email: [email protected] Website: www.thisiswilford.org.uk Facebook: This is Wilford Item Description Action 4.1.1.1 Provide input and updates to the 2017 – 2018 WCG Community Diary for these very important ALL reasons: (a) it showcases / celebrates our vibrant community; (b) it will significantly assist broader WCG fundraising efforts (see below).

4.3 WCG Future Fundraising Objectives: Benjamin Carter Hall (BCH) Car Park Repair a The meeting agreed that having a target for fundraising would provide the WCG with a tangible development step. b PM had described the imperative need to repair the BCH car park so as to: (i) provide a safer, trip free surface for pedestrian BCH users; (ii) circumvent further surface deterioration; (iii) potentially enable the repaired surface to act as a dual sports amenity. c PM stated that he had received estimates ranging from £10k to £28k to complete the works. d The meeting discussed various options to defray costs inclusive of a WCG work gang to carrying out non-skilled tasks at the direction of a contractor. e PM concurred with meeting attendees that the fundraising effort, especially in respect of appeals to formal grant aid agencies, would be significantly improved by referencing the wider developmental plans to refresh / refurbish the BCH as an inclusive (i.e. not just for the church) community resource. f The meeting recognised that raising the necessary funds and staying focussed on the task would not be a trivial undertaking, so the project would therefore need to be managed by a WCG volunteer.

4.3.1 Actions

4.3.1.1 PM to provide copies of the quotations received to date so that a Specification / Statement of Works PM can be baselined. 4.3.1.2 RS (who has a construction background) to research the tarmacking company recently employed by RS NET. 4.3.1.3 JB agreed to explore potential project funding options, including: JB / PM a Talk to Alice Veldtman about potential funding channels b PM to provide JB with a contact at the diocese

c Talk to Jonathan Sherwell Cooper about options and his availability to project manage d Talk to Parbinder Singh e Talk to the local Coop 4.3.1.4 JB said he would be happy to work up some funding application collateral, but this would need to be a JB collaborative undertaking e.g. everybody would need to help update the 2017 – 2018 WCG Community Diary; PM would need to supply a detailed description of the BCH refurbishment project inclusive of community objectives, inclusions etc.

5 WCG Roadmap Development

5.1 JB admitted that there had been little progress on this matter during the Summer recess, but he intended to refocus his efforts in the months ahead; indeed, the BCH Car Park Repair project and associated fundraising might complement this task.

5.1.1 Actions

5.1.1.1 No further actions discussed or allocated.

6 Update: Park Noticeboard

6.1 AR stated that he had been in contact with the Council’s Procurement team, and had sought to obtain additional momentum by contacting Parbinder Singh. AR recommended that the WCG obtain a datasheet for the noticeboard it wanted potentially based on the type of noticeboard in use at the Silverdale Shops (Monks Way) location.

6.1.1 Actions

6.1.1.1 RD to obtain a noticeboard requirement, based on the Silverdale Shops example, and send it on to RD Parbinder Singh to see whether this item could be financed from Councillor contributions. 6.1.1.2 Pat Huxley to liaise with RD over any work she has undertaken in this regard. PH

7 Update: Iremonger’s Pond Association

7.1 BR provided a fulsome update on recent developments and welcomed continued support from the WCG volunteers. BR expressed his thanks to the Ramblers for their help in removing nettles, and to PM for his help with a recent fish stocking task.

7.1.1 Actions

7.1.1.1 No further actions discussed or allocated.

8 Update: Ruddington Lane Park (including a report on the Nottingham City Council sponsored Ruddington Lane Family Fun Day held on the 29th August)

9 Update: Ann Gerty Telephone Box Donation

9.1 The box was transported from Ann’s backyard, courtesy of Pino De Rosa and RS, and is now situated in Bridgeway Consulting’s yard awaiting refurbishment. RS said the plan was to remove the acrylic window panes and shot-blast the box prior to repainting. A long (and now familiar) but inconclusive discourse ensued about the future purpose and location for this community asset. RS described the circumstances by which Bill and Ann Gerty acquired the box, and the meeting concurred that it would be fitting to affix a small commemorative plaque to Bill on the finished item.

9.1.1 Actions

9.1.1.1 Homework for all by the next meeting: search the internet etc. to find the ten best re-purposed ideas ALL for a defunct telephone box.

10 Any Other Business

10.1 RS reported that he had surveyed the daffodils on the Bee Bank and put together photographs and sketches for supplementary planting.

10.1.1 Actions

10.1.1. AR to ascertain the date of the last grass cutting so that a planting party can be planned. AR 1

10.2 RS wondered whether Parbinder could arrange for the Council to pay for the power supply and spare bulb costs for the Christmas lights on the Green.

10.2.1 Actions

10.2.1. PM to contact Parbinder and put in a request. PM 1

10.3 PM reported that the Christmas lights turn on, outside the Coop, would take place on the 8th December at 16:00.

10.4 PM expressed his thanks to RS and AR for mowing the grass on the Green and Paddock ahead of a wedding ceremony
