DLI RELEASES 2007 STREETSMART STREET DIRECTORY
The Department of Land Information’s (DLI), Chief Executive Officer Grahame Searle has welcomed the publication of the 2007 StreetSmart Perth Street Directory.
This latest edition with its distinctive cover depicting the city’s night skyline, contains a comprehensive amount of new and detailed information about metropolitan Perth and its neighbouring areas, Mr Searle said.
“ Continued growth in these areas has seen more than 1200 new roads added to the directory, including the extension of the Roe Highway to meet with the Kwinana Freeway,” he said.
“There are also 20 new map pages of extended coverage for the localities of Muchea and Lower Chittering to the north, and Baldivis, Hopeland, Karnup and Keysbrook to the south.”
“A new feature of this year’s directory is the inclusion of maps of the Perth Bicycle Network, which has been provided by the Department for Planning and Infrastructure,” Mr Searle said.
As usual the StreetSmart Street Directory has useful regional approach maps showing roads and tracks leading in and out of the Perth metropolitan area as far away as Lancelin in the North and Bunbury to the South.
Fully indexed maps of major WA regional town centres such as Albany, Bunbury, Geraldton and Kalgoorlie-Boulder have also been included in the 48th edition.
There are enlarged maps of Perth, Fremantle, Mandurah, Rottnest, Subiaco Oval, Perth Convention Centre, Perth Zoo and major educational and health campuses The directory also has a variety of additional information such as the location of emergency services levy boundaries, water-skiing areas, tactile traffic lights and petrol/autogas stations.
Perth’s first street directory was published by the then Department of Lands in 1944. In those early years it was updated on an irregular basis, but, since 1968, it has been published annually.
Today, the StreetSmart Street Directory is published by West Australian Newspapers Ltd, using DLI’s most up-to-date maps. (Release ends)
