Kornhill International Nursery Reg: CCC/705 Kornhill Anglo-Chinese Kindergarten (Int’l Section) Reg: 21576 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR AIMS: To develop intellect, spirit, physique, creativity, emotional and social skills in a multi-cultural environment. CURRICULUM: Our program is based on a thematic approach derived from the Creative Curriculum from Teaching Strategies (USA). We use English as the medium of teaching with Mandarin lessons starting from K1. Within each theme, the study of language, mathematic concepts, science, social studies, physical development, and creative arts and music are explored. We also offer a Chinese stream starting from K1 in Cantonese for those students who wish to learn Chinese reading and writing. K3 students may extend their hours to join the optional Cantonese class in the afternoons; you may ask the school office about the fees. TEACHERS: Our teachers bring with them teaching experience from various parts of the world, namely the U.S., Canada, South Africa, Australia and/or the UK. Our teachers have or are currently upgrading their qualifications relevant to teaching young learners. CLASS SIZE: Our classroom limits range from 18 to 26 with a student teacher ratio of 11:1 in the kindergarten and 8:1 in the nursery. BUS SERVICE: Please note we only provide bus service to the attached listed stops. We are not able to add any new stops so please consider this when applying. Please also note that for those K1, K2, & K3 students who choose the 9:00am-12:00 noon option, 12:00 bus service is only provided for those stations set for nursery students as they have priority for the 12:00 bus route. Nursery students have the roundtrip bus service for both morning and afternoon sessions. VISITS: We welcome visits and encourage parents to visit when our class is in session starting at the end of September. Please call the school to make appointments as we have limited time slots. FEES: Nursery per year: $71,390 spread over 11 months ($6490 per month; 9:00am-12:00noon or 1:00pm-4:00pm) K1, K2 & K3 AM Int’l Section per year: $72,600 spread over 11 months ($6600 per month; 9:00am-12:00noon) 12:00noon to 2:00pm optional extended time (includes lunch time). Both choices have the same monthly school fee of $6600. K1, K2 & K3 PM Int’l Section per year: $44,000 spread over 11 months ($4000 per month; 1:00pm-4:00pm) (does not include lunch time). K1, K2 & K3 PM Anglo-Chinese Section per year: $19,800 spread over 11 months ($1800 per month; 1:00pm-4:00pm) (does not include lunch time). Fees are tentative until the approval of the Education Department. We do not participate in the New Kindergarten Education Scheme. All school fees are collected for 11 months from September to July. Non-payment of any month is considered a withdrawal and no progress report or certificate may be issued if a child does not finish the school year. Bus fees are collected for 11 months. A material and book fee for each term is also collected, there are 2 terms each year. (N1 & K1: $1800-$2200/K2 & K3: $3000-$3500 per term depending on class level.) 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR Reg: CCC/705 Reg: 21576 Application Procedure 1. From September 1st to November 22nd, parents may apply. For any application submitted after the deadline, an interview will be offered if there is any space available. Download, print and completely fill in the application form and provide all documents listed below. 2. Attach a copy of the child’s birth certificate and the $40 administration fee made to Kornhill International Nursery. Include two self-addressed stamped envelopes (A5 paper size). 3. Put one photo on the application form. Please note that if your child is a sibling of a current student or is currently attending our playclass, please state in the remarks section. 4. Mail to Kornhill International Nursery, 16 Hong Shing Street, Kornhill, Quarry Bay, HK. 5. Interview letters: a. Those born from January to October 2018 will be interviewed at the end of November 2019. Interview letters will be sent out within 14 days of receiving your application, or if the interview date is less than 14 days away, an office staff will contact you directly to arrange the interview time and date. b. Those born in November and December 2018 will be interviewed in December 2019. c. Those applying to K1 should be born in the year 2017. K1-K3 students will be interviewed at the end of November 2019. 6. Attend the interview. The interview will be either a group activity or 1-on-1 where only 1 parent may enter the classroom. The interview will take around 20 min. to 40 min., which includes warmup time and waiting time. If you are late, you will need to wait for the next opening. Please note that the interview date and time cannot be changed due to time constraints and teachers’ availability. 7. After the interview date, an email of acceptance, rejection, or an email to inform you of being put on the waiting list will go out over the next month for those who attend the interview date. 8. Those students that are accepted must place a deposit of $970 by the deadline stated in the acceptance email. Those accepted N1PM students who want to transfer to the N1AM class must place a deposit first for the PM class and then fill in the transfer form to be placed on the AM waiting list. There is no guarantee that you will be able to enter the AM class as this depends on vacancy available and the date that we receive your transfer form. Please note that if you withdraw after the first deposit has been made and then wish to be placed on the waiting list again, you must submit another deposit of $970 and transfer form to be eligible for a space and will be placed on the list according to the date it was received. 9. In May 2020, those students who have been accepted and placed a deposit should submit the material and uniform fees to prepare for the new school year. A letter will be sent out informing you of the deadline for payments. 10. In June 2020, there will be an orientation for all new students and parents. All students will be notified by postal mail. Please check your mail to ensure you have received notice by mid-June. 11. You must inform us of the intention to use the bus service by the date of the orientation by filling out a bus application form. Please note that we will not change or add new bus stops to the existing routes. Please consider this before applying. ① A copy of the birth certificate or passport with relevant visa of your child ② Place one photo on the application. (passport sized) ③ Attach 2 A5 PAPER-SIZE self-addressed stamped envelopes with student name along with application. Please use $2 stamps. ④ Please mail the completed application form with a check for $40 (administrative fee including the interview arrangements) to Kornhill International Nursery. Forms need to be printed on A4-sized piece of paper. An interview date and receipt for the $40 will be mailed to you.
