Government College University Faisalabad, Pakistan Abstract—Sindh is our second largest populated province. Historical Populations Growth of Sindh It has a great role in culture and economy of Pakistan. Karachi the largest city of Pakistan in terms of population Census Year Total Population Urban Population also has a unique impact in development of Pakistan. Now 1951 6,047,748 29.23% according to the current census of 2017 Sindh is again 1961 8,367,065 37.85% standing on second position. Karachi is still on top of the list in Pakistan’s ten most populated cities. Population of 1972 14,155,909 40.44% Karachi has not grown on an expected rate. But it was due 1981 19,028,666 43.31% to many reasons like bad law and order situation, miss management of the Karachi and use of contraceptive 1998 29,991,161 48.75% measures. This project aims to enhance public spaces in targeted neighborhoods of Karachi, and improve the city’s capacity to provide selected administrative services. Under KNIP, the Priority Phase – I subproject is Educational and Cultural Zone (hereinafter referred to as “Subproject”). The objective of this subproject is to improve mobility and quality of life for local residents and provide quality public spaces to meet citizen’s needs. The Educational and Cultural Zone (Priority Phase – I) Subproject ESMP Report is being submitted to Directorate of Urban Policy & Strategic Planning, Planning & Development Department, Government of Sindh in fulfillment of the conditions of deliverables as stated in the TORs. Overview the Sub-project Educational and Cultural Zone (Priority Phase – I) Subproject forms a triangle bound by three major roads i.e. Strachan Road, Dr. Ziauddin Ahmed Road and M.R. Kayani Road. Total length of subproject roads is estimated as 2.5 km which also forms subproject boundary. Lt Gen Tariq Khan, HI (M) (Retd) Lt Gen Tariq Khan, HI (M) (Retd), is Chief Executive & Managing Director of Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited, FFC Energy Limited and Fauji Fresh n Freeze Limited and also holds directorship on the Boards of following: Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Limited Askari Bank Limited Fauji Foods Limited Philip Morris (Pakistan) Limited Fauji Meat Limited FFBL Foods Limited FFBL Power Company Limited Thar Energy Limited Pakistan Maroc Phosphore S.A. He is Chairman of Sona Welfare Foundation (SWF) and Fertilizer Manufacturers of Pakistan Advisory Council (FMPAC) and member of the Board of Governors of Foundation University, Islamabad. The General was commissioned in Pakistan Army in April1977 with the coveted Sword of Honour. During his illustrious service in the Army, he had been employed on various prestigious command, staff and instructional assignments including command of a Strike Corps. He is a graduate of Command and Staff College Quetta and National Defence University Islamabad. He also holds Master Degree in War Studies. He has served on the faculty of Command and Staff College Quetta and National Defence University Islamabad. Since his retirement, he is on the honorary faculty of renowned institutions including National Defence University as a senior mentor. The General possesses vast experience as adviser to the leading corporate entities. He has been awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) and is also the first Pakistan Army General who has been conferred upon the U.S ‘Legion of Merit’ by the U.S Government for his meritorious services as a senior representative at U.S CENTCOM in Tampa, Florida.
