The award is a symbol of overall athletic excellence in Conference- sponsored championships. Since the new format was adopted six years ago, the Panthers have won three of the six OVC Commissioner’s Cups while placing second the other three years. EIU won in championship in 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2012-13. WILLIAM PERRY EASTERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT William L. Perry began serving Eastern Illinois University as president on July 1, 2007, following 36 years of service to higher education in Texas. EIU Board of Trustees Mr. Kristopher Goetz - Chairperson Perry, who was born and raised in the Midwest, received his Mr. Rene M. Hutchinson - Vice Chairperson M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Illinois, Urbana- Dr. Jan Spivey Gilchrist - Secretary Champaign. In his subsequent career at Texas A&M University, he Dr. Robert D. Webb - Member Pro-Tem proceeded through the tenured faculty ranks in mathematics, and Mr. Joseph R.
