This University was established following the Tamil Nadu Government Act No.32 of 2002 to cater the needs of the students from four districts namely Vellore, Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram and Cuddalore. This University provides opportunity to students to enrich knowledge in the domain of their choice and skill development towards employability in addition to the over all improvement in their culture and good qualities. I am extremely glad to release the University Calendar for Nov / Dec 2013 examinations. I hope that, this examination calendar will be useful to the Principals, Chief Superintendents, Staff and Students for the effective conduct of examinations. This calendar comprises of detailed schedule of Examinations for all UG / PG degree courses, instructions for the conduct of examinations and probable dates of publications of examination results. The objective of this calendar is to ensure effective and proper co-ordination between the University and the Colleges in the conduct of examinations. Hence great care has been taken to give all pieces of relevant and vital information such as names of examinations with subject codes, dates of examinations and probable dates of publication of results. These measures will enable the staff of both the University and Colleges to plan and execute all the works regarding conduct of examinations effectively. I take this opportunity to make an appeal to all the Principals and staff both teaching and non-teaching of all Colleges to ensure proper co-ordination in planning and execution of all examination related works. I am optimistic that a careful analysis and strict adherence to the meticulous planning of this calendar by all concerned will certainly ensure smooth conduct of examinations at every stage and thus make possible the publication of results in time and as per schedule. It is my earnest request to the Principals to take a careful note of the Instruction insurance to CHIEF SUPERINTENDENT, INVIGILATORS and SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS and bring them to the notice of all concerned by taking sufficient Xerox copies. I shall be happy to receive constructive suggestions from any corner for possible improvement. Again I shall remain thankful if the errors, if any, are brought to my notice for rectification. M.A., M.Phil., 0416-2274757 PP Assistant Registrar THIRUVALLUVAR UNIVERSITY NOV/DEC 2013 EXAMINATIONS INSTRUCTIONS TO CHIEF SUPERINTENDENTS 1. The forenoon session of the examination commences at 10.00 a.m. and the afternoon session of the examination commences at 2.00 p.m. Any unauthorized persons should not be permitted to enter the examination halls. 2. The Chief Superintendents are instructed to open the question paper packets in the presence of Invigilators. 3. The Invigilators should be specifically instructed to inform the candidates that they should write their Register Numbers and Subject Codes at the appropriate places in the answer scripts exactly and legibly without overwriting as given in the Hall Ticket and further the invigilators should verify the same in the answer script of each candidate. 4. While leaving the office of the Chief Superintendent before the commencement of the examinations, the invigilators should be requested to check and confirm the number of question papers and answer books received by them. 5. The Invigilators must be given clear instructions that while collecting the answer scripts they have to ensure that answer scripts are collected from all the candidates and also signed by the Invigilators in the answer books and additional sheets. 6. Chief Superintendents should ensure that unused question papers and answer books are collected from the Invigilators 30 minutes after the commencement of the examination in each session. No candidate is permitted to enter the hall 30 minutes after the commencement of the examination and any candidate may be permitted to leave the hall only after 30 minutes of the commencement of the examinations. 7. There will be one Invigilator for a group of 25 candidates and part thereof. 8. No person whose dependent is a candidate for this examination should, in any way, be associated with the conduct of the examinations. 9. Seating arrangements should be completed a day before the date of the examinations. Seating arrangements should be convenient. Proper care must be taken that students belonging to the same subject should not be seated together. 10. Drinking water facility should be made available to the candidates in the examination rooms and adjacent to the examination room. 11. Before opening the Question Paper Packets, it should be verified that the required number of question papers are received in all subjects with the relevant Code Numbers and dates of Examinations, for which the candidates have been registered at the centre. 12. The Invigilator should be informed that the signature of the candidate should obtained in the attendance sheet prescribed and the Hall Ticket of each candidate should be checked with the photograph pasted on his / her Hall Ticket. 13. No candidate should be allowed to appear in a subject to which he / she has not registered. 14. Bell would be rung as indicated below: i) 30 minutes before the commencement of the examination. ii) At the commencement of the examination. iii) 30 minutes after the commencement of the examination. iv) Ten minutes before the end of the examination. v) At the end of examination. 15. The disabled students will be given one hour extra time for each paper. Such candidates are not allowed to bring their own amanuensis. 16. If any candidate is found using unfair means in the examination, a report about the same and the incriminating material, if any, recovered from the candidate should be forwarded to the University addressed by name to the Controller of Examinations along with the statement duly signed by the candidate and countersigned by the Invigilator. 17. The Chief Superintendent of the examinations should not leave the centre till the conclusion of the examination and completion of sealing and safe deposit of the answer scripts packets and other documents. 18. All the answer scripts for each subject should be packed separately and care should be taken to arrange the papers inside the packet neatly in the ascending order of the Register Number exactly as indicated in the foil cards. 19. The absentees statement showing for all the examinations held at the centre, should be sent separately addressed to the Controller of Examinations. 20. Special care should be taken while packing the answer scripts so as to avoid mixing of papers with different subject codes. THIRUVALLUVAR UNIVERSITY NOV/DEC 2013 EXAMINATIONS INSTRUCTIONS TO INVIGILATORS 1. The forenoon session of examination commences at 10.00 a.m. and the afternoon session of the examination commences at 2.00 p.m. 2. The Invigilator should reach the hall at 9.45 a.m. / 1.45 p.m. sharp along with the question papers and answer scripts. 3. The answer scripts should be distributed at 9.45 a.m. / 1.45 p.m. so as to allow the candidates to fill in all the information in the answer script. 4. The question paper should be distributed to the candidates sharp at 10.00 a.m. / 2.00 p.m. soon after the bell rings. 5. a) No candidate will be allowed to enter the Examination hall after 10.30 a.m. / 2.30 p.m. b) No Candidate will be allowed to leave the room before 10.30 a.m. / 2.30 p.m. 6. The Invigilator should ask the candidates to: a) Check that the answer books supplied to them are not defective and if so, to obtain another copy from the Invigilator in lieu of the first one. b) Check the question paper with reference to page numbers, code number / subject code and title of the paper. c) Check that the Register Number, as exactly given in the Hall Ticket, is written by the candidate in the appropriate place in the answer script and that the digits are written legibly without over-writing.
