OAKLAND NOTES The Oakland Athletics have lost four in a row and six of their last seven after winning 15 of their previous 23 games…have been held to seven hits over their past three games, the fewest over a three-game span in Oakland history…since at least 1920, have never been held to three hits or fewer in three consecutive games…have a 30-41 record against teams that were at or above .500 when playing them and are 27-19 against teams that were below .500…snapped their season-high-tying seven-game homerless streak…are 1-4 against Toronto this year and have lost 16 of 20 games against the Blue Jays, including seven of nine in Oakland…are 0-1 on this seven-game homestand against Toronto (0-1) and Tampa Bay (four games). Brett Anderson is 1-3 with a 3.55 ERA (10 er in 25.1 ip) in four starts since returning from the disabled list…allowed a home run to Jose Bautista in the fourth inning, his first in 53.0 innings this season…it was the most innings without allowing a home run in the Major Leagues this season…the home run also snapped a nine-start streak of not allowing a home run, which was the longest such streak by an Athletic over the last three years…has walked two batters or fewer in each of his 10 starts and has walked one batter or fewer eight times. Boof Bonser made the 100th appearance of his Major League career. Daric Barton (0 for 3) is on a 0 for 12 streak and is 12 for 59 (.203) over his last 17 games after going 11 for 31 (.355) over his first eight games after the All-Star Break. Coco Crisp (0 for 4) had his season-high eight-game hitting streak snapped and is now batting .371 (13 for 35) over his last nine games. Mark Ellis (0 for 3) committed a fielding error in the fifth inning…it was his second error in 72 games at second base this season. Kevin Kouzmanoff (0 for 3) is batting .140 (7 for 50) in August after combining for a .303 batting average in June and July. Kurt Suzuki (0 for 3) is 10 for 59 (.169) over his last 16 games after going 17 for 42 (.405) over his previous 11 games…is a .176 (16 for 91) career hitter against Toronto, his lowest average against any American League team. Shaun Marcum threw the first complete game of his career…carried a no-hitter into the seventh before Conor Jackson led off the inning with a home run…has allowed three runs or less in 17 of his 23 starts this season…is 7-3 with a 3.97 ERA (35 er in 79.1 ip) in 13 road starts this season…is 3-1 with a 2.92 ERA (12 er in 37.0 ip) in six career starts against the A’s. Jose Bautista (1 for 3) has homered 11 times over his last 20 games…is batting .318 (35 for 110) with 13 home runs in 29 games since the All-Star Break. Yunel Escobar (1 for 3) is batting .379 (11 for 29) over his last eight games.
