Sam's Club Joins Carefirst's Vision Network

Sam’s Club Joins CareFirst’s Vision Network

Effective January 1, 2011, Sam’s Club joined the Davis Vision network that supports our vision programs. The addition of Sam’s Club to the Davis Vision network applies to all CareFirst Group and Individual vision programs, except Select Vision.

Best of all, members do not need to be a member of Sam’s Club to receive their vision benefits. Benefits will be administered in the same manner as at Walmart Vision Centers.

 Most independent participating providers have the Davis Collection of Frames available in their offices. However, retailers, such as Sam’s Club and Walmart, do not. When CareFirst members choose eyeglass frames from Sam’s Club’s own collection, they receive an allowance specific to the group’s vision benefit. The allowance is applied to the Sam’s Club charge, and the member is responsible for any balance. Sam’s Club’s retail cost for frames is comparable to that of the Davis Collection of Frames; therefore, the member could have the cost of the frames paid in full when purchasing Sam’s Club eyeglasses.

 Sam’s Club contracts with an independent laboratory to fabricate eyeglasses purchased at its stores. The same comprehensive one-year unconditional breakage warranty offered with the Davis Collection of Frames will also be available at no additional cost for frames and lenses purchased at Sam’s Club.

Locating Participating Providers Nationally, 501 Sam’s Clubs with on-site optical centers will be added to the Davis Vision network that supports CareFirst’s vision programs. When members use Sam’s Club for eyewear purchases, they should also check the participation status of the on-site optometrist for eye exams to ensure they are a participating provider.

To locate a participating provider, visit www.carefirst.com and click Find a Doctor then Vision. From here, members will be able to access Davis Vision’s Provider Finder. Participating Sam’s Clubs and on-site optometrists will be included in Davis Vision’s Provider Finder as of January 1, 2011.
