Southern District Bus-Bus Interchange Scheme
Southern District Bus-Bus Interchange Scheme This BBI Scheme is designated for passengers traveling between Sham Wan and Wah Fu/ Central, Ap Lei Chau and Central/ Eastern District, and South Horizons and Wong Chuk Hang/ Sham Wan/ Chi Fu. Under this scheme, residents of Broadview Court can use Route 97A to interchange to, and from, Routes 48 and 71. Residents at Ap Lei Chau Main Street can use Route 97A to interchange to and from Routes 90, 90B and Route 99 at Ap Lei Chau Bridge Road; and interchange to and from Route 76 at Wong Chuk Hang Road. Passengers traveling between South Horizons and Wong Chuk Hang or Sham Wan can make interchange among routes 95C and 97A at Ap Lei Chau Bridge Road. The fare for Route 97A will be waived when interchanging to and from the above mentioned connecting bus routes, using the same Octopus card within the time limit. The waived fare for Route 97A or Route 95C is $2.70 or $3.10 (Child / Senior: $1.40 or $1.60). He was the son of a gardener, Richard Thomas, and Emily Barman from Tenterden, an area of Kent where many people of the Barman name still live. Charles had two brothers, Richard and George, and a younger sister, Elsie. As a boy, he attended the local primary school at Canterbury and attended services at the Cathedral. -

In this issue, we have featured several highly of talented alumni who have made a considerable impact in their chosen careers in the contemporary world of acting, music, social media, CONTENTS fashion and writing. I hope you will enjoy reading about each alumni’s KGV’s Pop King amazing journey from ESF School to the world of work. Please do not forget to check out the “Class Aarif Rahman (李治廷) Notes” and “What’s Happening” King George V School (KGV) sections as well. I was appointed as development & alumni manager for Island 04 School in October 2014. This past year has been incredibly rewarding as ESF builds on its success to provide a first class international education, develop broader community support and School of Rock embark on extensive redevelopment projects for the benefit of student learning. Island School’s redevelopment plan for its Borrett Justin Sweeting Road site started in earnest in early 2006. Island School will also Island School (IS) celebrate its 50th Anniversary in mid-2017, and the development office is working closely with stakeholders of the school in planning 08 several celebrations for this most iconic event in the school’s history! The Island School Alumni Association (“ISAA”) continues to expand its alumni network.They engage with current students, explore Fashion Forward mentorship and internship opportunities, design career sessions and provide networking opportunities. -

Discriminatory Zoning in Colonial Hong Kong: A r eview of the post-war literature and some f ur ther evidence f or an economic theor y of discr imination Abstract TYPE OF PAPER: RESEARCH PAPER STRUCTURED ABSTRACT Purpose: This paper argues that racially discriminatory zoning in Colonial Hong Kong could have been a form of protectionism driven by economic considerations. Design/Methodology/Approach: This paper was based on a review of the relevant ordinances, literature, and public information, notably data obtained from the Land Registry and telephone directories. Findings: This paper reveals that many writings on racial matters in Hong Kong were not a correct interpretation or presentation of facts. It shows that after the repeal of the discriminatory laws in 1946r, an increasing number of people, both Chinese and European, were living in the Peak district. Besides, Chinese were found to be acquiring land even under the discriminatory law for Barker Road during the mid-1920s and became, after 1946, the majority landlords by the mid-1970s. This testifies to the argument that the Chinese could compete economically with Europeans for prime residential premises in Hong Kong. Research Implications: This paper lends further support to the Lawrence-Marco proposition raised in Environment and Planning B: Planning and Design by Lai and Yu (2001), which regards segregation zoning as a means to reduce the effective demand of an economically resourceful social group. Practical Implications: This paper shows how title documents for land and telephone directories can be used to measure the degree of racial segregation. Originality/Value: This paper is the first attempt to systematically re-interpret English literature on racially discriminatory zoning in Hong Kong’s Peak area using reliable public information from Crown Leases and telephone directories. -
