FC MACHIDA ZELVIA – Fukushima United FC 0-1 2

Himawari a Ssociation 春号
北九州国際交流協会 K itakyushu I nternational Himawari A ssociation 春号 In this edition of HIMAWARI: Spring Edition Hanami, Kodomo no Hi, Hinamatsuri, the KIA is moving, an article 2013 by guest writer Jamina Ovbude, and much much more! Spring is a season worth celebrating in Japan. The weather finally warms after the long cold of winter, the cherry blossoms begin to bloom, and people finally come out from under their kotatsu and start to do things outdoors again. So without further ado, let’s look at two major spring cele- brations; Hinamatsuri (March 3rd) and Kodomo no hi (May 5th) Hinamatsuri Beginning in the Edo period, Hinamatsuri (lit. Doll Festival) is a day specifically to celebrate young girls. Families with young daughters will bring out a set of dolls known as “Hinaningyo” representing the Em- peror, Empress and their court in the style of the Heian Period and dis- play them somewhere within the house. And why the Heian Period? Ac- cording to one theory, while Hinamatsuri as a festival is only dated back to the Edo period, the act of displaying dolls is itself dated all the way back to the Heian Period. It should be kept in mind however that there are a number of differing theories on the origins of the tradition. The dolls are displayed during the 3rd as a sort of prayer for the safe and healthy growth of the girls in the household, though leaving the dolls out past March 3rd means the girl will have a late marriage. Denka Co., Corporate Communications Dept., 2021/ Publisher: 1, July. Published: Have you heard of Niigata Stadium, also known as “Denka Big Swan Stadium,” located on the banks of the Toyanogata Lake in Niigata Prefecture? Constructed as one of the 2002 FIFA World Cup venues, Niigata Stadium celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. It has been recognized under the name of “Denka” since 2014, when Denka acquired the naming rights. Its distinctive design resembles a swan spreading its wings as if to take off. With a capacity of 40,000 people, it is also used as a home stadium for Albirex Niigata, a local soccer team in the J2 league. It has also been awarded the J league Best Pitch Award six times for its well-maintained pitch. Using this stadium as a base, Denka has been actively spons oring sporting events such as the Denka Athletics Challenge Cup*1, which has been held every year since 2019. Denka decided to acquire the naming rights due to its strong connection with Niigata Prefecture. Currently, around 2,000 employees, or one third of the entire Denka Group, work in Niigata prefecture. -

The tournament was first held in 2010. We established the slogan "Football connects the world" from the second tournament held in 2011. This slogan was created after experiencing the devastating earthquake we encountered in East Japan. The importance of bonding people is incorporated in the slogan. Our aim is to incorporate the concept of FOOTBALL +1. The 'BOND' is an important aspect of the 'PLUS ONE'. If the tournament is to continue creating its own history, the 'BOND' will become inevitable. We sincerely hope that bonding throughout the tournament will prove to be a step forward from Suginami to the World, from Tokyo to the World and from Japan to the World. Influence of Spectator Density and Stadium Arrangement on Home
Infl uence of Spectator Density and Stadium Arrangement on Home Games in the J. League Rapid Paper : Football (Soccer) Infl uence of Spectator Density and Stadium Arrangement on Home Games in the J. League Tomoaki Seki* *Nayoro City University Faculty of Health and Welfare. Nishi 4 Kita 8-1 Nayoro, 096-8641 Japan [email protected] [Received June 3, 2010 ; Accepted June 1, 2011] It is widely recognized that sports teams have a “home-team advantage”. Despite its acknowledged importance, there is a lack of research on this phenomenon, specifically in the context of professional sports in Japan. The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of crowd density (the ratio of attendance to seating capacity) and spectator attendance (the total number of spectators attending home games in the current season) on home-team advantage in the J. League. The relationship between crowd density and home- team advantage was examined by an assessment of correlation coeffi cients. The relationship between team performance and stadium usage patterns was also investigated through a series of chi-square tests. Results showed that clubs which primarily use their main stadium for home games do not necessarily have a high crowd density, while other clubs have a higher level of crowd density by using several stadiums. In addition, the results indicate that crowd density has a weak effect on the home-team advantage. Based on the study findings, the fi ndings, managerial implications and directions for future research are discussed. Keywords: J. League, spectator density, stadium arrangement, home-team advantage [Football Science Vol.8, 16-25, 2011] 1. -
