ESL History and Science Period 3/2 - We Are Reviewing Ideas of Attributes and Habitats

Nov. 19, 2012 Dr. Pierce

ESL English Period 2/1- We are learning vocabulary and concepts about contemporary American Culture, drawing comparisons to our own individual cultures at home. This Wednesday we will have a test on Chapter 6.

ESL History and Science Period 3/2- We are reviewing ideas of attributes and habitats, and then applying it to our unit on Nations of the Western Great Lakes. This week we present research we have found on specific houses used by these Native Americans, and examine the impact of trade and the introduction of Europeans to their culture and lifestyle. We continue to practice oral reading, classroom discussion and vocabulary building skills.

ESL Literacy Period 4 and Grades 4 and 5- We are continuing to play charades to act out meanings of action words as we use the simple present, continuous present and simple past tenses. We also review previous vocabulary through the game of hangman and take practice dictations to pinpoint writing and spelling needs as we listen to English.

Grade 4 & 5 ESL- We are reviewing vocabulary, creating and writing sentences with prepositions of place and adjectives. Students are also using word cards to build sentences and to ask questions for additional practice, review and for grades.

Grades K-1- This week we only have one day of class where we will finish our books we are making based upon student readings of specific books and classroom discussion. Students will take their book home to read to parents over the holiday.

Grades 2 & 3- We are identifying beginning sounds of words, and creating sentences of our own to describe these words/objects and actions. We also practice asking questions, and writing summary sentences about classroom discussions.
