Job Title Outside School Hours Care – Coordinator Classification Level 6 Grade 5 Work Unit Nemarluk School Responsible to: Nemarluk School Council

Primary Objective To provide coordination of an inclusive, flexible and quality Outside School Hours Care Program for children with disability.

Context Statement The Out Of School Hours Care Program is overseen by Nemarluk School Council. Nemarluk School is a special school that caters for students with moderate and severe intellectual and/or multiple disability who are aged from 3½ to 12 years. Families are integral to successful partnerships.

Key Responsibilities 1. Lead a team to provide stimulating, age appropriate developmental, social and recreational after school hours activities for children with disability. 2. Manage all OSHC administration including staff recruitment and relief, day to day financial management utilizing Child Care Management System and compliance with Child Care Benefit, as well as consumable and resource purchase and replacement. 3. Provide leadership and professional development to OSHC staff. 4. Communicate effectively with parents, team members, and the school leadership team while maintaining confidentiality. 5. Attend and provide monthly reports to School Council. 6. Follow the school’s management strategies in regard to OHS, wellbeing and behaviour. 7. Establish, maintain, store and review appropriate records, policies and systems that guarantee a high level of duty of care and compliance to the National Quality Framework. 8. Administer first aid and attend to sick students, as necessary.

Selection Criteria Essential 1. Demonstrated successful experience working with and ability to relate effectively with children who have severe intellectual and/or multiple and profound disabilities. 2. Proven ability to work successfully with and lead a small team. 3. Proven high level of oral and written communication skills, including Information and Communication Technologies. 4. Demonstrated ability to work with initiative and with limited supervision and to maintain complete confidentiality. 5. Demonstrated knowledge of augmentative communication strategies. 6. A current First Aid Certificate.

Desirable 1. The ability and willingness to obtain a LR (Light Rigid) Drivers Licence. 2. Knowledge of legislation applying to services and people who have disabilities. 3.
