ENGLISH COMPETITION BASES
La versión 2018 de las Olimpiadas de inglés St. Patrick son un proyecto de la Fundación Don Bosco School y el St. Patrick Institute, quienes las promocionan, las organizan y desarrollan en su sede en asocio con Don Libro: 10ª Feria del Libro en Ocaña y la Librería Milanés.
Participan estudiantes de toda la ciudad y la región de Ocaña por competencias y categorías.
Sus objetivos son:
Reconocer la importancia del dominio del inglés en especial para el mejoramiento en el desempeño académico y personal exigiendo diversos talentos y habilidades.
Además,
• Valorar el inglés como herramienta de desarrollo y progreso. • Lograr el desarrollo de competencias en discursos escritos y orales: Reading, singing, vocabulary & spelling. • Avanzar en la capacidad de producción y compresión en inglés. • Impulsar el espíritu competitivo y de la camaradería entre los estudiantes de diferentes instituciones educativas.
Las English Competition se regirá por el siguiente reglamento general:
Artículo 1°. -Son participantes:
Podrán participar estudiantes regularmente matriculados de preescolar, básica o media de las instituciones educativas oficialmente reconocidas (estatales y privadas) de la región.
Artículo 2°. -Se establecen las siguientes categorías:
Preschoolar: prekinder, kinder transition
Starters: 1st, 2nd and 3rd
Elementary: 4th, 5th& 6th
Basic: 7th, 8th& 9th grades
Middle: 10th& 11th grades
Cada institución podrá inscribir en cada categoría y competencias tantos estudiantes como desee de acuerdo a su capacidad.
Artículo 3°. -se establecen las siguientes competencias:
Los participantes competirán de forma individual con pares de su misma categoría resolviendo unas pruebas que incluirán las habilidades denominadas competencias. Los modelos de los contenidos a evaluarse podrán ser consultados por las instituciones en la web: www.feriadellibroocana.org/concursos/olimpiadas.
Las competencias para la presente versión evaluaran las siguientes habilidades:
• Spelling • Singing contest • Reading • Vocabulary
Artículo 4°. -Se establecen las siguientes fases:
INTRAMURAL: A desarrollarse al interno de cada institución; se hacen las inscripciones respectivas y el proceso de participación para la siguiente fase. Los costos de esta etapa los establece la entidad y su valor por ella.
SEMIFINAL: Se desarrollará a nivel municipal donde se enfrentarán las instituciones inscritas y que sus estudiantes hayan alcanzado los niveles requeridos por los jueces.
FINAL: Quienes hayan superado la etapa anterior y hayan sido inscritos de manera correcta. Esta etapa se hará en el contexto de la Feria del Libro de Ocaña.
La ausencia en cualquiera de las etapas o rondas de cualquiera de los participantes se tomará como la renuncia de su participación en el concurso.
Artículo 5°. -Se establecen los siguientes costos:
El costo de las inscripciones para este año por participante en una competencia es de $ 12 000 (doce mil pesos). Por competencia adicional del mismo participante es de $ 8 000 por un máximo de dos competencias por año.
Un participante puede concursar hasta dos competencias de su categoría.
Artículo 6°. -Se otorgarán los siguientes premios:
• Medallas a los tres estudiantes ganadores por cada competencia en las respectivas categorías de la etapa final. • Mención al estudiante que hayan obtenido más medallas. • Diploma a la institución con el mayor puntaje por el número de medallas.
Artículo 7°. - Se otorgarán las siguientes medallas:
Medalla de oro al primer puesto; plata para el segundo; y bronce para el tercero en cada competencia y categoría.
Cada medalla de una equivalente a: Oro de 3 puntos, Plata a 2 puntos, Bronce a 1 punto.
Artículo 8°. -Calendario:
Las competencias se realizarán en sus respectivas fases de acuerdo al siguiente calendario:
• Inscripciones • Competencia institucional • Final • Premiación
Artículo 9°. -Se constituye un jurado.
La participación de cada uno de los competidores será evaluada por un jurado organizado por St. Patrick Institute, otros profesores de inglés de los colegios, artistas y angloparlantes de la ciudad.
