The extremely close final, complicated by the ap- peal involving the two highest-scoring teams in the event, saw the squad of , Bjorn Fallenius, Howard Weinstein, Steve Garner, and finish in the winners’ circle. The final offi- cial score for the Welland team was 31.65. Finishing second was the team of George Jacobs, , Alfredo Versace, , and who finished with 31.19. The Jacobs squad was the high scorer at the end of play but an appeal filed earlier in the second final ses- sion held the official result in limbo until the appeal could be ruled upon. The appellant in the case was the Welland team, the defendant Jacobs. The Welland team won the appeal, moving them into first place while Jacobs dropped to second. Third was the team led by Rose Meltzer (Kyle Larsen, , , and ), who had 31.00 while ’s squad (, and ) was fourth with 30.85. The Reisinger, the premier team event of the Fall NABC, is a three-day contest using board-a-match scor- ing. A large field of 61 teams entered last year’s event.
