o To help heal a continent and make a real impact
How can we imagine a world with no malaria when we thought we already lived in one?
o Malaria is not something we encounter on a daily basis
o Kills child in Africa every 60 seconds
o 1 in 5 children do not reach their 5th birthday
o Opportunity to save lives
Mission of hope—not death
o What can we do in our lifetime to eliminate malaria?
Malaria is a disease of poverty
o Malaria is preventable, treatable, and beatable with our support
Imagine No Malaria is comprehensive effort to obtain a sustainable victory over malaria
o Different from Nothing But Nets, which was just nets and prevention.
o INM is: prevention, treatment, education, and communication
INM is an effort of the global United Methodist Church:
o UMC and many of our churches are divided over issues today
o Global UMC is united for a unifying, life-saving ministry
o UMC is partnering with United Nations Foundation, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Global Fund to fight death from malaria
INM does not compete with your church’s existing ministries: It ignites vital congregations to have open doors
o Doors of ministry and passion that will remain open beyond INM for your church Just $10 saves a life!
o All generations in church can be involved and have the power to save lives
o Think of how easily you spend $10
o Consider your opportunity to use same $10 to save a life
Holston Conference is committed to saving 100,000 lives
o At $10 a life, the Conference will raise $1 million to support Imagine No Malaria
We have an opportunity to join together to transform lives as Christ has called us to do
Ephesians 3:20 “God can do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine.”
