capacity, and efficiency.

Ready-to-use PLM business processes -- Industry-specific best practices enable a rapid return on investment in PLM 2.0 implementations.

IBM Asia Pacific Software Announcement IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 22 AP09-0201 A new instance command allows the user to create one or more instances of any existing subdivision feature, increasing productivity when designing products with repetitive pieces.

Introduces editable mesh segmentation and geometric tolerancing checker in CATIA Reverse Engineering (REV) -- Editable mesh segmentation allows the user to easily define a mesh segmentation for the surface reconstruction process. The segmentation object is obtained either automatically or manually. It is also editable and persistent. The new geometric tolerancing checker (GTC) command allows the user to easily, quickly, and automatically check if a digitized object (as manufactured) respects the geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) of a numerical mock-up (as designed).

Includes a new specific command for CATIA BIW Modeling (BIW) -- BIW allows the creation of 2D view sections, which are used to:

• Visualize geometry details along multiple section planes. • Display sections information on a plane independent from the sectioned geometry or the sectioning plane for usability purposes. • Enrich the raw section information with additional sketch editing, corner and thickness operations. • Review 3D BIW models in dedicated 2D sections.

CATIA Mechanical Increases productivity with automatic filleting available in part design and functional modeling -- The rounding and filleting of the sharp edges of a solid can be processed in one operation, increasing productivity drastically. Automated dress- up features and validation through dynamic sectioning make the product ready to be manufactured. Moreover, parting elements for rounded edges can now be taken into account on the whole part.

Adopts lifelike user experience in traditional workbenches -- 3D robot supports easy and direct modification of a feature's dimensions. Part design benefits from the positioned sketch creation command, providing a better understanding of the sketch location inside the part. The assembly design west compass uses color codes to ensure easy mechanism analysis, while the east compass provides updated status according to all sub-assembly levels.

Goes a step further to capture design intent with CATIA Live Shape (LSE) -- Free modeling benefits from persistent dimensional and geometric constraints. Keeping the creation of the geometry natural supports the capture of design intent. An influence sphere makes surface deformation easy. A minimap window allows the user to locate, reframe, pan and rotate the part in a flexible manner.

Advances welding design for industrial equipment, automotive, and aerospace -- Users can create welds and part preparation directly in 3D using a structured and flexible process. Advanced welding processes are fitted to the machinery and tooling industry. These include automatic generation of weld seam annotations and symbols and welding reports, which allow quick estimation of welding costs.

Enriches tooling design for the generic tooling and press and die industries -- Dedicated to generic- and user-defined components management, these enhancements provide tool and die makers with a rich toolset to support the end- to-end process. Catalogs of industry-standard components automate the tooling definition process.

Completes the connections set for assembly design -- Gear, rack, cable, roll, slide curve, and curvilinear distance connections allow definition of respective positions and movements of two parts. The assemble assembly function is a substitute representation for the assembly and is used to protect IP while modeling the welding process parts.

Supports dedicated user profiles that control access to catalogs, design tables, and knowledge rules -- The administrator guarantees the correct use

IBM Asia Pacific Software Announcement IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 23 AP09-0201 of catalogs, design tables, and knowledge rules by defining external resources in environments for each kind of user. This data management approach supports high product quality without user intervention.

Enhances flexibility to fit customer processes with drawing update -- The update status of drawings is accessible from the database and can be queried or recomputed, and a batch can create a list of out-of-date drawings in order to update them. Customers may use and interpret this information to decide when drawings must be updated according to their process.

Ensures rapid sharing of design specifications using CATIA Live FTA Review (LFT) with 3D XML player -- The 3D product definition including dimensioning and tolerancing and annotations is rapidly shared throughout the enterprise. This greater insight accelerates decision making. Moreover, the benefit of a full 3D product definition becomes accessible to every customer or supplier because the 3D XML player makes the 3D presentation of tolerances as affordable as 2D drawings.

CATIA Equipment Improves the user experience with CATIA Systems Logical 3D Architecture (TDS) -- TDS natively integrates a 3D network analysis tool in the east compass, making it easy to follow the progress of the 3D network design and the way it is connected to the 2D system. This tool identifies whether a pathway is connected to other items in the 3D architecture and if a signal is routed inside. For equipment centers, it enables users to know if it is connected to a pathway in the 3D architecture and if system equipment is allocated inside.

Based on the legend colors, users can get easy, quick, and complete visual feedback on their 3D networks. TDS enables lifelike modifications of pathway routing with the V6 robot. This provides significant usability improvement to pathway creation and modification and a more intuitive default display of the pathway points.

Increases realistic experience value with lifelike 3D wire harness shape that is based on material properties -- CATIA V6 adds a flexibility attribute to the bundle segment to display the right shape based on the calculated geometry. The lifelike experience value for the user is improved by taking into account materials applied to calculate the shape of bundle segments.

