Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country earlier this year the eff ects of the outbreak have reached every corner of the U.S. and has had a devasta ng impact on ci zens and businesses across the na on. The Cardinals organiza- on – along with the players and staff – immediately mobilized to donate me, money and other resources throughout Arizona to assist the individuals, busi- nesses, schools, frontline health care personnel and other organiza ons that have been so greatly aff ected by the crisis. $1 MILLION FOUNDING CONTRIBUTION TO THE AZ CORONAVIRUS RELIEF FUND On March 24, the Cardinals made a $1 million founding contribu on to the AZ Coronavirus Relief Fund. As part of the Arizona Together ini a ve launched earlier that day by Governor Doug Ducey, the fund was set upestablished to provide fi nancial support to organiza ons working to mi gate the impacts of COVID-19 in Arizona. Ini ally, it focused on the following immediate needs: Funding of Personal Protec ve Equipment (PPE) for frontline medical per- sonnel. Non-profi t organiza ons that support the most vulnerable Arizonans through food banks, homeless shelters, domes c violence facili es, and other services. Providing disadvantaged students with the technology necessary to transi on to online learning. “Like so many in our community, this unprecedented crisis has us asking what we can do to help and what might have the greatest impact,” said Cardinals Owner Michael Bidwill said of the dona on. “We are grateful for the crea on of this relief fund, are proud to support its cri cally important mission and hope that others throughout the community can join this eff ort in whatever way that they are able. As a team, we will con nue to work on addi onal ways to make a diff erence and know that as a community we will get through this challenging me together.” To assist local businesses during the crisis, the Cardinals made a $100,000 dona on to Local First Arizona, Arizona’s Coronavirus Micro Grant Fund MILLION MEALS DONATION TO LOCAL FOOD BANKS In early April, the Cardinals and State Farm partnered on an historic ini a ve to address a pressing local need arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. The number of people seeking assistance from local food banks more than doubled as a re- sult of the unparalleled crisis. Unfortunately, the number of dona ons to them decreased just as drama cally. As part of their on-going commitment to improve the local community, State Farm and the Cardinals helped tackle the issue by dona ng over a million 1,000,000 meals that were distributed to fi ve non-profi t organiza ons through- out the Valley. Cardinals players and fans nominated their favorite establishments for inclusion on the team’s interac ve statewide map and supported them with take-out business.
