Culture Night returns across Limerick county and city bringing with it the energy, creativity and civic pride of all who participate and attend. As a national annual event Culture night has become an evening when we leave behind our desks, televisions and couches to come together to celebrate our culture in and with our communities, wherever they may be. In Limerick our culture is as multiple and diverse as its citizens and landscape. And culture night visitors can experience this by visiting some of the 80 events outlined in this CULTURE NIGHT programme. Be it some of our first class contemporary facilities such as Limerick Gallery of Art, the new Limerick Museum, the LIMERICK 2017 Hunt Museum, Dance Limerick, Irish Aerial Creation Centre and the Belltable, or an education facility such as Limerick School of FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 22ND Art and Design, or Mary Immaculate College. Finding inspiration from the words ‘together’ and ‘belonging’, artists from various disciplines are invited to collaborate and tell their stories through movement, sound and words within the magical setting of the Dance Limerick church. Free taster classes in hip-hop, contemporary and Latin- American dance will be held throughout the evening in the dance studio Fresh Film Festival will be screening films upstairs in the Church space. CULTURE NIGHT EVENTS: 5pm-10pm Danny Osborne and Frieda Meaney: Landmarks and Lifeforms An exhibition by two artists who live and work on the Beara Peninsula. Geology, biology, marine science and zoology is presented in this exhibition through painting, print, video installation and sculpture, combining scientific with artistic interpretations of the natural world. 5pm-10pm Elizabeth Magill: HEADLAND Elizabeth Magill came to the attention of the art world in the early 90s. This exhibition focuses on a family living on a significant land holding in the Midwest region of Ireland and their adventures both in Europe and further a field.
