TOUR ITINERARY: Douala – Kribi – Campo Ma’an - Buea – Kumba – Korup-Nyassoso – Bamenda - Limbe – Douala.

DAY (1) 2nd December 2016  Arrival at Douala international airport, reception by guide, brief description of Cameroon, proper explanation of tour, dinner and night at Foyer du Marine. DAY (2) 3rd December 2016  Early wake up, birding on the Douala/Yaounde highway on some ponds for Hartlaub’s Duck and the River Sanaga for African Skimmers, Grey- Pratincole in the early part of the morning and continue to Campo Ma’an where we get to the site for the Rock fowl. We hike to the Red-headed Picathartes site and after spend the night at a lodge. Day (3) 4th December 2016  Early birding in Campo Ma’an before lunch, after lunch we drive back along the coast road to watch for Marine turtle and drive to Buea via the sea side town of Kribi, arrive Buea and spend the night at the Eta Palace hotel or the Capitol Hotel. DAY (4) 5th December 2016  Early wake up and go birding the whole day on Mount Cameroon. Expect to see African Grey Parrots, Mount Cameroon Francolin, Yellow- billed Turaco, Fernando Po Olive back, Mount Cameroon Speirops, Yellow Breasted Boubou, Mountain Robin Chat, Mountain Saw-wing, Western Mountain Greenbul and others. We’ll also keep an ear out for Red-chested Flufftail though it is seldom seen. Return by 4.00pm and drive to Kumba at dusk, dinner and night at Vianello Hotel. DAY (5) 6th December 2016  Early wake up for breakfast then do some birding at the Barombi Mbo Lake before lunch continuing to Mundemba (note that the roads will be rough and dusty). We shall get to Mundemba by evening, have dinner and night will be spent at Boseme inn. DAY (6) 7th December  Early breakfast then we go to the Mana foot bridge where we will do some birding and continue to the Rengo camp (Be prepared for a long distance forest walk 8km to get there). Expected to see African Grey Parrot, Rock Pratincole, Hadada Ibisis, Grey Heron, Great Blue Turaco, Bare-cheeked Trogon, Brown Illadopsis, Great Blue Turaco, Brown Chested Alethe, Red-bellied Paradise Flycatcher, Western Black-Headed Oriole, Yellow Bellied Wattle-eye, Rufous Flycatcher Thrush and many more. After lunch we bird along the track to visit the Red-headed Picathartes knoll, if we’ve missed it at Campo Ma’an. We move in quietly to see if the Rock fowl is there and return to the camp for dinner and night. There should be a chance for some night birding including Vermiculated Fishing-Owl and Brown Nightjar. DAY (7) 8th December 2016  The next day we wake up, have breakfast and do some birding on our way back to the bridge by noon where a stand by vehicle will take us to Nyassoso where we will spend the night in the women’s center. Again there might be a chance for some night birding around here for Fraser’s Eagle-Owl or Red-chested Owlet and a possible nightjar. DAY (8) 9th December 2016  Early wake up, breakfast and go birding the whole day on Mount Kupe and return by evening. Expected to see; Bar-tailed Trogon, Spotted Greenbul, Chestnut wattle-eye, Brown-Crowned Eremomela, White- Spotted Flufftail, Black-throated Apalis, Red-eyed Puffback, Yellow Longbill, Red-Necked Buzzard, Mount Kupe Bush Shrike, Purple- throated Cuckoo-Shrike, Grey Parrot, Yellow Breasted Boubou, Grey- headed Broadbill and many more. DAY (9) 10th December 2016  Early morning birding and continuation to Bamenda via Bandjoun Palace for the Museum and spend the night in Bafoussam at Golden City Hotel. DAY (10) 11th December 2016  Breakfast and drive to Foumban where we will visit the Sultan’s Palace. We will have to drive to Bamenda by late afternoon and spend the night at the Mondial Park Hotel. DAY (11) 12th December 2016  Early breakfast, drive to the Mankon Secret forest for birding and after lunch visit the Bafut Palace for some cultural activities staying overnight in Bamenda. Expect to see Banded Wattle-eye, Bamenda Apalis, Bannerman’s Turaco and Weaver, Bate’s Weaver, Oriole Finch, Bangwa Forest Warbler, Mountain Boubou, Africa Green-Pigeon, Yellow Bishop, Cameroon Mountain Greenbul, Chestnut-Winged Starling, Petit’s Saw- wing, Brown-backed Cisticola and many more. DAY (12) 13th December 2016  Breakfast and drive to Oku while birding on the Sabga hills and Lake Oku environs. Arrive by late afternoon, dinner and night in a local accommodation. Day (13) 14th December 2016  Early breakfast and go birding on Mount Oku for the whole day and return by evening. DAY (14) 15th December 2016  Early wake up and after breakfast, drive to Awing, do some birding and continue to Limbe via Dschang and Santcho while birding on the way and arrive at the Miramare hotel at dusk, dinner and night. DAY (15) 16th December 2016  Early wake up, birding in the Limbe Botanic Garden and wildlife Centre, then break for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the 1999 Lava flow at Bakingili and do some birding at the beach. Expected to see Western Bluebill, Carmelite Sunbird, Violet-Tailed Sunbird, Yellow-Casqued Hornbill, Green Turaco, Western Reef Egret, African Grey parrot and more. Drive to Douala, we’ll have time assemble bags and go over the trip and add comments and suggestions for the future. There’ll be some time for shopping and farewell dinner at the mud flats behind Foyer du Marine, and escort birders to the airport and end of tour.
