Cup Opportunity Explanatory Notes This is a live and dynamic list of secured events and future hosting opportunities. The list covers significant itinerant international events (rather than annual international events based in the UK) which have been discussed with UK Sport as events that are of interest to host. All event hosting opportunities identified here remain subject to further discussions between partners, potentially including detailed feasibility work. It is therefore possible, and indeed likely, that some of the events on this list will not progress to bid stage. This information is gathered, updated, and shared across the UK’s event hosting partners every 6-12 months by UK Sport. The purpose of sharing the information is to enable high-quality and informed strategic hosting discussions to take place between sports and cities. These multi-tiered partnerships are fundamental to the UK’s success as a place to host incredible international sporting events. Specific target years have not been listed for the future hosting opportunities, although many sports have a view on the year(s) that they would be most likely to pursue. A discussion is therefore required between cities and sports regarding the timing of such future opportunities. The events on this list span the next 10 years. With regards to the ‘mega’ events, these are itinerant event properties which are seen as the pinnacle of their sport at World level and which have significant staging costs, attract more than 100,000 live spectators, entail considerable delivery complexity and require extensive public funding and guarantee commitments. UK Sport has worked in partnership with DCMS and the lead events agencies in the home nations to agree a UK Mega Events Policy Framework. This helps to reduce the likelihood of internal bidding conflict, enhance the potential to collaborate, and optimise the sequencing of mega events across the UK for maximum impact. It is likely that some events on this list (primarily World Series events) will be secured for the UK on a fixed-term multi-year basis. In these cases, the event has only been listed once here. A discussion will be required with sports to understand the timeframes for such series. In addition to the international hosting targets listed, NGBS may also have a list of National events which they wish to discuss. Future hosting strategies are constantly being reviewed by partners here in the UK, and as a result some sports/disciplines/events that might be expected to appear on this list may be missing as they complete those reviews. Whilst many events on this list will be eligible to be considered for events funding by UK Sport, some will not. UK Sport investment and support is guided by its Events Investment Principles and by the Gold Event Framework. Further discussion may be required with UK Sport to understand potential to support specific events. Page | 3 .

To update Cabinet on the major events programme in 2021 and specifically seek approval to begin the process to bid for the European Championships in 2026. Background 2. In order to deliver the outcomes of Gateshead’s Thrive policy, the Council is working closely with partners such as the Great Run Company to attract and secure major sporting and cultural events. 3. Gateshead has a proven track record of securing and successfully hosting major sporting events. Gateshead International Stadium has played host to a number of key international Athletics events such as the British Grand Prix (2003-2010) and is the only venue to have held the European Athletics Team Championships three times (1989, 2000, and most recently in 2015). 4. The Council continues to develop its future plans for major events and is working with partners such as the Great Run Company to bring International Athletics back to Gateshead. 5. High profile sporting events play a major part in delivering the outcomes associated with Council priorities, such as ‘Making Gateshead a place where everyone thrives’. This paper observed 38 games and sixteen variables of standard efficiency during the FIBA EuroBasket Women 2019. Two regression models were obtained, a set of relative percentage and relative rating variables, which are used in the NBA league, where the dependent variable was the number of points scored. The obtained results show that in the first model, the difference between winning and losing teams was made by three variables: true shooting percentage, turnover percentage of inefficiency and efficiency percentage of defensive rebounds, which explain 97.3%, while for the second model, the distinguishing variables was offensive efficiency, explaining for 96.1% of the observed phenomenon. There is a continuity of the obtained results with the previous championship, played in 2017. Of all the technical elements of basketball, it is still the shots made, assists and defensive rebounds that have the most significant impact on the final score in European women’s basketball.

COMPETITIONS 1.1 TYPES According to article 7.1 of the Statutes, the European Handball Federation (EHF) organizes Men's and Women's European Championships as well as for the younger age categories (YAC) Men's 18, 20, Women's 17, 19 (English: ECh, German: EM, French: ChE). In addition to the above-mentioned competitions the EHF organizes the Beach Handball European Championships (Beach ECh) where specific regulations mainly apply. 1.2 RHYTHM AND DATES All EChs take place in a 2-year rhythm. Ø For men and women in even years Ø For men's 18 and 20 in even years (M18, M20) Ø For women's 17 and 19 in odd years (W17, W19) 1.3 PRIZES 1.3.1 Winners (places 1-3) The first three teams will receive, for up to 16 players and for the remaining number of officials (a total of 24 altogether), the following medals and documents: 1st place and European Champion gold 2nd place silver 3rd place bronze Furthermore the 4th ranked team will receive prizes (trophy, etc.). 1.3.2 Participants All other teams as well as the appointed EHF officials and the members of the Organizing Committee shall receive commemorative medals. 1.3.3 EHF General Secretariat One complete set of medals and diplomas shall be provided to the EHF General Secretariat. 2. He succeeds Jim Courier to become the 41 st captain in the team’s 120-year history and will make his debut at the newly transformed Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Finals November 18-24 in Madrid, Spain. “Ever since I started playing professionally and started understanding what the Davis Cup was and how special it was, even as a player, I wanted to be the Davis Cup Captain,” Fish said. “I just thought that position was so special – leading the guys and leading the team, building relationships and the team aspect around it. I’m a team-sport athlete stuck in an individual sport, and I love the team aspect of Davis Cup. To even be considered, let alone named the Captain, is incredibly humbling.” In this new era of Davis Cup, the role of Captain will be expanded, with the position working more closely with USTA Player Development throughout the year, as well as traveling to multiple tournaments and camps to support American players, serving as a mentor for American pros and juniors. Origin and development of the game Ball games were popular in ancient Rome and Greece under the name of a spherical "ball game". In the 11 th and 12 th centuries, the games of "Jacko del Palone" and "Jaco de la Corda" were mentioned, which resembled modern tennis (Todorov 2010; Mashka, Shaffarjik 1989). In the 14 th century, outdoor and indoor courts started to be built in France, where the game of "court – tennis" was played, which was later renamed "palm game", that, dependent on being played inside or outside, was called "short tennis" and " long tennis" (Penchev 1989). Antonio Scaino da Salò’s book "Treatise on the game of the ball" (1555) describes the game instruments - a racquet and a ball - a tight ball of wool, wrapped in leather. It was struck with the palm of the hand, wrapped in a leather belt and a wooden case. A glove was used as well to protect against pain and traumas (Mashka, Shaffarjik 1989). The "court - tennis" game became popular predominantly amongst the nobles in Europe under the name of "Jeu de paume" – palm game, played both indoors and outdoors. “Mirabo” hall, part of the famous Versailles Palace that was transformed at that time by the Sun King - Louis XIV into a main residence of the French kings, exists to this day and had served for that purpose.
