Springtime. Fred and Mick, two old friends now approaching eighty, are on vacation together in an elegant hotel at the foot of the Alps. Fred, a composer and conductor, is now retired. Mick, a film director, is still working. The two friends know that their time is quickly running out, and they decide to face their future together. They look with curiosity and tenderness on their children’s confused lives, Mick’s enthusiastic young writers, and the other hotel guests, all of whom, it seems, have all the time that they lack. And while Mick scrambles to finish the screenplay for what he imagines will be his last important film, Fred, who gave up his musical career long ago, has no intention of returning to it. But someone wants at all costs to hear his compositions and to see him conduct again.

Drama © Steffan Hill SUFFRAGETTE DIRECTOR CAST Sarah Gavron (Brick Lane) Carey Mulligan (Drive, Shame, The Great Gatsby) Helena Bonham-Carter (The King’s Speech, Les Miserables) SCREENPLAY Brendan Gleeson (The Guard, In Bruges, The Gangs of New York) Abi Morgan (Brick Lane, Shame, The Iron Lady) Anne Marie Duff (Nowhere Boy, The Last Station) PRODUCERS Ben Whishaw (Skyfall, Paddington) Alison Owen (Brick Lane, Saving Mr. Banks) Meryl Streep (Out of Africa, The Devils Wears Prada, The Iron Lady) Faye Ward (Brick Lane, Saving Mr. Banks)

SUFFRAGETTE is a thrilling drama that tracks the story of the foot soldiers of the early feminist movement, women who were forced underground to pursue a dangerous game of cat and mouse with an increasingly brutal State. These women were not primarily from the genteel educated classes, they were working women who had seen peaceful protest achieve nothing. Radicalized and turning to violence as the only route to change, they were willing to lose everything in their fight for equality - their jobs, their homes, their children and their lives. MAUD was one such foot soldier. The story of her fight for dignity is as gripping and visceral as any thriller, it is also heart-breaking and inspirational.

Caroline, a Parisian aged around 40, arrives in a sleepy valley on the Black Mountain, southwest France. She has cut short her family vacation to organize the funeral of her mother, Isabelle, who has died suddenly. They were not close. Caroline is greeted by Pattie, also in her forties, and who looks after Isabelle’s house. Around these parts, folk get by on not very much, but they seem to have a lot of fun – especially at this time of year when village dances are held as part of the summer tradition. Caroline had planned on leaving the next day, but then her mother’s body mysteriously disappears. The gendarmes investigate, exploring the most outlandish theories. Meanwhile, Pattie gives Caroline some detailed, ribald accounts of her many passionate encounters at the local dances. Caroline finds herself immersed in another world, one which resembles the fairy tales that make little girls dream, or else scare the hell out of them.
