TEDxUTSC 2018 (operating under the TED license) will, once again, bring the same TED-like experience to the UTSC community, as live speakers will come to spark deep discussion and connection in the community. This local, independently organized event will provide a platform for the community’s sharpest visionaries to inspire and captivate the Toronto and global population through promoting the dissemination of “ideas worth spreading”. In line with this mandate, the talks will be streamed live and later uploaded to the TEDx page as well as YouTube for the world to see.

By joining the TEDxUTSC Associate team, you are partaking in a long-lasting legacy - a mission to unite ideas worth spreading where tomorrow is created, and where yesterday’s ideas are continued.

Job Description

As a TEDxUTSC Associate you will lead the efforts in engaging the audience at events and all promotions related tasks for the conference. You will become the expert in executing all the needed ins and outs for the day of the event and become the go-to person for all the minute details. We are looking for those who are highly organized, eager to learn, and able to interact with TEDxUTSC’s audience.

Key Responsibilities:  Providing technical, administrative, marketing and other department-specific support.  Working with other teammates to gather feedback and revises work accordingly.  Adhering to branding standards.

Required Qualifications:  Must be a University of Toronto student for the school year of 2017-2018.  Excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task, and attention to detail.  Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate ideas effectively with fellow students and external bodies.  Ability to work independently as well as in a large team.  Flexibility among weekly schedule to assist with the preparation and execution of events and to attend meetings.  Actively engaged with the TEDxUTSC community and shows strong commitment to the group. Once you have finished reading the roles and responsibilities of each department, please indicate which department you would like to assist. Marketing and Communications – This is the department of TEDxUTSC that develops the brand via social media marketing, online, and in person methods. All of TEDxUTSC’s events, posters, videos, and designs you see are put forth and supported by the Marketing and Communications team.

Program Development – The slogan of this department is “we are the talk.” The Program Development team finds and trains different groups of speakers to achieve their strongest potential on conference day. This team is in charge of reaching out to potential speakers, communicating with them, developing their talks, and supporting them on conference day as well as leading up to the conference.

Conference Development – This department is in charge of conference day logistics. However, this logistic process is not exclusive to conference day. The Conference Development team ensures performers are secured and well-rehearsed, sponsors are set for the conference, rooms are booked and prepared, food is ready to go, and technical productions are set to ensure an amazing show.
