President’s Message IAAF World Indoor Championships Global support for IAAF World Indoor health, the environment, Portland 2016 Championships, Portland social inclusion and peace. 2016 The IAAF World Indoor Powered by Championships are the most important IAAF World Athletics Series competition after the outdoor world championships. Progress Report to IAAF Council Portland marks a welcome November 2015 return of the world indoors to the United States of America. In 1987 Indianapolis, USA played host to the inaugural edition of the IAAF World Indoor Championships*. Since then there have been non- stadia events (race walking and cross country) and a wonderful world juniors in 2014. The IAAF World Indoor Championships, Portland 2016 therefore represent the most significant IAAF World Athletics Series competition to be hosted in the USA in three decades. The USA is historically the strongest athletics nation as measured by overall participation and the medals won by its athletes. Many of the legends of our sport are American. USA, the world’s first economic power, is a heartland of our sport yet general public perception of track and field athletics is low. The IAAF World Indoor Championships, Portland 2016 (17-20 March 2016) in the Oregon Convention Center will do much to raise awareness in America. Aside from the Rio Olympic Games these championships are the most important athletics event in 2016. I look forward with great anticipation to joining the athletes, coaches, officials, media and fans from around 150 nations in Portland. Sebastian -

#PGATOUR! INTRODUCTION Bryan Ahearn couldn’t believe his good luck. His employer, ParFour Marketing, has relied on him to de- liver insightful and successful marketing strategies for key clients as the “Voice of the Millennial.” As the largest living generation, many brands and media companies knew that millennials, and the following generation, Gen Z, were critical to their success in the future. Now, Bryan was given an assignment to develop a media and marketing plan for the PGA TOUR for the upcoming season that would engage Mil- lennials with the organization’s social media, viewership, and events. Bryan had been a golfer since high school, and played on his college team. His vacations and business trips often included finding a new golf course wherever he traveled. However, he knew mere enthusi- asm for the sport would not satisfy the PGA TOUR. He knew that success for this client would center on delivering results on five key performance indicators (KPI’s): o Increase attendance of 18-34-year-old fans on-site (at tournaments) ▪ The amount of time spent on-site ▪ The amount of money spent on-site o Convert casual fans who watch majors and other sports into PGA TOUR tournament at- tendees o Provide excitement for fans looking for social and memorable experiences o Increase the number of Millennials who watch PGA TOUR events on various social media platforms o Increase the number of Millennial followers on PGA TOUR social media PGA TOUR Bryan first reviewed the scope of his client. He learned that the PGA TOUR is headquartered in Ponte Vedra, FL, USA, and is the main organizer of the professional golf tournaments played primarily by male golfers in the United States and North America. -

Renoir, Impressionism, and Full-Length Painting
FIRST COMPREHENSIVE STUDY OF RENOIR’S FULL-LENGTH CANVASES BRINGS TOGETHER ICONIC WORKS FROM EUROPE AND THE U.S. FOR AN EXCLUSIVE NEW YORK CITY EXHIBITION RENOIR, IMPRESSIONISM, AND FULL-LENGTH PAINTING February 7 through May 13, 2012 This winter and spring The Frick Collection presents an exhibition of nine iconic Impressionist paintings by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, offering the first comprehensive study of the artist’s engagement with the full-length format. Its use was associated with the official Paris Salon from the mid-1870s to mid- 1880s, the decade that saw the emergence of a fully fledged Impressionist aesthetic. The project was inspired by Renoir’s La Promenade of 1875–76, the most significant Impressionist work in the Frick’s permanent collection. Intended for public display, the vertical grand-scale canvases in the exhibition are among the artist’s most daring and ambitious presentations of contemporary subjects and are today considered masterpieces of Impressionism. The show and accompanying catalogue draw on contemporary criticism, literature, and archival documents to explore the motivation behind Renoir’s full-length figure paintings as well as their reception by critics, peers, and the public. Recently-undertaken technical studies of the canvases will also shed new light on the artist’s working methods. 2008 USATF Annual Report WELCOME TO USA TRACK & FIELD Three letters: “U.S.A.” Together they are the most powerful brand in Olympic sport, and nowhere is it stronger than on the track and in the field. The organization charged with growing that brand and administering the U.S. team, USA Track & Field (USATF) is the national governing body for track and field, long distance running and race walking in the United States. Part of the Olympic Family, with the power of “The Rings” behind it, USATF also is a modern, professional sports organization who views its peers as the NBA, MLS and other pro sports leagues. USATF’s raison d’etre is to advance the sport of track and field in the American psyche and in the American sports business and entertainment industries. The sport is international, elemental and eternal. Among the most ubiquitous and accessible activities in the world, track and field has universal appeal, with 213 national member federations competing on the international level. It is a powerful social and economic force in the United States, where more than 30 million Americans are runners and 10 million Americans run 100 times or more each year. Indoor and outdoor track and cross country is the #1 participatory sport in American junior highs and high schools. Tens of thousands of Americans are involved with the sport as coaches, officials and volunteers. The sport penetrates deeply into the inner cities, while fans at some meets boast an average household income well over $150,000. All things to all people? Maybe … but in the best possible way, and with focus on growth.
