PHILADELPHIA EAGLES LINCOLN FINANCIAL FIELD Game Day STAFF NEWSLETTER Bird’s eye view “We will provide our Guests with the highest quality sports and entertainment experience in a safe, clean and friendly environment.” Issue 8 : Eagles vs. Giants Eagles vs. Giants Preview BY: Greg Hemberger Philadelphia vs. New York. Phillies vs. Mets. Flyers vs. Rangers. Eagles vs. Giants. Perhaps the most intense sporting rivalry that Philadelphia has is with the state of New York. No matter whether the game is baseball, football, dominoes, Jenga or marbles, having Phila- delphia against New York will always bring a passionate interest to the event. Put the game in a national spotlight and the intensity will surely increase. This is what is on hand Sunday as the Philadelphia Eagles host the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football on NBC. The Giants, with a record of 7-1 on the season, are coming off an impressive 35-14 win over fellow NFC East foe the Cowboys and are currently riding a three game winning streak. Their recipe for success is having an intimidating and harassing defense, a strong running game with several viable options and a steady passing game. This combination helped lead the Giants to a win last year in the Super Bowl and victories in seven of eight games this year, making them a formidable opponent. Juqua Parker The Eagles, on the other hand, will be coming back to the East coast after handing the Seattle Seahawks a 26-7 defeat. Also riding a three game winning streak, the Eagles are starting to look more consistent on of- fense as players who have been injured for multiple games have had more time to gel with this year’s team. This week could be the closest to 100% health that the Eagles have been all year and it couldn’t come at a better time. The key to the success of the Eagles offense will be their ability to give Donovan McNabb time to get rid of the ball. The Giants are currently leading the NFL with 30 sacks on the season, thanks in large part to their terrific defensive line, which hasn’t missed a beat since last year’s sack leader Osi Umenyiora was lost for the year due to injury. If the offensive line and tailbacks can keep McNabb upright for most of the game, he should be able to utilize the many offensive weapons this team has. Defensively, the Eagles will need to stop the 6-4, 264 lb tank of a running back, Brandon Jacobs. Jacobs torched the Cow- boys for 117 yards and a touchdown on only 17 carries, giving the Giants the opportunity to control the ballgame. This game has all the makings of being a thrilling game as the Eagles try to get their first win in the NFC East and keep pace with the Redskins and Giants! Go Eagles! West Gate Supporting The Phillies P AGE 3 Audibiles By PJ BURNS PJ Burns snaps some questions to the Eagles’ NEW Guest Services Manager Rachel Vitagliano PB: Congratulations on being named Guest Services Manager. How does it feel? RV: It is exciting and very rewarding to be in the position that I’ve had my eye on since I was an intern. PB: What has been the biggest challenge for you thus far in your new role? RV: Looking at things on a more global view than before where things were on a smaller scale…and cleaning out Paul’s dirty office. PB: I know you’re still settling in but can you give us a sneak peak at anything new you’ll be looking to implement with our Game Day Staff?. RV: Staff Compliment Cards. They are another way for fans to report Good Plays! by our Game Day Staff. On this card, our Guests have the opportunity to write about their experience and, in turn, we can better reward our staff members. PB: Do you like being asked such serious questions? RV: No! PB: Ok; now the fun stuff. Are you a cat person or a dog person? RV: Cat. I’m obsessed with kittens, but I don’t have any. Not only do I like cats but I like cats wearing things like hats or pictures of cats with funny captions. PB: I know you enjoy going to concerts. What has been the best concert you’ve seen? RV: Tough question. The best concert I’ve seen is probably Oasis at the Festival Pier. PB: What about the worst concert? RV: 311 also at the Festival Pier.
