I. Establishment The Western Illinois University Foundation will hereby establish a lecture series account per the terms of this agreement, to become effective on such date as the minimum funding requirements for an endowed lecture series have been received and accepted by the Foundation. This lecture series fund has been established by [DONOR(S)]. [Insert a sentence or two about the donors and history with WIU.]

II. Purpose, Criteria, and Eligibility The purpose of this lecture series is to [write in what type of lecture series it is.]

III. Funding This commitment will be paid: __(X)_____ in full by [Date] __(X)_____ in ______(Payroll, Monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually) ___ installments of $______over ______years.

Once the endowment is fully funded and there are sufficient earnings to host the lecture, the lecture series will be held. The endowment can receive further contributions from the donor, or others, designated for this purpose.

IV. Investment All contributions to this lecture series fund may, for investment purposes, be merged with any of the investment assets of the Western Illinois University Foundation, but these gifts shall be entered in the Foundation’s books and records as endowment contributions for the scholarship. The distributed income shall be used for purposes authorized by this agreement. The investment, management, and expenditure of all funds shall be in accordance with WIU Foundation and University policies and procedures.

V. Selection Selection of the speaker year shall be made by the [specify department, college or scholarship office] at Western Illinois University.

VI. Amount and Terms of the Income Fund Based on the availability of funds, the income can be used to host the lecture including costs such as [Short Lecture Name] Agreement Page 2 of 3 honorarium, travel for the speaker, venue expenses, etc. The principal of the endowment will be retained in perpetuity.

VII. Administration The Executive Officer of the WIU Foundation, or his or her designee, shall be the administrator of this fund. Expenditures relating to this fund shall be subject to WIU Foundation accounting procedures and guidelines.

VIII. Amendment This agreement may be amended by the mutual consent of the Western Illinois University Foundation and [DONORS] during his/her lifetime, or his/her designees.

If changed circumstances should at some future time cause the continuation of this lecture series to be inappropriate or impractical, and the donor is either not living or not able to consent to an amendment, then the WIU Foundation may redesignate the purpose of the endowment constituting this lecture series, and the income therefrom, providing that the fund shall continue to bear the aforementioned name and the amended terms shall adhere as closely as possible to the donor’s original intent for this fund.
