Team Headquarters +82+234642153 [email protected] ID: 35502 Geneva show car, ioniq, embodies ‘New Thinking. New Possibilities.’ Concept model is an electric sports hatchback with rangeextender Demonstrates next evolution of Hyundai’s fluidic sculpture design language Hyundai has unveiled its latest European concept car, named ioniq, at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, showcasing new technology and design which present an impression of the company’s future thinking. The 4,4 meters long ioniq is an electric sports hatchback with a rangeextending petrol engine. Intended to convey the latest thinking from Hyundai’s designers and engineers, the ioniq evolves the company’s fluidic sculpture form language and represents bold ‘New Possibilities’ with its futuristic powertrain. Exterior design: inspiration and evolution The ioniq concept car, designed and developed at Hyundai’s European R&D centre in Germany, is an evolution of the company’s signature design language, fluidic sculpture. Hyundai designers chose dynamic proportions to create ioniq’s aesthetic and functional body shape. Its design combines gentle feature lines and muscular surface treatment, conveying premium and athletic qualities evident in both the exterior and interior of the car. Thomas Bürkle, Chief Designer at the Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre, commented, “Two arched curves are the key theme behind ioniq, creating a strong and playful contrast between sharp character lines and soft but muscular features. The profile lines of the front fender run from front to back, emphasising ioniq’s coupé appearance, while offering maximum visibility to occupants.” Further design elements, such as the ‘penthouse roof’ and LED headlights, emphasise the advanced technology encased within i oniq. The roof is a unique design solution that ensures great space for rear passengers and contributes to the overall dynamic appearance. The car’s doors open up to the side: innovative, weightoptimized door and seat kinematics make entering the car’s front and rear seats a simple manoeuvre. The headlights emphasise the advanced technology of ioniq. A uniquelyshaped polished aluminium frame houses the daytime running light and forms a unique signature light element. Futuristic interior and complete connectivity Fittingly for a sporty hatchback, the cabin layout is driveroriented, with the dashboard and centreconsole geometry based around the driver. The userinterface components reflect contemporary and future consumer electronics technology such as movement control mounted on the steering wheel, floating instrument cluster with multilayered projection, and a large background display for navigation, entertainment and other information. The rear cabin area has been designed as a ‘cosy lounge area’ to ensure maximum occupant comfort, creating a positive contrast to the sportsorientated front area. Use of luxurious interior materials, as well as futuristic interface components, further expresses the evolution of fluidic sculpture within the car. Electric vehicle with extended range powertrain The ioniq is powered by an innovative 1,0litre, 3cylinder petrol engine generating a maximum of 45 kW (61 ps). This unit is mated to an 80 kW (109 ps) lithiumion electric motor which is powered by a 55 kW generator, via a single ratio gearbox. In electriconly mode, ioniq can travel 120 km (74 miles) and up to 700 km (435 miles) with the assistance on the petrol engine, emitting only 45 g/km of CO2emissions. The concept can reach a top speed of 145 km/h. The survey, conducted during 2014, is part of a long-term study of the rapid global expansion of multinational enterprises (MNEs) from emerging markets.1 The research for this report was conducted in 2014 and covers the period from 2011 to 2013.2 Highlights In 2013, the top 20 Korean multinationals, ranked by their foreign assets (See Table 1), jointly held US$68.9 billion assets abroad.3 Most firms were subsidiaries of Korea’s eight leading business groups (or chaebols), including Samsung, POSCO, LG, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai-Kia Motors, SK, Lotte, and Hyosung Group. Five out of the 20 multinationals were also included in UNCTAD’s “Top 100 non-financial TNCs from developing and transition economies” in 2012.4 The average age of the top 20 firms is about 47 years, which is two times the average age of Korea’s top 1,000 firms (ranked in terms of total assets). There is a high concentration by the top players in the list in terms of foreign assets. Among the top 20 companies, Samsung Electronics, POSCO, and Hyundai Motor Company ranked in the top three in that order. There was a significant difference between first and second place, with the foreign assets of Samsung Electronics more than doubling that of POSCO.

  • Class Action Lawsuit Alleges
Hyundai Genesis SUV Shudders and ‘Uncontrollably Veers,’ Class Action Lawsuit Alleges June 10, 2021 Owners of the Hyundai Genesis SUV thought they were buying “true luxury,” but instead got a vehicle that uncontrollably veers off the road while driving at moderate speeds, a new nationwide class action lawsuit alleges. Plaintiff Dr. Barbara Feinstein filed the class action lawsuit against Hyundai Motor Company, Hyundai Motor America, and Genesis Motor America LLC Wednesday in a Maryland federal court, alleging violations of Maryland and federal laws. She says the trio are the designers, manufactures, distributors, sellers and promoters of Genesis automobiles – Hyundai/Genesis’ proclaimed, “luxury line of automobiles.” In 2021, Hyundai/Genesis introduced its first ever SUV, the Genesis GV-80, which is the Class Vehicle, and was marketed as being “equipped with high-performance capabilities that make for fun, powerful and truly dynamic driving on or off road.” Unfortunately, consumers have not experienced the high-performance capabilities that Hyundai/Genesis promised, Feinstein alleges. “Consumers, such as Plaintiff, who purchased or leased a Hyundai/Genesis GV-80 SUV, have instead experienced dangerous instability, shuddering, vibrations and uncontrolled veering of their SUVs, while driving at moderate speeds.” Feinstein alleges Hyundai/Genesis knew of the defects in the SUVs, and in June 2020 confirmed that it had to halt distribution of the diesel Genesis GV-80 SUV due to “vibration issues” of the engine. “Despite this knowledge, however,