Integrates business rules adoption for harness design, harness documentation, and logical 3D architecture -- Business rules integration in CATIA V6 allows the user to add specific behaviors to electrical commands by implementing knowledge business rules. Customers can have their own proprietary design rules to apply for the wire harness design; in this context, the business rules feature makes it easy to customize the CATIA applicative behavior. With the business rule mechanism it is possible to use V6 knowledge base language to specify the way a given command (open to business rule customization) should behave in its own design environment.

Enhances the wire harness manufacturing documentation process with configurable harness flattening -- The user can define configurations in the harness design phase to configure components, and now this information is extracted and synchronized in the flattening data. Instead of multiple flattenings, the user now has only the main flattening data that contains all the different options. This allows the user to reuse a flattened harness without redoing all the layout management, saving preparation time, thus generating the manufacturing plan faster.

Introduces ID schema management for piping parts -- CATIA V6 allows the user to customize object naming based on company identification standards.

Automates the design process with the ability to select and place parts using compatibility rules -- CATIA V6 allows the user to select piping and tubing parts from a catalog using defined search criteria and compatibility rules. This improves quality, efficiency, and productivity by automating the design process using

IBM Asia Pacific Software Announcement IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 24 AP09-0201 design criteria that is derived from the design context and predefined compatibility standards.

Offers rule-driven part placement -- CATIA V6 makes it easy to place parts automatically between two connected parts. Selection and placement of new parts is accomplished using user-defined rules. The user can automate and standardize detail configurations after the design matures.

Allows adjustment of a piping network -- Users can now adjust a piping network to easily and effectively propagate required layout changes. It also allows "what if" scenarios for desired product configurations.

DELMIA V6

Robotics Enhancements to V6 robotics deliver a superior, innovative, and complete robot solution to the user community. V6R2010 extends the automotive BIW single V6 PLM platform solution from design engineering and manufacturing planning, validation, and detailing to robotics. This complete V6 robotics offering allows the enterprise to leverage PLM 2.0 to achieve unprecedented levels of collaboration, reduce time-to-market, improve quality, and reduce costs. These enhancements include:

• An exhaustive robot library that incorporates 700 robot models from all major robot manufacturers • OLP translators for all BIW-compliant controllers • Improved authoring and reporting mechanisms for delivering innovation to the spot welding community • Support for RRS for the most accurate robot path and cycle-time analysis capabilities available • Input/output capabilities to allow the user to perform advanced task/event synchronization between robots and other devices • Enhanced motion planning, with support for robot wrist interpolation

With these developments, the overall end-to-end automotive BIW solution is not only complete, but also surpasses any offering from the competition with a single platform from design engineering, through manufacturing planning and validation, to robotic offline programming.

Process and resource planning Enhancements to process and resource planning further extend the V6 automotive final assembly and simulation solution. Using V6 Manufacturing Planning solutions, users can now develop multiple resource layouts for any given manufacturing process plan, allowing them to evaluate key decision making criteria, such as plant capacity, throughput, efficiency, and associated costs. Having ready access to this information allows executives and managers to better make informed decisions as to which facility offers the best overall solution for manufacturing their products.

In V6R2010, DELMIA:

• Supports the ability to concurrently develop process plans (manufacturing/ assembly plans) and resource plans (implementation of process plans on the shop floor). • Enables multiple resource plans to be associated with a single process plan to help in the decision making process relative to where and how to manufacture based on efficiency and cost effectiveness.

V6R2010 offers unique data objects for the manufacturing process plan and the resource plan (or plant/resource layout). This allows the resource planner to have multiple resource plans associated with a single process plan in order to:

IBM Asia Pacific Software Announcement IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 25 AP09-0201 • Develop the process and resource plans concurrently, allowing for decreased overall planning time and increased collaborative capabilities • Evaluate how plans would be executed in multiple facilities given the unique set of resources available for each facility.

Comparisons can then be made with respect to capacity, costs, throughput, and efficiency to help support better decision making.

Program orders (SPOs) for legacy systems Programs are shipped under the 5629-ENV system program order (SPO). The SPO is required for all program shipments and future updates. Note: Effective with this release, the name of the 5629-ENV SPO is changed from "ENOVIA System Program Order" to "V6 PLM System Program Order."

Initial orders placed for a configuration/product without a corresponding order or MES for the 5629-ENV SPO will either fail order validation or will not generate a media shipment. Each customer number must have its own SPO.

New program feature numbers

The following no-charge program feature numbers are used with the 5629- ENV system program order. This information is used for shipment of media. The maximum quantity of each of the features that may be specified is one for each of the configurations/products.

IBM Asia Pacific Software Announcement IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 37 AP09-0201 Media feature number

Within the system program order, specify the media feature number for each of the workstation platforms that apply.

Feature Distribution Environment number medium

All platforms 3410 CD-ROM

Initial orders When ordering the first configuration/product, an order must also be placed for the 5629-ENV SPO. Both the configuration/product order and the SPO must be for the same CPU system type/system number and must have the same scheduled shipment date.

Subsequent orders The SPO must have a feature number for every configuration/product that is installed or on-order. Therefore, when a configuration that was not previously installed is ordered, the SPO must be updated.

