Blaheta et al. (photo: T. Krejčí, E. Nováková (2×), Z. This concept effectively fuses the “institutionalisation of regions” theory and the methodologies of behavioural geography. This case study of the perceptual regions of Bohemia and Moravia shows how and why these historical regions and their boundary/boundaries developed, after a significant deinstitutionalisation by splitting into smaller regions in an administrative reform. Many people now perceive the Bohemian-Moravian boundary according to the newly-emerged regional boundaries, which often ignore old (historical) boundaries.

(2004): Germination of seed of Alisma gramineum and its distribution in the Czech Republic. – Preslia, Praha, 76: 97–118. The distribution of Alisma gramineum in the Czech Republic was determined using herbarium specimens, data in the literature and the authors’ own records. Comparison of records from four pe- riods (before 1900, 1901–1945, 1946–1970, 1971–2001) revealed that the total number of localities has not decreased, but the occurrence changed considerably both in terms of the localities and re- gions where the species is found. Abundant populations were observed on exposed shores of water reservoirs. It has colonized the Třeboň Basin, S Bohemia, over the last few decades. Effect of water regime, light/darkness regime and temperature on germination and dormancy was studied. A. gra- mineum is adapted to germinate in water and in the dark; germination occurs in late spring, i.e. a pe- riod of high temperature. The high variation in the germination response to particular environmental factors may be accounted for the irregular occurrence of A.

  • The Development of the Health and Social Care Sector in the Regions of the Czech Republic in Comparison with Other EU Countries
social sciences $€ £ ¥ Article The Development of the Health and Social Care Sector in the Regions of the Czech Republic in Comparison with other EU Countries Erika Urbánková Department of Economic Theories, Faculty of Economics and Management, Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague 16500, Czech Republic; [email protected] Received: 6 April 2019; Accepted: 29 May 2019; Published: 3 June 2019 Abstract: In this paper, the quantitative status of employees in the Health and Social Care sector in the Czech Republic is assessed, and the future development of the sector is predicted both for the Czech Republic as a whole, and for individual regions according to the NUTS3 classification. At present, labor market prognoses are created using the ROA-CERGE model, which includes the main professions in the Health and Social Care sector. This article expands the predictions by adding the regional level and using extrapolation of time series, and it identifies the regions important for the given sector and the labor force. The position of the Czech Republic with regard to selected professions in comparison with other countries of the European Union, i.e., its qualitative status, is also assessed in the paper. The following professions are assessed: general nurses and midwives (both with and without a specialization), physicians, and professional assistants. Healthcare workers do not manifest geographical mobility between regions and work primarily in the region where they live. Since the Czech Republic’s accession to the EU, staff working in key professions have been able to work under comparable conditions in any of the member states. The workforce flow depends, among other things, on its qualitative representation in the given country.

  • JEWISH HERITAGE SITES in South Bohemia
JEWISH HERITAGE SITES in South Bohemia www.jiznicechy.cz JEWISH HERITAGE SITES in South Bohemia There used to be several hundred Jewish communi- ties in Bohemia, each of which had a synagogue or at least a prayer house or room, and a Jewish cemetery. Several dozen such communities existed in South Bohemia as well, but today not a single one remains. Most of their members died during World War II in concentration and extermination camps, whereas many of those who survived emigrated after 1948 or 1968. The South Bohemian Region also falls under the jurisdiction of the Jewish community in Prague, which also manages all Jewish cemeteries and several other preserved South Bohemian Jewish heritage sites. Another problem was that in the second half of the 19th century, many Jews migrated from the villages to the cities. Many rural Jewish communities became extinct and many synagogues were abandoned, some were sold to private individuals and modified for other purposes, and others were purchased by Christian church organizations. Since the Velvet Revolution, some of these have been reconstructed and now serve as museums; in South Bohemia, for example, these are the synagogues in Bechyně, Český Krumlov, and Čkyně. Of the fifty South Bohemian Jewish cemeteries, the rarely preserved Jewish cemetery in Jindřichův Hradec deserves particular attention; it is one of the oldest preserved Jewish cemeteries in the Czech Republic. Destination attractiveness of the South Bohemian region from the viewpoint of spatial data analysis. Deturope, 8, 1: 92-111 Abstract The aim of this paper is the evaluation of the South Bohemia region's destination attractiveness. The dimensionality of data describing the chosen attractions of the area was reduced by the factor analysis into six factors which served as an input for hot spot analysis. The hot spots analysis identifies clusters of high and low values of the factors. Cluster analysis of factor served then as a tool for a typology of the South Bohemian region according to its attractiveness for tourism. The paper shows the possibilities of spatial statistics and spatial data analysis usage in the evaluation of the area attractiveness. Obtained results can be used in the decision sphere for tourism attractions planning. Keywords: destination attractiveness, destination management, hot spots analysis, spatial statistics Abstract Cílem příspěvku je hodnocení destinační atraktivnosti Jižních Čech.

Klápště–Smetánka 1982 a další.
