Re: Freedom of Information Request Outsourcing of Legal Work

We write in response to your request dated 16 Janaury 2013. Details of the legal work currently outsourced by the Council are set out below. We would also point out that the work outsourced by the Council is only done on a project by project basis and that the Council does not have a retainer with any of the private sector firms.

Contracts and Procurement Work Willesden Green Library Development: Pinsent Masons LLP Construction and Procurement Advice relating to the new Brent Civic Centre: Trowers & Hamlins (mainly completed) Jews Free School PFI ongoing advice on variations to the main PFI agreement: Trowers & Hamlins Academy Conversion agreements: Sharpe Pritchard. They have to date advised on 8 conversions, all completed. South Kilburn Regeneration phase 1: Trowers & Hamlins South Kilburn Regeneration phase 2: Pinsent Masons LLP South Kilburn Combined Heat & Power plant: Pinsent Masons LLP Housing & Social Care PFI: Trowers & Hamlins (mainly completed)

Conveyancing and Property Law Advice Work Acquisition of Land at Estate for Provision of New School/Wembley School Project: TLT LLP Solicitors Bristol Wembley Regeneration Scheme 5 Sites: Sharpe Pritchard LLP Solicitors London Telecoms Advice and Documentation – British Legion Site: Birketts LLP Ipswich New Civic Centre Project Property Documentation : Trowers and Hamlins LLP London Telecoms Renewals: Celia Copestake Telecommunications Legal Services Derby Disposal of Brent Town Hall: Sharpe Pritchard LLP London Barham Park Housing Redevelopment of Site of Notting Hill: HA Dickinson Dees LLP London Telecom Advice Brent House – Telemaster: Celia Copestake Telecommunications Legal services

Specify the value of all legal work outsourcing contracts and their corresponding beneficiary firms and what type of legal work is being outsourced to each firm In order for us to respond to this part of the request please specify whether the information sought is with regard to total values or individual rates.

If the outsourcing of legal work is subject to tenders submissions please specify when the Council will next invite such tenders. As stated above, the Council does not tender for retainer type arrangements and at present there are no plans to outsource for tenders.

It is the Council’s policy to ensure that where practicable your complaint is dealt with by someone who was not involved in the original decision.

You also have a right of appeal about our decision to the Information Commissioner however the Commissioner will not normally consider an appeal until you have exhausted your right of redress and complaint to the Council.
