 Database Unloads

The unloads of the databases to NMC's due for issuein May will be issued in late May/early June. These unloads will include:

 High speed data including SCRIM from the latest survey;  Traffic and loading counts and estimates as at 31 December 2002; and  Maintenance costs.

Our NMC’s require this data for dTIMS modelling.

Before we can unload data from our databases:

1. we will apply the equilibrium seasonal correction to skid resistance data; 2. Regional staff need to input traffic and loading estimates as at 31 December 2002; 3. we will load maintenance cost data; and 4. we will populate the falling weight deflectometer tables with new structural numbers.  Skid Resistance – Which Columns to Use

All maintenance and programming decisions related to SCRIM data are to be based on ESC values. The consequence of this is that for maintenance and programming the columns ESC (L), ESC(R) and Skid ESC RV are to be used. (RV means reporting value).

 Traffic and Loading

Congratulations to Carolyn Sinclair and Ken Holst in our Napier Office for completing the traffic and loading estimates in their Region. So far they are the only ones to do so. For the others, please complete this as soon as possible.

 Maintenance Costs

Congratulations to the following areas for supplying maintenance costs up to the end of March on time:

Nelson, Marlborough, North Canterbury, Buller, Westland, Otago Central and Southland.

We have not received any maintenance cost data up for the period October to December 2002 from the following areas:

East Waikato, West Waikato, Central Waikato, BoP, Tauranga, Rotorua, PSMC, East Wanganui, West Wanganui, Wellington and Coastal Otago.

We have not received any maintenance cost data at all from Coastal Otago for the 2002/2003 financial year.

Area Engineers, please ensure that maintenance cost data in your area is completely up to date.

 Inventory Updates

Congratulations to those of you involved with providing us resurfacing data from Buller, Grey-Westland and Nelson. Please send in your resurfacing data and AWT data as soon as possible as you will need it for dTIMS modelling and preparation of your 04/05 Annual Plan!

If you have inventory data that you want sent out in the database unload please ensure that it arrives at National Office by Friday 23 May.

 LRMS

We are still in the process of finalising the software integration. No significant regional input is will be required until late 2003/early 2004. Philip Blagdon, the LRMS Administrator is on leave overseas and will return in October.

 RAMM2003

NZIHT is running courses on RAMM2003 in association with CJN Technologies. We encourage you to attend one of these, especially if you have not been on a RAMM2002 course. For further details please contact NZIHT (Ph (06) 759-7065.

 Conclusion

Items to Remember

 The May database unloads will be sent in late May and early June.  If you are in our Regions, please help complete the entry of traffic estimates if you have not already done so.  Please not the columns in the skid resistance table to be used for maintenance and programming.  Please send resurfacing and AWT data as soon as possible.  Please send inventory data for the next unload to National Office by Friday 23 May.  We encourage you to attend a ‘Working With RAMM2003’ course.
