MEDEN MEDICAL SERVICES MINUTES OF PATIENT FOCUS GROUP MEETING HELD 11TH SEPTEMBER 2013 AT 4.00PM AT MEDEN VALE MEDICAL CENTRE

Special Meeting held to discuss the following items:

 Mission Statement  Annual General Meeting  Patient Survey  Open Day

Since meeting called item ‘On-Line Booking’ added to Agenda

1. On-Line Booking: Practice is looking at system to allow patients to book limited number of on-line GP appointments in advance. Volunteers required from the group to log onto our website to book ‘virtual appointments’ to see how system works and feedback to practice. WS volunteered herself and her husband to pilot the scheme.

2. Mission Statement: Members of the group had all been sent copies of information obtained by JB to peruse prior to the meeting. Information was also taken from National Patient Participation Group (NAPP) website giving overall guidance in setting up a Mission Statement handed out to those present. Group agreed in general with contents. Agreed that the NAPP information is extensive and should be sent to all group members to peruse and for feedback to be discussed at the next meeting, i.e. what to include in Patient Focus Group Mission Statement, is there anything in the information that you are not happy to be included, is there something you have thought of that is not shown in the information obtained. 4. Patient Survey: As discussed at previous meetings it is felt that survey should be information based covering all aspects of health care needs i.e. ‘Are you aware…..’ Please think of any questions you would like included in the survey. ACTION: To be discussed at next meeting *see below

5. Open Day: SATURDAY, 2ND NOVEMBER 2013. 10.00am – 12 noon. Fundraising to buy new spirometry equipment to help with breathing checks for asthma and COPD patients. **see below

a. Health orientated theme b. Raising funds for spirometry equipment - ? possible demo or info to be made available on the day to show patients what we are aiming for c. Promotion of event by use of posters/Warsop News/flyers d. Usual stalls e. Raffle & Tombola prizes – letter of introduction prepared to enable members to approach local business for prizes. If anyone would like additional copies please contact Moira. f. Hamper(s) – to be displayed at both sites well in advance of date of open day (a) to promote Open Day and (b) to sell raffle tickets prior to the day itself. Draw to take place at Open Day. We would appreciate any items for the hamper(s) as soon as possible so that they can be displayed in advance of the Open Day. g. Volunteers required on the day to help set up, help during the day and clearing up afterwards

6. Any Other Business:

 Chair attended meeting recently to which representatives of local patient groups were invited to help promote good practice and communication between them but, unfortunately, the event was poorly attended. Chair felt that due to lack of response it may be an idea which may fail to materialise.

Dates of next meetings:

 * Open Day: Meeting arranged for Friday, 18th October at 10.00am at Warsop Health Centre to make final arrangements (please note: date changed from 17th October due to room availability)

 ** General meeting arranged for Wednesday, 13th November at 4.00pm at Meden Vale Medical Centre to discuss these items further
