In the field of 34 education, WebbCraft Family Foundation seeks to provide support 35 for programs or projects that offer opportunities for individuals to 36 advance intellectually; in the domains of the arts and culture, its 37 goal is to support programs and organizations that create 38 educational opportunities and increase awareness in arts and 39 culture. In addition, WebbCraft supports scholarship programs for 40 individuals who demonstrate a financial need and a desire to 41 further their education; and 42

[4023] 2 1 Whereas, rooted in the Webb and Craft families’ longtime family 2 legacy of caring, compassion, and community rootedness, 3 WebbCraft Family Foundation was created to honor that legacy 4 through grants that help take care of family, neighbors, and 5 community; and 6 7 Whereas, WebbCraft’s first grant, a $10,000 gift, was awarded to 8 the Honea Path Chiquoia Pool Project. This gift helped the pool to 9 continue serving the community. Since that time, grants have been 10 awarded supporting ventures as diverse as school field trips to 11 Washington, D.C., organic gardens and an amphitheatre at local 12 elementary schools, and a concert held at Dogwood Park for 13 Honea Path’s one hundred fiftieth anniversary; and 14 15 Whereas, this year, the organization has approved eleven grants 16 totaling $95,345, bringing the total number of grants approved 17 since its founding to two hundred ninetyeight and the total outlay 18 of funds to $2 million; and 19 20 Whereas, the members of the General Assembly recognize that the 21 success of the State of South Carolina, the strength of its 22 communities, and the vitality of American society as a whole 23 depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of individuals like 24 Joy Craft and Jerry Craft who use their talents and resources to 25 serve others. Now, therefore, 26 27 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 28 concurring: 29 30 That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this 31 resolution, honor Joy Craft, founder of WebbCraft Family 32 Foundation, and Jerry Craft, its executive director, for their 33 outstanding work as benefactors to the Belton and Honea Path 34 communities through WebbCraft Family Foundation. 35 36 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to 37 Joy Craft and Jerry Craft. 38 XX 39
