HOLLY AMONG THE ELITE--Greg Holland worked a scoreless ninth in a non-save situation on Wednesday in Minnesota...his last save was a week ago tonight and he enters tonight second in the A.L. with 23, one behind Fernando Rodney...a first time All-Star in 2013, Holland has made good on 63 of his last 65 (96.9%) since May 30 of last season, the second-highest percentage among closers with at least 40 opportunities in that span...only Huston Street (97.8%), who has converted 44 of his last 45, has a higher percentage...since that date, Greg has three more saves than any other pitcher in baseball (Craig Kimbrel - 60) and has allowed just 11 earned runs in 83.2 innings for a 1.18 ERA. WADING THROUGH THE OPPOSITION--Wade Davis worked a scoreless eighth inning on Wednesday in Minnesota, fanning a pair, his third straight shutout inning after being scored upon on June 25 by the Dodgers which was the first time he’d allowed a run since April 23...he is the only pitcher in the Majors with more than 12 appearances that hasn’t allowed an extra-base hit this season...Davis now has 34 appearances and 36.2 innings...he has allowed just one run in his last 26.1 innings for a shiny 0.34 ERA in that span...since surrendering a season-high 2 earned runs back on April 5, Wade has given up only two runs over his last 30 outings (32.1 innings) for a 0.56 ERA with opponents hitting just .110 (12-for-109) while fanning 54.
