Carrier Oils SWEET ALMOND OIL 100% Pure Almond Oil is a natural oil that’s perfect for nourishing and reviving any skin type. Given the economical interest of this oil, several attempts of fraudulency have been registered in the world global market leading to loss of authenticity. Our purpose is to launch a program of Tunisian Argan oil valorization since trees from this species have been introduced sixty years ago in Tunisia. The first step was thus to characterize the physicochemical properties and determine the chemical composition of Tunisian Argan oil in order to assess its quality. Methods: Physicochemical parameters of oil quality were determined according to the international standard protocols. Fatty acid content analysis of Argan oils was performed by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrophotometry. A comparative study was realized among Tunisian, Moroccan and Algerian samples differing also by their extraction procedure. The impact of geographical localisation on the fatty acids composition was studied by statistical and modeling Bayesian analyses. Results: Physicochemical parameters analysis showed interestingly that Tunisian Argan oil could be classified as extra virgin oil. Argan oil is mainly composed by unsaturated fatty acids (80%), mainly oleic and linoleic acid (linoleic acid was positively influenced by the geographical localization (r =0.899,p = 0.038) and the P/S index (r =0.987,p =0.002)) followed by saturated fatty acids (20%) with other beneficial compounds from the unsaponifiable fraction like polyphenols and carotenoids.

First let’s get some definitions for commonly used terms on labels and discussions about oils. Term Definition Cold Pressed Extracted without using heat. Extracted using a screw-type machine that presses the oil out. Can be done Expeller Pressed slowly, with very little heat, or can be done quickly with lots of friction and high temperatures. The first cold pressing which contains the best tasting and most healthful oils. Must contain less than 1% acids. By definition, this is cold-pressed and first Extra Virgin pressed, so don’t need to see these terms on the label. Must say 100% extra virgin, or may be a blend. The first cold pressing, but can contain a little more acids than the extra-virgin Virgin (1-3 percent). Harper, Ph.D., Consultant Abstract Previous literature shows that jojoba oil and jojoba oil derivatives have multiple skin benefits associated with anti-inflammation, barrier function, and skin hydration. The current research explores the action of Jojoba Esters with different melting points on the improvement of barrier function after sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) insult, reduction of barrier disruption when applied prior to SLS insult, and on skin hydration as compared to known petrolatum-alternatives. In addition, a consumer preference study was carried out comparing Jojoba Esters with a known marketed petrolatum alternative ingredient. The data show that Jojoba Esters have the capability of reducing damage to the skin barrier, as measured by TEWL, in a dose dependent manner, and can accelerate the recovery of the SLS damaged skin barrier. The data also show that the Jojoba Esters, when added to a vehicle formula, produced statistically significant increases in skin hydration when compared to the vehicle and to the marketed petrolatum-alternative ingredients formulated in the same vehicle. Moreover, the formula containing the Jojoba Esters produced levels of skin hydration that were not statistically significantly different from 10% petrolatum formulated into the same vehicle. Additionally, the consumer preference study showed that the subjects preferred the Jojoba Esters formula over the petrolatum alternative ingredient formula with regard to skin moistness, suppleness, and smoothness/softness as well as stickiness and residue of the formulas immediately after application.

Oleic acid is the main fatty acid in the oil; they constitute between 50 and 65% of the total fatty acids. The study of the unsaponifiable fraction revealed that avocado oil contains 3259.9–5378.8 mg/kg sterols and 113.13– 332.17 mg/kg tocopherols. Chemo-metric tools were employed in manner optimization, such as principal component analysis, agglomerative hierarchical clustering, analysis of variance, and classification trees using Chi-squared Automatic Interaction Detector. Chemo-metric tools revealed a difference in the composition of fatty acid, sterols, and tocopherol of avocado oil samples. This difference resulted from a variety of avocado fruits. Agglomerative Hierarchical Clustering (AHC) method was efficient distinguishing avocado oil samples based on fruit variety using fatty acids, tocopherols, sterol compositions and total sterol.
