LTO Ultrium 1, 2, 3 and LTO Universal Cleaning Cartridge

ATOMM* Technology Provides Safety, Security for High-Capacity Storage Fujifilm’s LTO 1, 2 and 3 cartridges are another generation of tape technology made possible by Fujifilm’s ATOMM technology. Our Ultrium 1 and Ultrium 2 tape formats have been optimized for high capacity and performance with outstanding reliability in either stand-alone or auto- mated environments. With LTO Ultrium 3, the Fujifilm LTO 1-3 product line ranges from 200GB (compressed) to 800GB (compressed) storage capacity per cartridge, making these products ideal for capacity specific backup and archive applications. Large Storage Capacity and Fast Transfer Speeds High-recording density is a crucial factor in tape capacity. Fujifilm draws on its long experience in precision manu- facturing and has developed tapes that meet the needs of the most demanding applications. Performance is also measured in the time saved accessing critical data. LTO Ultrium 1 tapes deliver data transfer rates of 20-40MB/sec (2:1 compressed mode, 10-20MB native); Ultrium 2 (40-80MB/sec) transfer rates are twice that and the transfer rates for Ultrium 3 (80-160MB/sec) are four times that number.

*ATOMM: Advanced Super Thin Layer and High Output Metal Media 32 Enhanced Reliability and Durability Our exclusive ATOMM technology incorporates a unique ultra-thin dual-coating system that allows for remarkable durability and stability. Fujifilm LTO tapes also include an improved PEN (Polyethylene Naphthalate) substrate that is very stable under changing environmental conditions — an important consideration in a medium that has been designed to withstand years of heavy daily use and extended archival storage.

Precision Servo-Writing Technology The LTO format relies heavily on timing-based, high precision servo control to achieve its remarkable performance levels. Fujifilm LTO cartridges are pre- recorded with a magnetic servo signal at the factory. This signal is required in order to use the cartridge with the Ultrium LTO drive. Fujifilm’s history as a pioneer in innovative servo-writing technologies makes us a natural leader in this field. LTO Universal Cleaning Cartridge Fujifilm LTO Universal Cleaning Cartridges have a computer memory chip (just like the data tape) and can be used on all LTO Ultrium drives. The chip stores various information and it has an embedded code that is recognized by the compatible drive’s firmware. When used to capacity (15 - 50 uses, drive dependent), the drive will refuse the cleaning tape and eject the tape, barring further use.

High-Performance Recording Layer Ensures Wide Power Margins for Top Storage Quality To attain superb storage quality with low error rates, recording with the correct laser power is essential. However, the recording power of the laser can be attenuated by fine dust particles that build up on the lens surface. This results in poorer recording signal quality and more errors, and in the worst cases, the data cannot be read at all. The high-performance recording layer used in Fujifilm’s BD-R/RE discs ensures wide power margins. This means you can make accurate recordings even from a weaker laser.

38 Superior Hard-Coat Layer Protects Your Stored Data A superior hard-coat layer protects the stored data from scratches and fingerprints to ensure reliable data recording and playback.

Break through to Barium Ferrite.

Fujifilm’s LTO Ultrium 6 Barium Ferrite technology opens up the future of data storage. Fujifilm’s patented Barium Ferrite magnetic particle technology dramatically improves recording density while enhancing performance and archival life compared to conventional metal particle tape. Combined with our advanced NANOCUBIC technology, the LTO Ultrium 6 can achieve an amazing recording capacity of 6.25TB (2.5:1 compression ratio) and a transfer rate of 400MB/sec. The Fujifilm LTO 6 with Barium Ferrite delivers higher signal-to-noise ratio for higher capacity, better recording margin and is chemically stable delivering an archival life of over 30 years. With all the eco-friendly attributes of tape, Fujifilm’s new LTO 6 is the future of data storage!

Already recognized by the industry as an enterprise-class tape solution, Fujifilm NANOCUBIC technology combines nano-scale particles, a unique dual-coating process and advanced dispersion techniques to achieve an ultra-thin magnetic layer that pro- duces higher resolution for recording digital data, ultra-low noise and high signal-to-noise ratios that are ideal for Magneto-Resistive and Giant Magneto-Resistive heads. Fujifilm’s newest generation tape storage media applies NANOCUBIC technology to barium-ferrite particles, a naturally stable crystalline particle that does not corrode or change chemically over time, making it an optimal particle for data storage applications. Due to the crystalline anisotropy, the ultra-fine barium-ferrite particles have high coercivity for superior performance high density recording. The unique Fujifilm NANOCUBIC technology coats the barium-ferrite particles in a very uniform manner (with thickness variation of less than 10 percent across the length of the tape), resulting in a much smoother magnetic surface to significantly enhance performance.
