Tell us about your involvement with IYPF to date: Ever since meeting an IYPF member in Baku, AZ, I have been excited about IYPF. I have consulted with Rosen on multiple strategic initiatives and have been working with him to expand international correspondence and developing our IYPF North American network.

How do you see yourself contributing to achieving IYPF’sgoals? I see myself contributing my passion, technical expertise, and deep understanding of new youg professionals to IYPF. In particular, I see myself as a resource for education and dialogue initiatives. In my experience, it is always difficult to engage individuals to a cause. After all, everyone has so many time commitments, the challenge is less one of making the step of them appreciating that this organization is a good organization but rather one that is worth a significant time and monetary investment. From this perspective, in many ways, the greatest thing that IYPF can do to retain members and engage more members is to provide members with a sense of value from their involvement in the organization. I think this would be a great point to brainstorm on how to make people feel that they are adding value. Due to the nature of the organization, my guess is that a lot of this value-added will come from a sense of mission and accomplishment, and that those who feel the greatest award and tangible effects of the IYPF mission will be most involved. Furthermore, if we can provide incentives structures that offer additional personal value, such as professional training or networking opportunities, this will help engage members. Still, in guiding our efforts, it will be helpful to know what incentivizes current involvement, and we can explore whether these are things that we can replicate at scale. Therefore, it would be great to conduct a member-wide motivational survey. Also, in terms of broadening outreach, i think that we are best off focusing on a few narrow high-profile campaigns. If we can reach people through a meaningful, high-impact campaign; this will not only give high exposure and brand appreciation, but also connect us with a concrete issue. These issues should be focused and specific--for example, a campaign to raise human rights awareness in Nigeria (this just one off the top of my head, this would be another good board discussion). Regarding the Job’N’Coop app, I am less optimistic. I think that it is a nice idea, but I struggle to see the mass impact at scale. I feel like the newcomer and don't want to be a naysayer and maybe i just don't understand, but in terms of long- term actionable impact, I don't see this as necessarily the best venue. If our goal is alleviating unemployment, I think that establishing a network of individuals is a great first step, but if I am unemployed in Guinea, that won't help me if there's a coop in Argentina (unless we are fostering transnational training services). My inclination is to stress the networking part, provide even a forum for cooperation and international expertise, and then also heavily stress career development training and advice. This is not to say I oppose the app development, but if i am wearing my strategic hat, I become a little skeptical. Tell us why the IYPF membership should elect you to the Board of Directors.

Ensure financial and operational governance are strengthened continuously and trusted support platform is built to promote IYPF’s objectives of informing, inspiring and equipping young professionals as sustainability practitioners and social change agents.

I also would like to propose some of the initiatives to achieve IYPFs goals -

 Conduct training and awareness on sustainability practices through innovative learning methodologies to both corporations and young professionals (self-paced learning/e-learning or partner with education institution) - Learning Centre

 Implement program which will create awareness of social responsibility among youths through seminars, lectures and discussion groups across regions and also serves as mentorship centre (eg: what should new graduate or student do to serve society? Who shall they seek guidance from in case of volunteering? Do they know how to get mentorship) (Mentorship Centre)

 Build online global platform which will bridge corporations with the young professionals who would be willing to take part in social activities based on their areas of interest. (globally scalable – Cloud platform)

 Leverage best practices of one region to other (for eg, Not for profit governance practices could be leveraged to India (i.e volunteering skills), similarly mandatory legal requirement of contributing to social objectives in India could be promoted to other regions) – Globally scalable “best practice sharing”

 Partner with industry leading bodies, government organizations and corporations to promote young professionals as sustainability practitioners and social change agents (region wise) – Environment support Tell us why the IYPF membership should elect you to the Board of Directors.
