The current owners moved in a few years later and have completely transformed it to the splendid house it is now. Sitting in mature grounds, it is approached down a long gravel drive to a parking area. The hall has Travertine tiled fl oors, an elegant staircase, and glazed or panelled doors off to the main reception rooms. The Drawing room has full wall of windows with sliding doors, panelling, plate rail,picture lights and a Minster stone fi replace with inset Jotul log burner. The Dining room, with its elegant coving and ceiling roses, has stunning views, whilst the Sitting room has French windows to the terrace and another inset log-burner. Double glazed doors open to the Breakfast room with French windows to the garden terrace, whilst the Kitchen has a full range of fi tted units around a Britannia oven and a continuation of the Travertine fl oor. An oak and glazed Garden room connects through to the Utility room with range of work surfaces, a shower room/ cloakroom and another reception room. From the hall, the stairs lead up to an imposing galleried landing with doors off to the main bedrooms, the master bedroom having a pair of dressing rooms, a balcony and a sumptuous en-suite bathroom with tiled walls. Two of the fi ve remaining bedrooms are en-suite and there is a generous family bathroom. Gardens and Grounds The gardens and grounds run mainly to the south of the house and comprise of a wide expanse of grass dotted with rockeries, herbaceous beds, shrubs, mature and novice trees. These include some splendid Oak and Sycamore, with the drive fl anked by Beech hedges and Cherry. There is a full size tennis court. A Laurel hedge with some brick walls form the eastern boundary whilst closer to the house is a large terrace with richly planted rockeries, a Greenhouse/Potting Shed, and large Implement Shed with roller door. To the far side of the house further is terracing with balustrading, rockeries, pools, lawns and a lawn open out to the views beyond. The Garage Block and outside offi ce with Clock Tower are just beyond, whilst woodland runs away to the boundary. Situation Ridge Lea Park is situated amidst some of Britain’s fi nest countryside, a few miles south west of Monmouth. East Monmouthshire remains one of the last great secrets as, despite its beautiful landscape, it is highly convenient for the local towns, the motorway network and the major centres. The historic town of Monmouth is within 10 minutes’ drive and has good shops including a Marks & Spencer and Waitrose, as well as the famous Haberdashers schools for both boys and girls. The A40/A449 provides fast access to the national motorway network and the commercial centres of South Wales, Bristol and /Birmingham. London is usually within 2¼ hours drive. There are intercity rail services from Newport and Bristol Parkway. Recreational opportunities abound and include golf courses at The Hendre (Rolls of Monmouth), Chepstow (St Pierre and Newport (Celtic Manor), the Rivers Wye and Monnow fl ow nearby; the Forest of Dean is a short drive; and there are glorious walks and rides through the surrounding countryside.
