What is cloud computing?
Cloud computing describes a new supplement, consumption, and delivery model for IT services based on the Internet, and it typically involves over-the-Internet provision of dynamically scalable and often virtualized resources.

Cloud Architecture
Cloud Architecture – What’s the Key?
Think about learning systems for a moment….
Think past the LMS…..whats the key?
Scalability via dynamic ("on-demand") provisioning of resources on a fine-grained, self-service basis near real-time, without users having to engineer for peak loads. Performance is monitored, and consistent and loosely coupled architectures are constructed using web services as the system interface.

Step Back In Time EVENT BASED TRAINING
Ugly Side Of Event Based Training
By definition, something one has to ‘attend’
Events are packaged (Remain still in time)
Takes time to assemble and deliver

How Does This Help?
Move from an ‘event’ to real time, on the job performance support. •Including advances in networking to find subject matter expertise Use advances in web technology to provide context sensitive instruction •Network training into work environment

How does this help
The web is a ubiquitous platform
Computers are NOT stand alone machines. They are networking devices.
Computer technology is focusing on processing information in real time versus storage.
The Big Question
Or many small ones….Any questions up to now?

Is It Effective/Is It Efficient?
The second was an experiment in a Tsunami-hit Indian village, where I was trying to prove that Tamil-speaking 12-year-olds cannot teach themselves biotechnology in English.
At the end of the experiment, a little girl told me, "Apart from the fact that improper replication of the DNA molecule causes genetic disease, we have understood nothing else."

The Future
Things You Can Do Today
Consider how to break apart your training content
Create a ‘taxonomy’ that describes who needs what information and when
Deploy non-proprietary formats
Disaggregate content from form and function
