  • Cast Heads West to Join Chris Noth and Chris Pine in Farragut North at the Geffen Playhouse
CAST HEADS WEST TO JOIN CHRIS NOTH AND CHRIS PINE IN FARRAGUT NORTH AT THE GEFFEN PLAYHOUSE Mia Barron, Dan Bittner, Justin Huen, Olivia Thirlby and Isiah Whitlock Jr. Reprise Their NY Roles in the West Coast Premiere of Beau Willimon’s New Play Directed by Doug Hughes LOS ANGELES, May 8, 2009 — Fresh off his lauded New York production of Farragut North, director Doug Hughes reunites much of his ensemble cast, including Juno’s Olivia Thirlby, The Wire’s Isiah Whitlock, Jr, Mia Barron, Dan Bittner and Justin Huen, at the Geffen Playhouse to join the previously announced Chris Noth and Chris Pine. Noth, best known for his longtime stint as Detective Mike Logan on Law & Order and as the (in)famous Mr.Big on Sex and the City, is a fellow cast member from the Atlantic Theater Company’s NY production, while Pine, who is starring as the young Captain Kirk in the new film Star Trek and was recently seen in the Geffen’s production of Neil LaBute’s Fat Pig, is new to the LA production. Written by Beau Willimon, Farragut North was recently nominated for two Outer Critics Circle Awards including Outstanding New Off-Broadway Play. Set against the backdrop of a close presidential race, Farragut North is a timely tale of hubris, loyalty and the lust for power. Chris Pine takes on the role of Stephen, a young press secretary working for a fast-rising candidate. With confidence and power beyond his years, Stephen is convinced he and seasoned campaign manager, Paul, played by Chris Noth, can steer this team into the west wing without breaking a sweat.

The exhibition opened on November 8, 2016, with special preview performances from November 2 - 6, 2016 during the NYCF. Paranoia Man in a Rat Fink Room continues after the festival with events and discussions brought together by Storefront through February 18, 2017. The exhibition follows a tradition of spatial experimentation at Storefront where the boundaries between architecture, art, and the subject are dissolved into one continuous environment. The installation is a historical pastiche of urban and architectural experiences linked through a mise-en-scène comprised of three architectural environments - a Canal Street style kiosk filled with the leftover DVDs and VHSs from Jungle Video (a now defunct media superstore in Los Angeles); a comedy club partially inspired by the original Rat Fink Room (the world's first dedicated stand-up comedy club, which opened in 1963); and a bathroom that has been converted into surveillance headquarters that will keep audio/video recordings of the last days of Storefront. ABOUT PARANOIA MAN IN A RAT FINK ROOM Storefront for Art and Architecture is closing its doors for good*.

It has been accepted for inclusion in University of Chicago Legal Forum by an authorized editor of Chicago Unbound. For more information, please contact [email protected]. The Rules of #MeToo Jessica A. Clarke† ABSTRACT Two revelations are central to the meaning of the #MeToo movement. First, sexual harassment and assault are ubiquitous. And second, traditional legal procedures have failed to redress these problems. In the absence of effective formal legal pro- cedures, a set of ad hoc processes have emerged for managing claims of sexual har- assment and assault against persons in high-level positions in business, media, and government. This Article sketches out the features of this informal process, in which journalists expose misconduct and employers, voters, audiences, consumers, or professional organizations are called upon to remove the accused from a position of power. Although this process exists largely in the shadow of the law, it has at- tracted criticisms in a legal register. President Trump tapped into a vein of popular backlash against the #MeToo movement in arguing that it is “a very scary time for young men in America” because “somebody could accuse you of something and you’re automatically guilty.” Yet this is not an apt characterization of #MeToo’s paradigm cases.

  • Jenny Lewis Feels Good. That Sounds Simple, but It's Been a Long Time
10/15/2015 Jenny Lewis Is Writing Songs Without Apology | Bitch Media MUSIC (/MUSIC) JENNY LEWIS (/TOPIC/JENNYLEWIS) by Hannah Steinkopf-Frank (/profile/hannah-steinkopf-frank) Published on August 25, 2015 at 10:48am Jenny Lewis feels good. That sounds simple, but it’s been a long time coming for the ‘90s child actor turned prolific musician. As a kid, Lewis starred in films like The Wizard and Troop Beverly Hills before pursing music. Her band Rilo Kiley was part of the wave of indie groups that defined the alternative music scene of the aughts. But in recent years, Lewis has faced a series of setbacks: the disbanding of Rilo Kiley, the death of her father, and chronic insomnia. https://bitchmedia.org/article/interview-jenny-lewis-music-and-voyager-feminism 1/9 10/15/2015 Jenny Lewis Is Writing Songs Without Apology | Bitch Media It was these experiences that provided the material for last year’s The Voyager (http://www.jennylewis.com/), her first solo release since 2008’s Acid Tongue. For Lewis, making The Voyager was freeing. Without the pressure of bandmates, she was able to have total control over her music, albeit with the occasional guidance of Beck and Ryan Adams. Lewis has also returned to her Hollywood roots and scored best-friend flick Very Good Girls and 2014 film Song One, which starred her friend Anne Hathaway. Lewis most recently wrote a song with boyfriend and collaborator Jonathan Rice for Meryl Streep’s rocker character, Ricki, in the new film Ricki and the Flash (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3623726/).
