ERSTE BANK OPEN 500: DAY 7 MEDIA NOTES Sunday, 28 October 2018 Wiener Stadthalle | Vienna, Austria | 22-28 October 2018 Draw: S-32, D-16 | Prize Money: €2,198,250 | Surface: Indoor Hard ATP World Tour Info Tournament Info ATP PR & Marketing ATPWorldTour.com ErsteBank-Open.com Martin Dagahs: [email protected] Twitter: @ATPWorldTour @ErsteBankOpen Press Officer: [email protected] Facebook: @ATPWorldTour @ErsteBankOpen TV & Radio: TennisTV.com ANDERSON, NISHIKORI MEET FOR VIENNA TITLE WITH LONDON IN SIGHT • No. 2 seed Kevin Anderson and No. 5 seed Kei Nishikori will meet in the final of the Erste Bank Open 500 on Sunday, as they continue their quests to lock up singles spots at the Nitto ATP Finals. Anderson would qualify for London if he wins what would be the biggest title of his career. A title for Nishikori would move him to just 125 points outside of the No. 8 position in the Race to London. • Anderson will try to earn the highest-level ATP World Tour singles title of his career, as his four singles championships have all come at ATP World Tour 250 events. This year’s Wimbledon finalist leads the field in aces this week (56) despite receiving a second-round walkover from wild card Jurgen Melzer and having an abbreviated quarter-final match after No. 6 seed Borna Coric retired during the second set. Anderson would clinch his Nitto ATP Finals debut with a win on Sunday. • Nishikori, meanwhile, is searching for his first ATP World Tour singles title since winning at Memphis in 2016. The Japanese star’s title drought spans eight losses in finals, over 32 months and 48 tournament appearances. Nishikori leads the head-to-head against Anderson by 4 wins to 2, but South Africa’s Anderson claimed a narrow victory in their only meeting this year, which took place in the semi-finals of the New York Open en route to Anderson’s sole 2018 title to date. • The doubles final has two teams who claimed semi-final defeats of the Top 2-seeded pairs. World No. 1 Mike Bryan and Edouard Roger-Vasselin, playing only their second event together, made the final by beating Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic, who are No. 1 in the Race to London. Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski, also playing just their second event together, ousted Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo, No. 3 in the Race to London, to make the final. Marach/Pavic and Kubot/Melo have already qualified for London; they will be joined there by Bryan, who qualified with Jack Sock.
