he Big Sky Conference enters its 48th year of athletic competition in 2010-11. he Big Sky Conference has a rich history in football dating back 47 years. Since the Big Sky began playing Football Championship Subdivision football in 1978, the league has won five national titles - Boise State (1980), Idaho State (1981), Montana State (1984) and Montana (1995 & 2001). Big Sky teamsT have made 12 total appearances in the Division I Football Cham- pionship, most recently in December of 2009 when Montana lost to Villanova. In 124 total FCS playoff games, the Big Sky has a record of 67-57, with seven wins and seven losses coming against fellow league teams. Entering the 2010 season, the Big Sky has had at least two teams in the FCS playoffs in 24 of the past 26 years. The Big Sky has had three teams in the playoffs on five occasions - 1988, 1990, 1994, 2003 and UM’S WON THE 2007 BUCK 2009. At the end of each season The Sports Network also awards the Eddie Robinson Award to the nation’s top FCS head coach. The Robinson Award was established in 1987 and two Big Sky head coaches have won the award - Mon- tana head coach Joe Glenn in 2000 and Nevada head coach Chris Ault in 1991.
