WHY MADONNA HATED ME By Bill Lanphier I used to obsess over whether Madonna liked me. Long after the Virgin Tour ended I'd have a recurring dream. I'd answer the telephone and it would be her. "Mousse?" (My nickname on the tour.) "Yes?" "It's Daisy Miller!" (The alias under which Madonna registered in hotels during the Virgin Tour). "Sorry for all that shit I put you through back then. Let's do another tour together. Make things right." I don't have that dream anymore. But now, 21 years after the Virgin Tour, this woman is still in the news. Several times a year I'm asked, "What was she like? Did you ever hang out with her? Did you guys get along?" Sometimes I think she might have liked me. Other times I think not." She liked me. At the group audition at Leeds rehearsal studios in North Hollywood, Madonna sang a few songs with the prospective band, including myself, that musical director Pat Leonard had assembled. With the exception of an excellent, balding guitarist, Madonna liked us. My hair's okay! I'm going on tour with Madonna! She hated me. On the first full day of rehearsals, in a misguided effort to connect with Madonna, with whom I had almost nothing in common, I asked her, "How's your buddy?" referring to Rosanna Arquette, star of the movie they'd just completed, "Desperately Seeking Susan," and who had accompanied Madonna to the audition. Madonna's incredulous, "WHAT?" made it clear I had made the monumental mistake of overstepping my boundaries. -

The MJCast (Jamon): Jonathan 'Sugarfoot' Moffett worked with Michael Jackson and the Jacksons as their tour drummer starting in 1979 with the "Destiny Tour", and continued to work with them later for the "Triumph Tour", the "Victory Tour", Michael's 1988 Grammy Awards performance, the "HIStory World Tour", his "30th Anniversary" shows, and, eventually, "This is It". MJCast (Q): Not only did Jonathan Sugarfoot have the honor of collaborating closely with the Jacksons, but he has also toured with artists such as Madonna, George Michael, Prince, Elton John, and Lionel Richie. MJCast (Jamon): Jonathan, it's an honor to have you here on the MJCast how're you going? Jonathan Moffett: I'm doing pretty good—I've been doing pretty good. A little mistake in there—I'd never toured with Prince. I've worked in a studio [where] Madonna and Prince [were] on the same song "Keep it Together", so I've never toured. I don't want misinformation to get out there, so I've never toured with Prince, although he has asked me about touring with him, which never just came about because he was at a lot of the after parties at the Jackson shows, Elton shows, and cameo shows, and he'd speak to me and give me a combination of performance and he asked me about playing with him, but it just never happened. -

Tijuana had been proclaimed a new cultural Mecca by the US magazine Newsweek, largely due to the output of a group of artists called Nortec Collective and inadvertently spawned a new scene – a movement – called nor-tec (Mexican norteno folk music and techno). In 2001, the release of the compilation album Nortec Collective: The Tijuana Sessions Vol.1 (Palm Pictures) catapulted Tijuana from its reputation of being a sleazy, drug-crime infested Mexico/US border town to the frontline of hipness. Instantly it was hailed as a laboratory for artists exploring the clash of worlds: haves and have-nots, consumption and its leftovers, South meeting North, developed vs. underdeveloped nations, technology vs. folklore. Comunicado No. 21 Ciudad de México, martes 10 de julio de 2018 En 2018 celebra 23 años de carrera musical Molotov abre la Alhóndiga cervantina con un concierto • Después de dieciséis años vuelve a pisar el escenario del FIC • Se presenta el jueves 11 de octubre, a las 20:00 horas, en la Explanada de la Alhóndiga de Granaditas Con 23 años de trayectoria, Molotov es la banda más representativa de la escena del rock en México y Latinoamérica por su versatilidad musical y estilo irreverente de hacer denuncia social, se presenta por segunda ocasión, la primera en 2002, en el Festival Internacional Cervantino, esta vez en su edición XLVI, en la Explanada de la Alhóndiga de Granaditas, el jueves 11 de octubre, a las 20:00 horas. Desde el primer momento de su irrupción con ¿Dónde jugarán las niñas?, en 1997, el grupo entró al centro de las controversias, tanto por la portada de su álbum como por sus temas Gimme tha power y Que no te haga bobo Jacobo. La crítica los comparó con Beastie Boys y Rage Against the Machine. Ese material fue un retrato del contexto económico, político y social de la época. Fue censurado e incluso prohibida su venta. Hacía una sátira al trabajo titulado ¿Dónde jugarán los niños? de Maná. El single abrió camino a nuevos bríos del rock en español y nuevas bandas hicieron su aparición, como Resorte, Control Machete, Plastilina Mosh y Genitallica, posicionó a las que ya estaban, entre ellas La Cuca, Fobia y Santa Sabina; pudo además forjar una nueva forma y contenido en la libertad de expresión.