Artículo 10°. -Puntajes por Competencia
La asignación de puntajes será reglamentada por cada competencia y categoría de acuerdo a la dinámica de competición.
En caso de empate se acudirá a un juego de muerte súbita, los competidores que hayan empatado hasta que fallen una o, en su defecto, hasta que el jurado determine superado el empate.
El jurado tomará las decisiones por unanimidad, en caso de duda sobre cualquier competencia tienen el derecho a repetición. Si no hubiese
conformidad entre todos los miembros del jurado las decisiones serán tomadas por mayoría simple. En caso de empate, y en última instancia será la organización junto con el jurado quienes tomarán las decisiones en cuestión.
Las decisiones del jurado, teniendo en cuenta la disposición anterior, son inapelables.
Artículo 11°. -Materiales disponibles:
A cada institución inscrita se le dará el material de apoyo modelo existente en el momento para prepararse a las competencias en las diversas fases y por los medios accesibles: www.feriadellibroocana.org/concursos/olimpiadas.
Artículo12°. - Para las grabaciones:
No se podrá grabar, ni total ni parcialmente, las St PatrickEnglish la prensa autorizada por la organización. La organización se reserva el derecho de confiscar y revisar cualquier soporte electrónico para asegurar este fin.
Artículo 13°. - La ceremonia de premiación:
Par la recepción de los diversos premios concedidos, se hará una ceremonia solemne a realizarse en Don Libro. A ella asistirán: un delegado por cada institución participante y cada ganador con un acompañante; debe reclamar las credenciales para ingresar.
Artículo 14°. -Las generalidades:
Todos los participantes ceden su imagen a favor de St Patrick English Competition con fines promocionales del concurso.
La organizaciónestá conformada por: St Patrick Institute, Don Bosco School y la Fundación don Bosco School, con domicilio en la calle 9 13-32, TEL- 7 569 46 22.
La participación en este concurso implica la aceptación de las presentes bases.
Las presentes bases y los respectivos logos están protegidos por los derechos de autor.
READING COMPETITION
1. Significado
La competencia consiste en realizar una lectura individual de un texto en inglés y en voz alta frente a un jurado con su debida comprensión lectora.
2. Categorías
La competencia se divide en las categorías definidas en St. Patrick English Competition Bases. De ellas, se excluye la preescolar.
3. Normas para competir
En cada ronda los participantes tendrán tiempo determinado por el jurado para leer en voz alta un texto elegido. Tendrán las oportunidades que se establezcan por ronda y será la mejor versión la que valorara el jurado. Si el texto es leído correctamente, el estudiante pasara a la siguiente ronda. El competidor dispondrá de un tiempo prudencial para preparar su participación. Una alarma indicará el inicio y finalización de los tiempos.
3.1. Primera ronda
El competidor elige la lectura de entre las existentes en el texto elegido por el jurado que deberá leer correctamente. Tendrán 3 (tres) minutos para preparar la lectura. Los participantes tendrán 3 (tres) minutos para leer en voz alta el texto seleccionado. Se insistirá en la entonación. Tendrán hasta dos oportunidades y la mejor versión será la que tenga en cuenta el jurado. Si el texto está bien leído el jugador pasará a la siguiente ronda. Pasan a la segunda ronda el porcentaje previsto por la organización.
3.2. Segunda ronda
El participante elige un texto de entre los existentes en el libro elegido por el juradoy de mayor complejidad de la anterior ronda. Tiene 3 (tres) minutos de preparación, cuando se demore el competidor que lo precede. Al error será eliminado, pues solo tendrá 3 (tres) minutos para leer correctamente el texto. Pasan a la siguiente ronda el porcentaje previsto por la organización entre los más altos puntajes.
3.3. Tercera ronda
El jurado elige el texto del libro seleccionado. Tiene, el competidor, 3 (tres) minutos de preparación. El competidor que consiga leer correctamente dentro de los 3 (tres) minutos el documento, será seleccionado. Los tres mayores puntajes serán los ganadores de las respectivas medallas.