To update an on-order system When a license for a new program is ordered for an on-order system, the 5629-ENV SPO must be updated to reflect the feature number of the licensed program desired. Also, for asset registration and billing purposes an order for the individual licensed configuration/product required.

To update an installed system When a license for a new configuration/product is ordered for an installed system, the 5629-ENV SPO must be updated to reflect the feature number of the licensed program desired.

Customization options Select the appropriate feature numbers to customize your order to specify the delivery options desired. These features can be specified on the initial or MES orders, as indicated.

For example, if publications are not desired for the initial order, specify feature number 3470 to ship media only. For future updates, specify feature number 3480 to ship media updates only. If, in the future, publication updates are required, order an MES to remove feature number 3480; then the publications will ship with the next release of the program.

Program services Program Services offer a method of reporting code-related problems for V6R2010 PLM licensed software products. In addition, support for these products includes responding to questions or issues arising from the use and/or administration of

IBM Asia Pacific Software Announcement IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 40 AP09-0201 V6R2010 PLM licensed software products when running in a supported, specified operating environment. Support includes:

• Assistance with program-specific, task-oriented questions about the installation, usage and operation of the products • Identification and resolution of code defects

The following items are not included:

• Problems arising from the operation of an eligible product outside the specified operating environment • Problems arising in altered portions of a product • Design and development of applications

This support is only available to customers who meet the entitlement requirements. These requirements are documented in the Attachment for IBM Product Lifecycle Management Version 6 Programs. A summary can be found at

http://www.ibm.com/support /docview.wss? rs=886&context=SW860&uid=swg27012980

Support is available electronically using the problem submission process at the PLM Technical Support Web site at

http://www.ibm.com/software/applications/plm/support/

Note: In order to use this facility, you must use an IBM ID which has associated to it the licensed IBM customer number under which the product was purchased. If you have not yet obtained an IBM ID, visit http://www.ibm.com/account/profile/

If you have not yet associated the licensed IBM customer number to your IBM ID, you will be prompted to do so when accessing the problem submission facility.

Not all options of the PLM technical support e-services are available in all countries.

To obtain support, a problem report is submitted via the PLM Technical Support Web site; problems can be submitted at any time. The submitter can view or update their problem reports via the web site and can request a response either via voice or e-mail. The response time for problem reports, regardless of the severity, will be within two business days. The initial response from IBM may result in resolving the problem. If not, it will form the basis for determining what additional actions are required to resolve the problem and/or provide a workaround. All communications must be in English.

During the support period individual fix packages will be provided for critical situations. A critical situation is defined as a Severity 1 defect that is blocking production and has no workable alternative to unblock production.

A correction may be provided when:

• The search for a work-around has been performed and was unsuccessful. • It is technically feasible. • An impact analysis has been performed by the customer support organization and has concluded that correction delivery presents no major risk of software destabilization.

IBM Asia Pacific Software Announcement IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 41 AP09-0201 These fix packages are called HotFixes and are a cumulative collection of fixes for each release; each HotFix package supersedes the previous one and may be installed on top of the released level or on top of a previous HotFix package. HotFixes are provided at the same time for all platforms currently supported. The latest HotFix package for each supported release will be available via download from the PLM Technical Support Web site at

http://www.ibm.com/software/applications/plm/support/

Fixes for all other code defects will be provided in a future release of the product.

Preventive service is delivered through the next release of the V6 products. The new release also includes corrections to problems, depending on the time of their submission and their severity.

IBM performance is predicated upon the following responsibilities being fulfilled by the customer:

• Perform initial problem determination to exclude problems caused by PLM Version 6 application customizations • Make available such systems, documentation, information and resource as may reasonably be requested by IBM in resolving the problem • Be responsible for implementing any preventive or corrective action which IBM recommends • Provide IBM with all relevant and available diagnostic information (including program or system information) pertaining to the problem • Be responsible for the actual content of any customer-provided data selection and implementing controls on its access and use, and the security of the stored data

The following additional services may be available via an enhanced support contract:

• Technical Support Advocate (TSA) • Fix validation in the customer's environment • Unique requirements for individual customers

Contact your PLM representative or authorized IBM Business Partner for more information. These options may not be available in all countries or for all products.

Support will be provided for V6R2010 products (R605) until March 17, 2011. After that date, support will no longer be available.

Should it be necessary for customers who are up-to-date on their Annual License Charge (ALC) payments to extend support beyond this date, a support extension will be available for an additional fee.

This extension is for one year only, with no possibility of renewal, with the same scope of support services except for defect support, which is limited to critical situations found in production running on an announced, supported environment and subject to the availability and maintainability of Operating Systems, databases, middleware and hardware (clients and servers) at the time the critical situation is reported. A critical situation is a Severity 1 defect that is blocking production and has no workable alternative to unblock production.

In order to ensure uninterrupted support, support extension requests should be submitted at least 6 months prior to the end of support date through the customer's marketing team or Business Partner.

This extension of support will not constitute an alternative to the customer's migration to the latest release or version of the installed products and therefore the customer is obligated to have a documented and viable migration plan to the latest release or version in order to obtain an extension of support.
