2015 Citizens for Space Exploration D.C. Trip - May 19-21, 2015 Trip Summary The 2015 DC Trip was a success and helped advance support for human space exploration and demonstrate a large, grassroots constituency for space exploration. The 24th annual trip included 95 travelers (we had 104 in ‘14 and 97 in ‘13) representing 23 states who conducted a record 376 congressional office visits (up from 354 in ’14). The diverse group of travelers included elected officials, 32 university students majoring in engineering or related technical fields of study, industry representatives and community leaders. The Congressional reception was well attended and included remarks from 8 Members of Congress and attended by over 50 staffers. A few interesting statistics from our surveys: • 82% House visits, 18% Senate. • 96% were “very engaged” or “moderately engaged” in the meeting. • 121 staffers had visited a NASA center and /or seen a launch. • 81% of staffers were “very knowledgeable” or “somewhat knowledgeable” about NASA’s exploration programs. • 84% of staffers were “very knowledgeable” or “somewhat knowledgeable” about the benefits derived from the space program – Education was mentioned in 72% of meetings, economic benefits in 40%, spinoffs in 45%, and exploration/discovery in 36%. • Major concerns discussed were competing budget demands and geopolitical issues (Russia and China). • 58% of visits were considered “very supportive” and 21% “somewhat supportive” of human space exploration. • Very few expressed a preference between an asteroid or lunar approach to a Mars mission. • NASA benefits that resonated well (in ranked order): Education, spinoffs, economic benefits, exploration/discovery, medical, U.S. leadership, and national defense.

Austin Bank October 3, 2012 Federal Reserve Board RE: Basel III Docket No. 1442 Ladies and Gentlemen: I am writing to oppose the new proposed Basel III standards. I am also asking that community banks be exempt. Frankly, the whole proposal should be examined for the unintended consequences. I feel the Basel III Proposal will cause an artificial credit crunch in our area and around the country, here is why: In Cherokee County, where we are domiciled, the average home purchased/for sale is $120,000. Right now, our bank could potentially make $1 billion in 1-4 multi-family mortgage loans with existing risk weights. Let's take a look at the impact: If the risk rating = 50%, $1 billion ÷ $120,000 = 8,333 loans made If the risk rating = 100%, $1 billion ÷ $120,000 = 4,167 loans - a reduction of 4,166 loans And if, the rating = 200%, as proposed, $1 billion ÷ 2,083 loans! - a reduction of 6.250 loans Our banks will lose the ability to make loans and our capital would be drastically reduced. With Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae out of the equation, this will further lead to a "rationing of loans" I am asking you to delay or suspend the new rules associated with the Basel III Proposal. Our industry depends on your support - so do the millions of consumers across the country. Please do not hamper community banks from doing what they do best - making loans in their communities. Respectfully.signed. Jeff Austin, III Vice Chairman CC: Eric Sandberg, Texas Bankers Association Frank Keating, American Bankers Association Congressman Jeb Hensarling Congressman Louie Gohmert Congressman Randy Neugebauer Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison Senator John Cornyn 200 E.

In fall 1989 I took an interim assignment to revive the African American Studies Program. I did that continuously through fall 1990, which was for 3 semesters and a summer. In 1991 I was appointed interim Vice President for Student Affairs and, later that year, Vice President for Student Affairs. In l998 the Vice Chancellorâs title was added. In March 2011 I physically moved into my current office as Vice President for Community Relations & Institutional Access. At no time in any of these positions have I been involved, directly or indirectly, in securing Congressional earmarks for the University of Houston, nor have my duties and responsibilities in any way involved securing Congressional earmarks.

  • Jeb Hensarling
Jeb Hensarling Jeb Hensarling recently completed an eight-term career in the U.S. Congress including three terms as Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, one of congress’ most important committees, with jurisdiction over a broad swath of the nation’s economy including banking, securities, insurance, housing and monetary policy. As chairman, The Los Angeles Times said Hensarling was “a pivotal player in the GOP effort to reduce financial regulation in the Trump era” and the Wall Street Journal referred to him as “[the driver] of economic policy in the House.” Hensarling shepherded over 80 bills into law including the Economy Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection Act, widely recognized as the most pro-growth banking bill in a generation, as well as the JOBS 2.0 legislation which helps startups and early growth companies access capital. Called a “major figure in the Republican Party,” Hensarling was chosen by his colleagues to serve in key leadership positions throughout his congressional career. He was elected House Republican Conference Chairman in the 112th Congress, the 4th highest ranking position in the Republican Leadership, where he was responsible for helping coordinate strategy, policy, messaging and communications for House Republicans. In the 110th Congress he led the Republican Study Committee, Congress’ largest caucus and the one dedicated to advancing conservative free market principles. His leadership in these positions caused the National Journal to write, “Hensarling is as politically savvy as they come.” In recognition of his economic policy expertise, Hensarling was appointed to serve on the Congressional Oversight Panel for TARP, our nation’s response to the 2009 financial crisis, the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform and as the Co-chair of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction.