En caso de empate, el jurado seleccionará un nuevo libro sobre el cuál los competidores comprometidos en el empate deberán definir sus puestos.
4. Sobre los textos
Los libros serán elegidos por el St. Patrick Institute.
No se revelarán los textos hasta el inicio de cada una de las fases en auditorio público, excepto en actos promocionales determinados. Los textos develados nunca supondrán más de un 30% de los textos disponibles para leer en cualquiera de las fases.
5. Ayudas
El competidor dispone de una ayuda a usar así:
• Monolingual dictionary: podrá consultar la versión inglesa hasta dos veces por lectura.
• Bilingual dictionary: podrá consultar la versión bilingüe hasta una vez por lectura.
6. Criterios
Las siguientes categorías permiten caracterizar la calidad de la lectura oral predominante:
Starter:
En la lectura silábica, el niño lee las palabras silaba a silaba, no respetando las palabras como unidades.
Elementary:
Lectura palabra a palabra, en este tipo de lectura el niño lee oraciones de un texto, palabra por palabra, sin respetar las unidades de sentido.
Basic:
En la lectura por unidades cortas, el jugador ya une algunas palabras formando pequeñas unidades.
Middle: En la lectura fluida del competidor, lee en forma continua. Una buena lectura fluida implica dar una inflexión de voz adecuada al contenido del texto, respetando las unidades de sentido y la puntuación.
La definición de criterios de logro de evaluación de la velocidad de lectura oral se refiere a establecer el número de palabras por minuto que se espera que el estudiante sea capaz de leer la categoría correspondiente.
7. Criterios de evaluación
Se definen de los siguientes criterios de evaluación:
Volumen: este criterio tiene que ver con la intensidad que el sujeto le imprime a su voz durante toda la lectura. Este aspecto se evalúa positivamente cuando la intensidad de la voz no es exagerada (mucho volumen) ni tan escasa (bajo volumen) que sea apenas audible en el espacio en que se realiza la lectura. Este criterio debe ser aplicado de acuerdo con las características físicas del lugar. Se estima que un volumen adecuado debe ser aquel en que la voz pueda ser escuchada hasta en la última fila de la sala o auditorio. Cuando la lectura se hace en condiciones de laboratorio puede considerarse como criterio que el sujeto sea capaz de utilizar adecuadamente el micrófono.
Articulación: este criterio tiene que ver con el grado de tensión en la pronunciación de los sonidos. Los movimientos articulatorios y la abertura bucal deben ser suficientemente controlados para que se escuchen con nitidez todos los sonidos. Se
puede evaluar como inadecuada una articulación con una abertura bucal muy pequeña o una articulación demasiado exagerada.
Fluidez: Este criterio tiene que ver con la velocidad de la lectura: número de unidades (palabras) por unidad tiempo (segundos). Como para el inglés no existen registros estandarizados para determinar si se está frente a una lectura demasiado rápida o lenta, se sugiere evaluar apoyándose en la intuición del oyente-juez.
Ritmo: sucesión de contrastes en la lectura que le otorgan mayor intención comunicativa y naturalidad. Estos contrastes pueden ser destacados con el manejo de la entonación, el uso del énfasis, la duración de las unidades (sílabas y palabras) y la duración y la ubicación adecuadas de las pausas.

SINGING SONG COMPETITION
SINGING SONG COMPETITION, La competencia consiste en la participación de los estudiantes quienes compiten entre sí; destacando la correcta interpretación de canciones en y de origen inglés.
Los participantes pueden ser: Solistas, Duos y Grupos máximo de cinco integrantes
ORGANIZADORES:
San Patricio y Don Bosco School
Los competidores pasan a las rondas ante el jurado donde interpretarán su canción elegida. Cada participante dispone de 5 minutos previos para preparar el espacio, los equipos e instrumentos pertinentes a su intervención. Los jurados tendrán en cuenta en cada categoría los criterios establecidos:
PRIMERA RONDA El jurado tendrá en cuenta el promedio de los criterios establecidos. SEGUNDA RONDA El jurado tendrá en cuenta la calidad artística de entre los criterios establecidos. TERCERA RONDA El jurado tendrá en cuenta el manejo del inglés de entre los criterios establecidos.
