No, it's not Narendra Modi | Latest News & Updates at Daily News & Analysis Manit Balmiki DNA Contrary to popular perception, Shashi Tharoor and Narendra Modi are not the most active politicians on Twitter. Dhrumil Patel of the BJP and Kavita Krishnan of CPI-(ML) have been most active on the microblogging site between July 16 and October 16 this year, according to a study by Precog. Patel, convener of the BJP’s IT cell in Sabarkantha district, Gujarat, tweeted 4,443 times to emerge at the top whereas Krishnan was at the third spot with 1,772 tweets. The BJP’s Delhi unit was second with 2,269 tweets. Tharoor was fifth, http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report-which-neta-tweets-the-most-no-its-not-narendra-modi-1907871[5/12/2014 4:16:50 PM] Which neta tweets the most? No, it's not Narendra Modi | Latest News & Updates at Daily News & Analysis tweeting 1,469 times in three months. Precog, a research group in the government-run Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi, has been studying the Twitter accounts of India’s 100 prominent politicians apart from those of parties and their state units. Experts said tracking such accounts can help understand the views of online social media (OSM) users about politicians. Also, it shows how well the politicians stay connected with others. “Social media may not be able to swing voters. However, it does impact urban voters to some extent. We have seen tweets by politicians being retweeted over 1,000 times and Facebook posts shared more than 4,000 times. We strongly believe that social media will have a greater influence on future elections,” said Ponnurangam Kumaraguru, assistant professor at IIT-Delhi. With the Delhi assembly elections slated for December, parties are increasing their presence online. While the BJP’s Delhi unit was in second place, accounts of the Aam Aadmi Party and the Trinamool Congress also figure in the top 10. The Precog study also revealed that BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is the only politician to have 20 Twitter accounts in different languages. Some of the active politicians on Twitter are Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Milind Deora, Digvijay Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, Baijayant Jay Panda, Sushil Kumar Modi and Smriti Z Irani. Nitin Gadkari has over 22,000 followers, but has tweeted only once since creating a profile in 2009. Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has tweeted nine times, with his last tweet posted in July 2012. He has nearly 21,000 followers. #Shashi Tharoor #Narendra Modi #Twitter #Tweets #Elections #Online Jump to comments We Recommend Sponsored Content by Taboola http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report-which-neta-tweets-the-most-no-its-not-narendra-modi-1907871[5/12/2014 4:16:50 PM] Which neta tweets the most? Special Session addressed by Shri Sushil Kumar Modi, Chairman, Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers on Implementation of Goods and Services Tax, Government of India and Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Government of Bihar on ‘GST : Some Imperatives and The Visible Roadmap’: The Chamber organised a Special Session addressed by Shri Sushil Kumar Modi, Chairman, Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers on Implementation of Goods and Services Tax, Government of India and Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Government of Bihar on ‘GST : Some Imperatives and The Visible Roadmap’ on 27 th April, 2013 at 11.15 a.m. at The Park Hotel, Kolkata. Welcoming Shri Modi , Shri Sajjan Bhajanka, Senior Vice-President of the Chamber observed that GST is one of the most important forward looking steps towards fiscal reforms and harmonisation of taxes levied in India. GST was first conceived in 2004 and proposed in the Union Budget – 2006, Shri Bhajanka stated. Various reasons, such as the clash of interest of the Centre and States, have so far delayed its implementation. However, under the stewardship of Shri Modi many of the frictions in the path of implementation of GST has been cleared out. Shri Bhajanka emphasised that implementation of GST would help in creating a single Indian common market for all goods and services. This, in turn, would help in bringing supply chain efficiencies which will lead to higher growth of GDP on a sustainable basis. Shri Bhajanka stated that there are two fundamental issues concerning GST. One of them being the concept of uniformity in GST, which is to be shared between the Centre and States.

  • What Does the Haryana Election Results Mean for the BJP and the Congress?
What does the Haryana Election results mean for the BJP and the Congress? This is a Suno India Production and you are listening to The Suno India Show. Padma Priya(Host)- On Thursday, Haryana ended with a hung assembly with the ruling party BJP emerging with 40 seats but still six short of the halfway mark needed to form the next government. The split verdict triggered hectic political activity with two independents, the infamous Gopal Kanda and Ranjeet Singh boarding flights to Delhi for a meeting with the BJP leadership. By Friday afternoon, things had progressed quite a bit with the independents pledging their support to BJP thereby paving way for Khattar-led BJP party to stake claim to form the government again. The Congress won 31 seats, the Jannayak Janata Party won 10 seats in its maiden elections and the Indian National Lok Dal and Haryana Lokhit party one each. Aam Aadmi Party which contested 46 seats was completely decimated. Eight ministers of the state cabinet lost the elections and only 2 out of 10 ministers who were fielded by the BJP will be returning to the state assembly. The Suno India Show reached out to Ajoy Ashirwad, Deputy Editor of The Wire who has extensive political reporting experience to understand more what the Haryana results mean for the BJP and for the future of Congress party led by Bhupinder Hooda in Haryana. Hi I am Padma Priya, your host for this episode of The Suno India Show and you are listening to this on the one and only podcast platform for issues that matter Suno India.
