Tuning Protocol Introduction/Norms For today’s protocol, 5 minutes Review [presenting teacher name] will share a lesson for us to review and provide feedback.

Our norms are (read through the norms)

Our parking lot is located on the chart rack. [name], would you mind being in charge of listing anything we need to put up on the parking lot?

The steps in today’s protocol will be as follows: (read through steps on chart) Presentation ______, you now have 5 5 minutes minutes to share your lesson, what the objective was, the student work you brought, and strategies you used. Clarifying Questions We now have 5 minutes to ask 5 minutes clarifying questions. Remember that this isn’t the time to offer suggestions. Silent Idea Generating We now have 5 minutes of 5 minutes silent writing time to come up with suggestions for ______, as well as positive feedback. Put 1 idea per post-it note. Strategy Discussion We now have 10 minutes to 10 minutes share our ideas. Remember not to talk to _____ directly. We’ll be talking about the lesson as if she isn’t here. She will be

This is the time that the rest of us just listen, and give her time to think through any of the ideas that seemed useful or interesting.