DETALLES A TENER EN CUENTA ➢ Las canciones pueden ser seleccionadas e inscritas por cada uno de los participantes según su categoría y pueden concursar con 2 canciones. ➢ Cada participante debe traer su pista o grupo de acompañamiento musical. ➢ La canción no debe durar mas de 5 minutos.
➢ De los concursantes ganadores, el jurado elegirá quienes deban interpretar su canción en la entrega de premios. ➢ La organización dispone de una página web para consultar un listado de canciones con el fin de dar una idea de la dificultad en cada categoría. ➢ Los organizadores dispondrán del escenario y la planta para reproducir la pista en CD o USB formato MP3.

SPELLING BEE COMPETITION
SPELLING BEE COMPETITION, es el concurso mediante el cual los estudiantes compiten entre sí, por el correcto deletreo de palabras en inglés.
ORGANIZADORES:
San Patricio y Don Bosco School
AYUDAS: Cada competidor dispone de ayudas que podrá utilizar en todas las rondas.
Hear the word: El jurado pronuncia la palabra.
Definition: El jurado define la palabra.
Sentence: El jurado usa la palabra en una oración.
Check it: El jurado ubica en un recuadro de letras que ha sido bien.
° Primera ronda: El jurado selecciona un tema y el estudiante elige una palabra por extracción que deberá deletrear correctamente. Los
participantes tendrán 60 segundos para deletrear oralmente la palabra elegida. Podrán deletrear la palabra dos veces y la mejor versión será valorada por el jurado.
Si la palabra está bien deletreada, el estudiante pasará a la siguiente ronda. Puede usar las ayudas disponibles. Pasan a la segunda ronda el porcentaje previsto por la organización.
° SEGUNDA RONDA: El participante elige el tema y el jurado selecciona una palabra al azar. Puede usar las ayudas disponibles. Al error será eliminado pues solo tendrá 45 segundos para deletrear la palabra. Pasan a la siguiente ronda el porcentaje previsto por la organización.
° TERCERA RONDA: El jurado elige el tema y cierto número de palabras. El participante deberá deletrear correctamente el mayor número de palabras dentro de 30 segundos. Serán seleccionado los tres primeros puestos ganadores de las respectivas medallas.

Según lo establecido en English Competition Bases.
Los concursantes deben inscribirse y anotar el tema escogido para la primera ronda.
PRIMERA RONDA
El concursante elige el tema de su predilección.
En un tiempo de tres (3) minutos el concursante debe escribir correctamente el mayor número de palabras relacionas con el tema que escogió. Las palabras escritas de manera incorrecta o no relacionadas con el tema propuesto, serán eliminadas. Gana la ronda de los competidores que hayan escrito la mayor cantidad de palabras.
Pasaran a segunda ronda el porcentaje previsto por la organización.
Las palabras dudosas serán consultadas en el Cambridge Dictionary, si allí aparece, serán aceptadas por el jurado.
SEGUNDA RONDA
El jurado propone un tema y el participante hará el listado de palabras relacionadas con dicho tema.
Dispone para su preparación de dos (2) minutos. A la señal todos los competidores escribirán todas las palabras relacionadas con el tema.
En un tiempo de tres (3) minutos otra señal indicara que ya no puede continuar escribiendo. Los competidores con el mayor número de palabras serán los ganadores
Pasan a la siguiente ronda el porcentaje previsto por la organización.
Las palabras dudosas serán consultadas en el Cambridge Dictionary, si allí aparece, serán aceptadas por el jurado.
TERCERA RONDA
El jurado elige un nuevo tema para los competidores.
A la señal todos los competidores escribirán las palabras relacionada con el tema, a los dos (2) minutos otra señal indicara que ya no puede continuar escribiendo.
El concursante que consiga escribir correctamente el mayor número de palabras se le considerara el ganador.
En caso de empate, solamente los implicados concursaran para una nueva ronda hasta llegar a definir los tres mejores puestos.
Los tres primeros puestos serán los ganadores de las respectivas medallas.
