See TGA Championship COVID-19 Guidelines for complete details. FORMAT/QUALIFYING PLACES: 18 Holes of individual stroke play qualifying. Allocation of places will be established after the close of entries. Successful qualifiers will be advancing to the 41st U.S. Senior Open Championship to be played July 8-11, 2021 at Omaha CC in Omaha, Nebraska. PRACTICE ROUND AVAILABILITY: Players may contact the golf shop directly after the close of entries (May 12, 2021 – 5:00 pm EDT) at (817) 834-6261 to schedule a practice round. Practice round green fee is $20.00+tax. Additional $25.00+tax cart fee for players wishing to ride. STARTING TIMES: Starting times and pairings will be released on Tuesday, May 25th. Starting times, pairings and complete results can be found by visiting the Texas Golf Association website at www.txga.org. PRACTICE FACILITIES: All practice facilities will open an hour before play begins. CADDIES: Caddies are permitted, but must be provided by the player. Caddies are required to fully comply with all club policies at all times. GOLF SHOP/LOCKER ROOM/PRACTICE AREAS: Players will have limited access to locker room and clubhouse facilities. Historic merger finalised An update from the Ladies’ Golf Union and The R&A We have great pleasure in writing to inform you that the merger of the Ladies’ Golf Union (LGU) and The R&A has been finalised and will come into effect from 1 January 2017. The merger of the two governing bodies is a historic and hugely exciting step which will enable us to support golf and speak with one voice for all those who play – women and men and girls and boys. A great deal of work has been carried out over the last year to bring the merger to completion and we would very much like to thank everyone who has played a part in the process and particularly the national associations, LGU affiliated clubs, partners and sponsors for the tremendous support we have received. OHSAA Ohio High School Athletic Association 2016 OHSAA Golf Coaches Guide A Message from OHSAA Golf Administrator: Lauren Prochaska This “Golf Coaches Guide” (formerly referred to as a “Pre-Season Manual”) serves to explain and highlight both the USGA Playing Rules as well as OHSAA Regulations affecting coaches and players. As you will know by reading this, the OHSAA is doing its part to “Go Green” by eliminating the hard copy printing and mailing of this extensive guide and making it available online. It is important that we work together to insure this information is in the hands of ALL coaches – not just head coaches. In essence, this guide is a detailed written version of the rules interpretation meeting. Rules interpretation meetings are now mandatory every year. Beginning in 2016, the rules meeting will be offered online only. The online meeting will replace face to face meetings and become available July 19. Directions and availability are detailed in the early pages of this manual. We hope you’ll encourage your assistant and junior high coaches to view this also. The purpose of the “Rules Interpretation Meetings” is to give EVERYONE a thorough understanding of the interpretations of OHSAA Regulations as well as the changes to the National playing rules written by the USGA. Rules governing OHSAA golf stem from the United States Golf Association (USGA) and the OHSAA. USGA Rules govern all playing rules while OHSAA Sport Regulations govern specific rules to Ohio as well as the various administrative regulations and interpretations. Settling Ties in Handicap Competitions
SETTLING TIES IN HANDICAP COMPETITIONS How do you settle deadlocks-a halved match or a stroke-play tie-in a net competition? Rule 33-6 in the Rules of Golf requires that the Committee in charge of the competition announce a procedure for breaking ties before the competition starts. Simply stated, a halved match shall not be decided by stroke play; a tie in stroke play should not be decided by a match. Under Conditions of the Competition in Appendix I of the Rules of Golf, the USGA has some good recommendations that can help in these ticklish situations. Let's start with stroke play. One day our favorite duo, Uncle Snoopy and Woodstock, play 18 holes in a net competition at one of their favorite courses, Pumpkin Patch Golf Club. Uncle Snoopy's diligent work on his game has shaved his USGA Handicap Index down to 9.2, which translated into a Course Handicap of 11 that day. Woodstock meanwhile, has continued to struggle along with his 17.4 USGA Handicap Index, which resulted in a Course Handicap of 20 at Pumpkin Patch GC. At the end of 18 holes, Uncle Snoopy and Woodstock performed some beagle arithmetic on their scorecard. From the drawing, you can see that they both made net scores of 72. How should they proceed to break the tie? Sudden death is not recommended by the USGA in such cases. It's felt that playing hole-by-hole shouldn't decide a tie in stroke play. Instead, a playoff over 18 holes is the favored format.

THE 2006 PGA MEDIA GUIDE – 411 PGA of America Awards ¢ PGA Player of the Year The PGA Player of the Year Award is given to the top PGA Tour player based on his tournament wins, official money standing and scoring average. The point system for selecting the PGA Player of the Year was amended in 1982 and is as follows: 30 points for winning the PGA Championship, U.S. Open, British Open or Masters; 20 points for winning The Players Championship; and 10 points for winning all other designated PGA Tour events.
